Despite the embarrassing defeat of his alma mater, USC, to Pac-10 rival Stanford in football, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello was able to crawl out from under the covers to deliver some Grey's Anatomy spoilers in his weekly column.

Here's what he's got to say about our favorite show and what lies ahead in the coming weeks for the residents of Seattle Grace Hospital ...

Question: Stanford?! Seriously?! Wow. To help you feel better, I thought I'd give you the chance to turn things around and share some Grey's Anatomy scoop with us. You'll feel better, honest!
TV Guide: I don't usually put a lot of stock in alternative remedies, but I suppose it's worth a try. Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) will be returning for a Halloween episode on October 25, and she'll make a controversial decision that causes a major rift between Cristina and Izzie. Also, the fallout from the George-Izzie relationship will throw Callie and Cristina together in an unexpected way, and someone is fired from their position.

Question: What's the deal with the new actress (Lauren Stamile) cast on Grey's Anatomy? Is she Derek's sister or a potential new love interest?
TV Guide: Promise you won't shoot the messenger? I mean it. Promise. Okay, she's Derek's potential new love interest. Hey, you promised!

Question: More Grey's Anatomy news please!
TV Guide: Someone else from Meredith's past is returning next month. Stay tuned!

I hate that his new love interest could be her SISTER. I think that's too far... I think it will end up being vindictive on someone's part. But, we all know what happens in the end! MerDer will NEVER be over for good!

i don't know why i'm still watching this show.
another love THAT STINKS
HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT if that's true, well NO MORE G.A. for me
thanks a lot but no more

Another triangle? I will boycott this show.

At first I was disappointed to hear a new love interest for Derek, but perhaps he deserves some happiness. And I agree with finally!'s comments, that maybe this will open Meredith's eyes to see that she really loves him and needs to commit her whole heart and get over her past & emotion insecurities. Here's hoping Mer & Der can work things out together in the end.

I am all for the new love interest. If Mer can have one than Derek have one.(and I do not count Addison as a love interest although I probably should) He's going to end up going back to Mer anyways so what does it matter if he gets a new love interest or not? And plus I think with this new love interest, it will help Mer open to open her eyes and to really give her heart to Derek and not just half of it. She'll in the end give Derek what he wants and needs.

Other woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's bad. M & D must to be together.

Lets just pray that there is no "potential" love connection for McDreamy and this new girl. Or perhaps if there is, it makes Meredith realize that she does not want him to get away and she has to fight for him. She should totally kick the new girls ass!! As for them going to bring in someone from her past, I thing it would be interesting for both Mer/der to date other people for a while and then realize that they are the truly meant to be together. It has to end up like the 'Rachel/Ross" situation... it better.

That is the wrost news I've ever been spolied with I really wanted them to get back together not bring in another women I don't know how much I can take this season of this not together, and sex only. Then they are going to bring in someone else for Mer to get dump for so she'll never get over her history.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

When we say things like "people don't change" it drives scientist crazy because change is literally the only constant in all of science. Energy. Matter. It's always changing, morphing, merging, growing, dying. It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural. The way we cling to what things were instead of letting things be what they are. The way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones. The way we insist on believing despite every scientific indication that anything in this lifetime is permanent. Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again.

Callie: Did anyone ever think you two were a couple?
Meredith: No, because we screw boys like whores on tequila.
Cristina: Then we either try to marry them or drown ourselves.
Callie: Huh.
