Wow, how funny is it that as I was reading "Gail Russell's comments I was thinking that I had felt the exact same way.....only about the opposite David! I felt that if Archuleta had won, it would have been year 3 of sappy, unoriginal artists and Idol was truly on its way out. Or as "Gail Russell" said, the last nail in the coffin of American Idol. It's all about personal preferences I guess. Mine was definitely David Cook and I was extremely happy to see him win. In my opinion, he has the much greater chance at super-stardom. Archuleta, although he does have a beautiful voice, is typical. Not to mention his "aw-shucks" personality and his ready to cry everytime the judges praised him had me ready to turn off the TV. Wow, this time, for me, America got it right!

Gail, U R entitled to your opinion and I love David A., but David C. also deserved this win. U R so wrong, just sit back and watch, DC will make millions for AI. I will be first is line for DC's album and have already purchased his existing ones. Also I am a 52 year old female.

Because of tonights results, and the way the whole season has gone, my family will no longer be watching American Idol in the years to come. David Cook should never have made it to Hollywood. He does not have a quality voice and will only appeal to a small audience. David Archuleta would have appealed to an audience ranging from 9 to 90 depending on songs. He has a quality voice to be a real American Idol. My 27year old daughter referred to him as being a "legend" in his time and my 12 year old daughter could not believe that he had lost to this "rocker". When David Archuleta has his first CD to come out, I (a 59 year old grandmother) will be the first in line to buy it. When I hear David Cook on the radio I will change the station. There is a lot of talk about AI being rigged. I don't know if it is or not. But if it is, I fail to understand the reasoning for this happening. This could very well put the last nail in the coffin of American Idol. This is an atrosity to the aspiring young

Good Evening,
To your question did America get it right. You bet. I have watched it from start to finish. He was the most consistent in giving it all for every task that was given him. When a singer creates an album there is always a variety of melodies, words and rhythms. As he performed and progressed each week it was as if he was creating an album. He is a very talented young man to take the songs that he chose and worked them to his advantage. I am a lover of music and there are times I have listened not only to my favorite singers but the ones that are not my favs, and understood why they do the songs they choose. I wish David Cook the best in everything. If he really understands the words he sang for his winning song at the end, then he will be one great artist and I look forward to listening to him into my golden years.........Keep your feet on the ground but yet soar like an eagle!
