Big Love Review: "Blood Atonement"

at .

OMG!!! Did all of that really just happen?! Big Love really upped the ante last night on "Blood Atonement".

Many can argue that they thought that the episode was too busy, but we thought it was the perfect example of why we love this show so much. Chaos! Madness! And just plain ridiculousness!

Blood Atonement Scene

Okay so to begin - we have to say we told you so. As big of a douche bag as Bill has been portrayed all season, he really showed us that he is in every way a good man. He could have easily left his rotten excuse for a father behind, but he didn't. Then, to sacrifice his own life to save everyone? Not many douche bags I know would ever do anything like that. Our hats are off to you this week, Bill.

Side note, it was interesting to find out the reason why Frank banished Bill all those years ago. I wonder if this could possibly be the beginning of a mended relationship?

What in the world was Margene thinking this week? Getting married to Ana's fiance and not even discussing it and the repercussions with any of the family? The more crazy acts she pulls, the more we believe that she does not want to be a part of the family. She has a striving business and can support herself and her children.

Not to mention, it looks like the love between her and Bill is not as steamy as it once was...we think that this will only be the beginning of her ripping away from the family (We are very saddened by this because Margene happens to be our favorite character).

Nicki's mom is pregnant?! WTF mate?! Isn't she like sixty?!

Somehow, as much as there is proof via pregnant stick, we don't believe it. The wacky doctor must be giving her some kind of hormone that makes your body believe that you are pregnant. There's all sorts of ewww that belongs in this storyline.By the way, how creepy was JJ's son? Where do they find all these creepy looking people?

One can only imagine what it is like to be Barb. Her once sane suburban life is now twisted and filled with insanity. We've never been a big fan of her, but we definitely feel bad for her. Even Marilyn has proven to be a snake in the grass.

Speaking of Marilyn, what in the Sam Hill is going on with her and the Evangelicals? Why would they want to plant a bomb at the casino? We knew she was a devil, but we still have no idea why..

It's fun to see the Green's back in on the action. Now that Lois cut the arm off of Hollis, one can only imagine what will type of revenge they will seek on the Henrickson's. We foresee this and many other loose ends coming to a head for Bill and his election.

Noticeably absent this week was Alby. Last week was a huge deal for him and we for sure thought that there would be a big catalyst of events for him this week. But we got nothing. No one really even talked about Dale's suicide. Except Hollis briefly mentioning it to Bill. We foresee this being a huge problem for him in the next episode. What do you guys think?

We loved every second of this week's episode and had to rate it a 5 out of 5 stars - the highest rating and our first in the Big Love season. Until next week, we leave you with a couple Big Love quotes from last night:

Hollis: It would appear that we have a situation.
Lois: How dare you lay a hand on my son. | permalink
Lois: Benny just remember that in the end I loved you like a good pal. | permalink
Bill: I'm not that person you think I'm becoming. | permalink
