The Leftovers Season 3 First Look: This End Is Near

If The Leftovers Season 3 can come anywhere close to the amazement that was brought forth with The Leftovers Season 2, we're in for a treat.

The Season 3 poster, the first photo and first teaser are already piquing interest.

The double entendre is appreciated here. 

Not only do we know the end is near for the the series itself, but it's a question that has been posed within the story since it was first introduced.

Who are the leftovers, and why were they left behind? Behind for what? And where did their loved ones go in the blink of an eye?

The Peabody Award-winning drama series is created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta.

Considering where Lindelof has been in the past with Lost, all eyes will be on him to see if we'll get an ambiguous ending to The Leftovers or something more concrete.

This season will find the Garvey and Murphy families coming together as they desperately grasp for a system of belief to help better explain that which defies explanation.

The world is crackling with the energy of something big about to happen, a corresponding bookend to the Sudden Departure that sent them all spinning years earlier, bringing their journey Down Under.

That's right, they'll be taking everything and everybody to Australia. 

This first photo of Kevin sends a similar message as the poster. They're looking for meaning in what did happen and what will.

They are not alone. Whether this teaser is all of one scene and everyone is watching the aircraft spin its smoke into the message in the sky or at various times the sky reveals other secrets will come as we watch.

But the show has not been lax on unseen forces and messages.

Kevin's moment in the afterlife, crawling up from under the dirt and speaking with Patti to find solace in his life have all proven to be mysterious and awe-inspiring.
