Krysten Ritter Cast as Lily's Sister in Gossip Girl Spinoff
The upcoming Gossip Girl spin-off has completed its first piece of casting.
Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls alumna Krysten Ritter has been tapped to play Carol, the troubled older sister of Lily van der Woodsen (Lily Rhodes) in the new show, which chronicles the teenage years of Kelly Rutherford's alter ego.
Described as a sweet girl but also a bit of a disaster, Carol is an actress who's constantly making bad decisions in both her work and personal lives.
Lily ends up moving in with Carol after a falling out with mom and dad.
Krysten Ritter of Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and now Gossip Girl spinoff fame.
Circa '80s Lily and Carol will both be introduced in the May 11 episode of Gossip Girl, presumably through Lily's flashbacks in some form.
Meanwhile, casting for the lead role of Lily continues - and EW's Michael Ausiello says that if Gossip Girl producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz end up getting their first choice, there will be a lot of very happy fans out there.

I loved her in Gossip Girl. I can see her as Lily's hairbrained sister and if they cast Kristen Bell as Lily, that should make for a fun show. I will definetly watch it.

She looks very nice and interesting. The problem is that the spinoff doesnt. I'm not interested int his project and I'm not gonna watch it. And they're also stealing a GG episode for it. Ugh.

Instead of doing a spinoff they could have done a 2hour speacil on lily and rufus past on gossip girl instead of doing this pointless show. And the this girl is from 27 dresses and confessions of a shopoholic

Krysten Ritter is playing Susan Cleath-Stuart(Suze)on Confessions of a Shopaholic. She should concentrate on movies this spin-off could be a disaster.

I'm not really excited for the spinoff. Not to be offensive or anything, but the Lily thing was already getting a little old on gossip girl. Doing a whole show about her life is going too far.
My idea? Since Blair can't go to Yale, at the end of the GG series, make a show about her and Chuck. Summary: Blair didn't get into Yale, so she's staying and helping Chuck run Bass industries, when he turns 18. The show will be about all the drama that happens. Feedback?
