Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice to Cross Over ... Again!

at .

Shonda Rhimes is anti-spoilers, but with a bus full of reporters visiting the set, she revealed a little scoop on the upcoming season: Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson will cross over to the alternate Shonda world of Private Practice in the season's third episode.

Miranda Bailey will travel to L.A. to visit her former colleague Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) and perform a "very interesting" medical procedure, Rhimes says.

Bailey, of course, has no intention of being shy about sharing her opinions about the events at Oceanside Wellness, the creator and producer of both shows adds.

Boss Bailey

The crossover of Chandra Wilson to Private Practice will continue the relatively fluid movement of characters between Grey's Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice, which debuted in 2007.

Walsh has appeared on episodes of Grey's Anatomy the past two seasons, after leaving at the end of its third. This past season Patrick Dempsey's Derek Shepherd guest starred on Private Practice, as Taye Diggs and Audra McDonald did the reverse.

The new season of Private Practice will pick up only a few minutes after last season's finale, which ended with off-her-meds patient Katie (Amanda Foreman) injecting Violet (Amy Brenneman) with paralyzing drugs and about to steal her baby.

The season premiere will deal with the immediate aftermath, while episode two will jump ahead a few weeks, Amy Brenneman says. We can't wait to see who rescues Violet.
