Grey's Anatomy: Not Accurate Enough For Italy?

Television programs with medical and hospital themes often get so many of the details wrong, according to a leading Italian medical group, that the country's main broadcasters should refrain from airing them.

Offending programs include imported fare such as ER, House, Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs, along with a host of Italian-made productions, several of which were scheduled to premiere with state broadcaster RAI in September.

Denny, How Goes It?

The National Federation of Medical Colleges feels that the shows should not air and The Order of Medical Professionals of Rome echoes that view.

Annalisa Silvestro, NFMC president, says that the programs are "teaching viewers inaccurate views on medicine," and "spreading misinformation."

There has been no word on whether RAI and Mediaset are actually lame enough to actually adjust their programming in response to the protests.

If they are, maybe they should read these Grey's Anatomy Season 5 spoilers. Medicine totally plays an important role in the relationships, people!

I am Italian and I go visit there frequently. Their medical shows suck and are so inaccurate that the hospitals contain old products. Besides hospitals in Italy arent the best either!

"spreading misinformation"? They shouldn't allow the pope to speak then.

Well, they do have a point, the Italians have produced some really excellent TV programmes. Wait a second, they haven't produced any programme worth a damn! So they really have no grounds for comment. Maybe, they think that everything on TV is real life? How silly can you get?

LOL can't believe this!! I had a boss who was Italian and an MD I think he obtained is diploma by mail courses!!!! That's how bad he was, lucky he was in the pharma business and not treating patients!!!

GEEE. Just watch the show and enjoy the entertainment! Besides, it's not like all of the Italians are doctors or work in the medical field anyway. That's the whole fun of it... they dramatise and sprinkle in romance and a whole lot of other components that make an awesome show. AND IF grey's gets banned, they're missing out on the best show ever.

ahaha - "spreading misinformation" there's nothing on grey's saying that everything is true anyway. do they want a disclaimer or something?

seattle grace is perfect the way it is =D

That could be their point...there's a lot of times when the medical cases are meant to mirror their lives and vice versa...what good is that if the cases aren't realistic. I have often wished they would make the cases more true to what actually happens. I mean, they have medical consults who help the writers...why not take it a step further?

Who the heck cares if all of the stuff is 100% accurate? It's a tv drama!!! No doctor is going to study Grey's Anatomy and do everything they do in their real professional lives. Italy needs to chill and just enjoy the great show!!!
