Chandra Wilson, Grey's Anatomy Cast Clean Up at SAG Awards

Chandra Wilson Wins!
Congratulations to the entire cast of Grey's Anatomy for winning the Screen Actors Guild award for best performance by an ensemble in a drama series last night.

A testament to chemistry and talent, this honor was earned by every member of the cast and should be savored.

Special congratulations go out to Chandra Wilson, who won the SAG award for best female actor in a drama series.

The actress who we've come to know and love as Dr. Miranda Bailey is a dynamic presence on the show and deserves every ounce of credit she gets.

While accepting her award, a teary-eyed Wilson credited her castmates and light-heartedly acknowledged the elephant (not) in the room.

"It's about those 10 cast members sitting over there," Wilson said. "... and the other one in rehab. Y'all just hold me together."

Wilson was referring, of course, to embattled star Isaiah Washington, who was not in attendance. Later, Ellen Pompeo, while accepting the award on behalf of the entire ensemble, also thanked Washington, as well as several of the many talented Grey's Anatomy guest stars who weren't there.

Refreshingly, the dark cloud hanging over Grey's Anatomy appears to have lifted, with the focus of the night remaining where it should be - on TV's best drama. Prior to the event, Katherine Heigl took the high road when asked about Isaiah.

"As far as we know, he's seeking treatment right now to help with some of his issues," Heigl told E! anchor Ryan Seacrest, repeatedly refusing to speculate on Washington's absence or return.

Below are some pictures from the SAG awards. Congratulations once again to the Grey's Anatomy cast, and especially Chandra on a job well done!

Not surprisingly, I am firmly in the camp of those who believe that KH says too much too often. She needs to let both of the injured parties heal their differences. The comments about we don't know when he'll be back or for how long were unnecessary. She very purposefully gave an answer that makes the situation seem less hopeful than the Isaiah fans, and there are many, hope that it is. I do not believe Isaiah is a homophobe for this incident. We've been through this a thousand times. One slip of the tongue and responding to the baiting of a dogged reporter does not make one a homophobe. He does not have a history of gay bashing or problems with the gay community. People who want to continue with the name calling are not one bit better than he is. As far as Katherine is concerned, in my opinion it was inappropriate to publicly take sides against one of her castmates to begin with. Do what you want privately, but if the show wants to heal and remain together, she needs to keep quiet. Plus she makes TR look foollish. He's a 34 year old man and big enough to fight his own battles. He has certainly been doing a good job of it so far taking the incident to the press to begin with and blaming his coming out on one word uttered on a closed set not even directed at him. Isaiah is every bit as much a victim in this whole scenario as TR. I hope they can all get past this. Both men need therapy from my perspective. Isaiah for talking without thinking first and TR for self esteem issues if one word defines who he is. There is no need to keep pouring gasoline on the fire. Katherine would have taken the high road if she had simply said she doesn't know. That would also probably have been the truth.

The cast was fabulous. I give kudos to TR, he was very respectful...when asked questions about IW...he said...I'm here. Katherine Heigl needs a muzzle - she is fueling speculations. All the other cast members were noncommittal, no specifics. KH, for someone, who in her own words "is not privy to any information from the higher ups..." ...should "just not speak in public" is what she should have said...I have no detail and no comments. We all have been inundated with the cause and effect. The powers that be themselves have been pretty mum about details and press releases...yet KH has made it on the red carpet and elsewhere and she is the only soundbite everyone is quoting on a regular basis, like she is the expert of the matter. Please KH "SHHHHHH"...don't feed the media machine! Your cast and company need to heal...and the public do not want anymore news...about IW woes or Grey's Anatomy in the headlines. We only want to see spoilers for the next episode...I want to enjoy Grey's and the UBER TALENTED CAST!

Oh and I am so glad that Chandra won...she was up against some amazing actress......she is a great person and phenominal actress.

Thank you Randy I am totally with you...Katherine was not the only who spoke all the actors were asked about the subject and I think they all handled it well.

I think people should lay off Katherine. The other night, if you watched, she clearly tried not to be drawn into a discussion about Isaiah despite the reporters' repeated efforts to get a good sound bite out of her. Her vague answers are really all you can expect. As for her sticking up for T.R. in the first place, or for T.R. giving an interview on Ellen, I refuse to see how either did anything wrong. He's the victim in all of this and she's sticking up for her friend. I'm sorry, but what Isaiah did was awful. I do not think he should be fired and I think he is genuinely sorry it happened and doing all he can to put it behind him. And I wish everyone would let the whole issue go. But to point the finger at T.R. or Katherine seems patently unfair.

KH just didn't think about what she was saying at the GG awards show...I doubt it has anything to do with her lack of a storyline now that Jeffery Dean Morgan is no longer on GA. KH was just defending TR Knight, but she could have left well enough alone and let TR take care of himself. I don't think much of TR Knight either, going on Ellen D's show as he did. Everything should have been kept within their little group.

Congratulations to the cast and writers of Grey's Anatomy! Another congratulations goes out to Chandra Wilson. One for winning her award and two for her awesome speech during the show and for her interviews after the show. She is truly an inspiration and a phenomenal woman. Once again, I must comment on Katherine Heigl for opening her big mouth when the rest of the cast is trying to let the hype calm down. She is behaving very childish and I really hope that people start to see this. And I agree with TexasGreysFan that Katherine should take her own advice and just not speak in public!!! Oh yeah and I hope people see that she is only doing this immature stuff to try and get noticed because now that Denny is not on the show anymore...she really does not have the public's attention anymore. Guess what Katherine...if you were more of a team player...maybe you would get some recognition!

yes you're exactly right Carol -- KH's original comments were very "high school", totally unnecessary, and frankly embarrassing for her. i'm surprised they haven't put a muzzle on her yet; "they" meaning the network/producers, etc.

patrick and kate look good together.

It was reported on Celebrity Baby Blog around Christmas that Ellen is rumored to be pregnant. The posting on Celebrity Baby Blog said that a reporter on a tv station in Seattle (that had some kind of a local talk show) said "Ellen will be needing a real-life doctor soon." 'Supposedly' Ellen said on a Seattle radio show that she was expecting. But later, the story could not be verified. This Seattle reporter was apparently 'swamped' with emails and calls asking about Ellen. The reporter later issued a statement denying that she said anything about Ellen 'needing a real-life doctor soon.' That's all I know. It seems like everything is deny, deny, deny. It's a pregnancy for God's sake, not some highly classified state secret. But, I think Ellen looks 'larger' when she stands to the side and she looks like she's gained a little weight in her face. We'll know in a couple of months! As for KH and her comment about IW. I think the very first comment she made at the GG--part of it was right--'Isiah should not speak in public.' The rest of her comment, about 'throwing down' for TR Knight, I think was stupid and immature. It's fine to have loyalty for your friends, but to say you'll 'throw down' ? And to say so in public? Why not say that in private, at work? KH reminded me of a high school bully when she said that, not a mature woman. At least the rest of the cast has enough presence of mind to not say much--just smile and move on past the reporters.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

There's a reason I said I'd be happy alone. It wasn't 'cause I thought I'd be happy alone. It was because I thought if I loved someone and then it fell apart, I might not make it. It's easier to be alone, because what if you learn that you need love and you don't have it? What if you like it and lean on it? What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart? Can you even survive that kind of pain? Losing love is like organ damage. It's like dying. The only difference is death ends. This? It could go on forever.

Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow."
