William Baldwin is in talks to play the absentee, estranged father of Eric and Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) on Gossip Girl later this season, according to reports.

Serena's quest to find her dad has been an ongoing theme of the current season. But Baldwin's arrival as William van der Woodsen has implications for another blond.

It seems that his past relationship with Lily Rhodes van der Woodsen Bass Humphrey (Kelly Rutherford) is going to be a big part of the new character's plot line, too.

Does that mean he'll come between Lily and Rufus (Matthew Settle)?

We suppose that kind of turmoil is to be expected on Gossip Girl. We're just holding out hope that Jack Donaghy (Billy's older brother Alec Baldwin) makes a cameo!
