ABC Sort of Denies Plans to Kill Off Heigl
Rumors have been running rampant about star Katherine Heigl's departure from Grey's Anatomy. The most prevalent theory, bolstered by news of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's return to Grey's Anatomy, revolves around Izzie contracting a brain tumor.
Yesterday, ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson commented briefly on the subject of Heigl's future, and while he said that Izzie isn't going anywhere, reading between the lines a bit reveals some awfully ambiguous statements.
According to McPherson, Katherine Heigl is still very much in the mix with Grey's Anatomy, and Izzie Stevens won't be offed anytime soon.
In fact, he promised the following:
"Katherine is absolutely staying with the show. She has an unbelievable storyline this year, which is central to everything going on this season. Shonda Rhimes is really excited about that; she’s the one who actually crafted that."
McPherson tried to brush the recent controversy Katherine Heigl stirred up when she withdrew her name from consideration for the Emmy Awards.
"She is a fantastically talented actress," he said. "I think it’s unfortunate when there’s any kind of turmoil on the show. There are so many people who work so unbelievably hard to make that show; we have the No. 1 show in the country. I think it’s a beautifully written, beautifully acted, beautifully produced... Everyone from the grips to the writers to the executive producers, I think deserves an enormous amount of credit."
All in all, he's told us nothing, but made it sound good and certainly got us wondering what's to come in Season Five of Grey's Anatomy.
Guess that's why he makes the big bucks!
Finally, when asked for comment on the matter, Grey's Anatomy co-star Eric Dane said of Katherine Heigl: "She's a great girl, very professional, she likes her job and I don't think Shonda has any intentions of killing her off."

Please let her die already...there is more drama off the camera than on for Heigl. Izzie isn't that interesting of a character anyway...she and George could leave and the show would survive.

actually Izzie as a character has a story
and yes! she's all a sex symbol
you see the actress and her character
and you think "omg she's beautiful"
and maybe George wasn't her best "thing"
Alex, he's a jerk and everybody knows

hate alex hes a jerk then they try to make him soft it doesnt work for me.she slept with george....george come on i cant even take him as a dr. seriously!then theres denny..poor denny..they have used her as a sex symbol that is it...wheres her story ?? she isnt close friends with anyone... does she have a family? what is her purpose? maybe she should sleep with cally gross!! who came up with making her a lesbian!! again she also has no story.. get rid of her too!!

Izzie and alex have to end up together!! they are meant to be together. So there is no way Izzie leaves or dies. KH is a great actress that has to be on the show. I'm waiting for a great storyline for her this upcoming season.

Please, don't be that STUPID and give Izzie tumor, or any illness for that matter! Except if you want to ruin the show for good, this time.
Don't you understand that the only way to go this year is to connect Izzie with alex, first to have great sex, the best of her life, then to make her see that alex loved AND respected her from the begining, the way he never loved OR respected anyone else. He cared so much that he couldn't have had sex with her the first time they were together..
And Burk MUST return, maybe in the moment when Christina has her first affair after him, and it would be ruined with his return..
And Mer and Der, HAVE to be together, finaly, with lots of seens of both sexual and professional passion and tension, and jealousy, but without breaking up again - with fighting for each other and their relationship.
I mean, REALLY, we NEED one couple to stay together, through good and bad, something to give us hope that great love stories still exist in this hollow world!
