While Desperate Housewives bid farewell to Sheridan's Edie last season, ABC has found quite the replacement for her:

Emmy-winning Sopranos star Drea de Matteo is joining the cast in the fall. She'll play Wisteria Lane's latest vixen.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, De Matteo will be a series regular. She'll portray the matriarch of a new Italian family, as casting is underway for her husband and their tightly wound son.

This piece of casting news wraps up an exciting day, as we earlier reported that Jana Kramer was joining the cast of One Tree Hill and Trevor Donovan was coming aboard 90210.
