I would rather his departure be unspectacular and that George be able to come back if TR changed his mind.

George's my favorite character, and he and Izzie my favorite couple.

It isn't that George had no stories. This happens. It's that he was completely erased from the show. I never saw this happen to any character before.

I'm sure it was personal, and I feel as if they've robbed me of my last year with my favorite character.

Well, I'm going to miss George, too. He was never my favourite character. But I loved his friendship with Izzie and later with Lexie. On the other hand I hated what they did with him and Callie and him and Izzie trying to be a couple really destroyed both characters for me at least for some time.

I don't know why George had less screentime this season, but neither does any of you I suppose. We don't know what's going on on set and why the writers decided not to give George big storylines. We can only guess!

And for George dying: to let a main character die brings so much drama to a show! I do understand why they chose to kill him off. It makes perfect sense! Just imagine how hard it will be for the others to cope after that.
People should be happy that George dies because I think that deaths on TV usually are remembered for very much longer than any other unspectacular depature of a character. (I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.^^)

I love George. I always have. I love all the characters, but George was always special to me.

He'll always be my favorite character no matter what. I feel the same way about he and Izzie. They're still my favorite couple.

  4. Michelle

I agree. I'm sad and angry too, but we need to remember all the beautiful George moments we had over the years and be grateful for that.

TR is happy. It's all that matters.

  5. Diana

I love george and Gizzie so much. I want to cry.

  6. Telly

Tr has definitely moved on. He has never been one to whine and look back, has he? He's happy. I can see that on every photo I see of him. He's happy, which tells me he wasn't happy anymore on the show.

It doesn't mean I can forgive the show for what they did to George on this last season. Even if TR never came back, they didn't have to kill George.

George was my favorite character, and I would love to think of him being a hero in the war and saving lives, and maybe finding true love along the way.

We could have Izzie tell us one day how happy George was there, and maybe about him getting married and having a kid.

The thought of George dead is so sad to me.

I'm still mad at the lack of Gizzie scenes we had. They were not only my favorite couple. They were my favorite friendship.

To be honest, I'm expecting the show to let me down with how they handle George's death so I'm not planning on watching.

Like TR, I'm planning on moving on to another show.

    My friend tune

i'm going to miss george so muchh.
    i'm gonna cryyyy ):

I'm so tired of the fighting on here. Honestly? I will miss George O'Malley so much. He is and always will be my all-time favorite TV fictional character. Shonda AND TR made George come alive for me and I enjoyed every second of all of his stories. I missed him all season long in S5 and was thrilled when he was back on my screen towards the end. I'm still heartbroken over he and Izzie... what an extreme ending. And my best guess is that he will die. :( As for why TR left? I think it most definitely was more than he just deciding to do Broadway again... it's not that simple. However EXACTLY what happened is unclear to us still... the specifics of what went on behind the scenes we really don't know. We can look back at various critics and know that their constant criticism of George and TR probably played a factor. We can recognize that TPTB are MORE than just Shonda (network)-- there are many powerful hands in the cookie jar. We can also be sure from TR's words that decidi

I know. If George had any happiness, or even any hint of professional success this season, it would have been easier. Knowing he died feeling so unloved and so unhappy makes me so furious at Shonda.

I love George so much, and he deserved to be happy.

The way she treated George so awfully is all the proof I need to make up my mind about Shonda and I don't like what I see.

I know what I'm seeing on my screen. George not shown at all for a year.

I'm a huge Gizzie fan. I think they are the best couple on Earth but I could have dealt with George moving on because Izzie did (even though I hate Alex and Izzie more than any couple). I thought George deserved to find a love that lasted like his parents did.

If George had had a bit of happiness just a bit, this would be easier, but he was so miserable all season and so sad all season and then he dies.

It feels so unfair and so cruel to have him die after making him suffer so much all season.

Izzie was right. George was the best. He never tried to hurt anyone. He had a big heart. He didn't deserve to die.

He could have been a hero in the army and saved a lot more lives that way. He didn't have to die to save some idiot who was too blind to realize how amazing he was.

Shonda hated TR so much she had to have that woman calling him ordinary-looking right on the show. How mean is that? TR is gorgeou

I have to say that I'm sad that George has been killed off, cos TR felt undervalued and underused. I wish it was Iz istead. I feel KH has been so overindulged with her story line in season 5. Still that's a storyline that may come back in the future, Swender said you can never cure cancer. It may allow Shonda flexibility to have the cancer story line again. But I hope there's less Iz focus in season 6/7

  12. Anna

I know you don't erase a character completely until there's something more going on here.

I know you don't kill a character if you can leave the door open.

I know Shonda sided with IW during the f* word crisis, not TR, when he was the victim.

I know she didn't even have the decency to give us George fans a decent ending and a chance to say goodbye.

I know that, as a Gizzie and George fan, this is the second time Shonda completely stabs me in the back.

I know that I won't be watching anymore.

  13. Danielle

Oh and George and Izzie were the best most magical couple ever.

Shonda made a huge mistake killing them.

I'm not surprised the Alex and Izzie fans are defending Shonda. She has been giving them everything they want.

If this was my couple and my favorite characters, I'd be thrilled too, but I'm a George and Gizzie fan, i've never been Shonda's chosen fanbase.

  14. Danielle

I know that George had like 30 seconds every episode this season. I know she chose tom kill him off. I know TR was angry about his alck of time, and that is why he quit.

No other character was ever backburnered as much as George was this season.

He had two episodes with less than 30 seconds of airtimee. Of course, he quit. He must have felt totally underappreciated.

I also know Katie wanted to leave but then they gave her tons of stories and she stayed.

Too bad they couldn't give the same curtesy to TR and his fans.

I also know Shonda killed George, which was totally unecessary and because of that, we'll never see George again.

Those were the choices she made.

I don't have to know what happened.

What I'm seeing speaks very loudly on my screen.

Isiah said Shonda considered him her best friend and that she cried buckets of tears when she had to fire him.

    That says it all.

...The only thing I can say, I just watched final episode of season 5 coz in Italy fox has got "jet-lag" and......oh my god!!! The moment Meredith understood it was 007 was breathtaking! I don't know what will happen next season, the only thing I know is I can't wait for season 6 to begin!!!!!
PS. I belive the Mer/Der thing is not going to have a happy ending...I mean, you can't marry with a post-it!! Bullshit!
Good night all "real" fans of Grey's anatomy ;-)

Does anyone who posts on here KNOW Shonda or TR personally? Were you involved in the negotiations or do you have any proof that Shonda is homophobic or best friends with IW or that she hates TR or the character of George (who had major storylines in the first 4 seasons) or any segment of her fans? If you have no written or specific proof, then it is just rumor and speculation. Just like the notion that TR walked off the set and gave the writers a hard time is just rumor and speculation. Of course all of that is dismissed out of hand as lies by the same people stating that Shonda hates TR and is homophobic as fact. I'm sure that the truth is somehwhere in the middle and no one "side" is 100% right or wrong and we will probably never know the full story. All we know for a FACT is that TR asked to be let out of his contract and Shonda/ABC agreed. Anything else is just rumor.

Speaking of rumors, I have heard that many posters on here (and on other message boards) are the same per

i say george dies and they have a funeral

  18. zixzzz

We have seen so little of George in season 5 that I for one had to remind myself of his character in season 1. He was kind hearted, a bit foolish with his love life, not the best intern or resident. He only arrived at knowing he had an aptitude for trauma very belatedly. His character development went awry with Gizzie, muddling up love of a best friend for the 'love of your life'. Very under used in season 5. Our original interns are no longer the fab 5. GA will carry on without George, or Izzie. GA would stop if Ellen or Patrick asked to leave and got out of their contracts. That's why GA stems from Meredith, her relationships. Not GEorge, never ever George

  19. Terks

Why can't Katherine Heigl leave instead? She's the one who started this whole 'omg-let's-quit-greys" thing, so she should finish it, not TR!

  20. patrasfan

It's too bad that George character is gone. Personally i really like him and the gizzie thing. I think Gizzie is the most beautifull couple i 've seen the last years. Actually this couple was the main reason i watch GA. Now without gizzie what am i supposed to see? Mark and Lexie? The most boring couple in the history of tvshows?
It's true that Shonda didn't do just one George's episode, so that all his fans could say a proper goodbye. And she didn't do it because she dislike TR for firing her friend IW.
I'm going to see the 1st episode but something tells me that GA, at least like i remember it, it's gone. Now it's something familliar but not the same. MA-G-IK is gone.

  21. Margaret

I love George. I can't imagine Grey without him. I don't think I can watch his funerals.

    I'll be a blubbering mess.

  22. Katia

George O'Malley is the best by far.

He makes me laugh so much.

    He's our rock star.

    We need him!

    Izzie needs him!

I miss Gizzie so much, and I missed George all season.

He can't die. If he does, he can never come back.

    I'm hating Shonda right now.

  23. Ingrid

Oh Rory is back, rolls eyes.

George was the funniest, most interesting and real character on Grey.

Season 5 was so boring without him.

I should thank Shonda for letting me know how much the show sucks without George.

I know I don't have any interest watching without him now.

  24. Farrah

Ace, why would Shonda not do an episode to say goodbye to George? After all, she did an entire season of goodbye to Izzie and she didn't know if she was going to leave either. So Izzie gets a whole season, and George doesn't even get one episode after being backburnered all season?

You obviously don't know what you're saying at all, and keep contradicting yourself.

TR quit because Shonda wasn't willing to write for him. Was Shonda stupid enough to think TR would stay if she continued to not write for him? Is she that egocentric that she thought TR would stay on Grey no matter what lame treatment he was getting.

Shonda knew there was a big possibility of George leaving from episode 1 of season 5. That's why she CLAIMS she prepared the big cliffhanger in the finale and made George vanish.

She had months to prepare a better ending for him. She knows George is one of the most popular characters on the show.

She didn't. That's on her. The woman is great at writting short-term

  25. EC

To me, Alex is boring. Lexie is boring. Mark is boring. MerDer is boring.

George is the most interesting of them all.

Rory, you're boring. All you can say is George is boring, nothing else.

Is your vocabulary that limited? No wonder George is boring tto you.

A smart, complex character is a bit beyond your limited intelligence, is it?
