Taye Diggs Joins Grey's Anatomy Spinoff
Entertainment Weekly reports that actor Taye Diggs has been tapped to star in the Grey's Anatomy spin-off currently in the works.
No details are available on his character. Grey's Anatomy will set the stage for the spinoff, which will focus on Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh), via an expanded two-hour episode scheduled for May.
In the pilot, the former Dr. Shepherd will consider her exit from Seattle Grace.
Grey's Anatomy executive producer and creator Shonda Rhimes is writing the episode, and is expected to write the potential spin-off as well.
Meanwhile, Rhimes' other ABC pilot, in which Jeffrey Dean Morgan reportedly stars in a new series about a group of female journalists, has not been canceled, but rather has been pushed to a later summer production start. Shonda is going to be busy!
Diggs' casting in the controversial Grey's Anatomy spinoff stems from a new deal he signed with ABC TV Studio, where Grey's Anatomy is based.
Diggs, 36, has already starred in two drama series for the studio, Kevin Hill for UPN and Day Break for ABC.

I love "McChocolate" and "Dr. Godiva"! Taye is super hot, and I still don't understand why DAYBREAK was not a hit! I say onward and upward with the GA spinoff!

Who cares about any of these people, when they are also co starring Tim Daly, who should in my book be a star...Taye Diggs??? In a loser show already when Daly has already proven his abilities in comedy and drama. . .When all these other "newbies" are long gone, he'll still be around, quietly entertaining people.

*gasps* WHAT?? my girl Addie is leaving grey's???
No that is SO not allowed! She is my absolute favorite character! Where would the show go without every single member of the cast? There is still so much we don't know about this girl. It would be a shame to lose her!

OK - LOVE JDM!!! Want as much air time there as possible! Shonda knows he gets the ratings soaring - look who filled the sweeps week guest star spot this week!!
I say first things first - get his new show going and give GA a bit more time before spinning it off!
Second - Addison??? Why the heck her... How about McSteamy?!!! THAT would be a killer spin off... Nip/Tuck-ish with that great GA je ne ce quois!

I would have to agree with Dixie Gril I see GA suffering a lot if this spin off happens. Shonda is a great writer and I have loved her since the beginning of GA. Viewers are not ready for GA to be over but it needs her dedication and a spin off is not going to help. Grey's lover75 I am feeling the Dr. Godiva.....just not now especially on a spin off BUT GA maybe.

Actually, I think the JDM show has been put on hold in lieu of the spinoff. JDM was to appear on the show about a group of female journalists. I've seen several websites that say that project has been postponed / cancelled so that Shonda can develop the GA spinoff.
I'd love to see more JDM too - I think he's a great actor and very easy to look at...
But I'd REALLY like Shonda & co to focus on GA. I am afraid she is getting spread too thin, and we are going to see GA suffer as a result. I'm not big on the spinoff idea, although I think Kate Walsh is a great actress - I'd just like to continue seeing her great on GA!
