No, Lilly Scott Was the Best in Hollywood
With all respect to M.L. House, our resident American Idol expert, I've been glued to season nine so far and must disagree with his assessment:
Andrew Garcia, while perfectly talented and full of potential, was NOT the best singer in Hollywood.
As Kara DioGuardi and my fellow TV Fanatic critic agreed, Garcia was simply replicating a past Idol contestant with his acoustic performance of "Straight Up." It was solid, but not as original as it seemed.
That's why I dub Lilly Scott as the most impressive so far. If American Idol is all about finding a fresh voice, then the discussion starts and ends with Scott. Watch her rendition of Ella Fitzgerald's "Lullaby of Birdland" and tell me you disagree:

I have never watch American Idol before until this season, but I'm actually liking it a bit. Lilly Scott is definitely a talent I would like to look out for. I love her blues/jazz vibe and I hope that America would have an open mind to love her sounds as well.

I think she is incredible. Her voice is mellow, controlled, but she can also blast it out. I'm sorry that Simon stopped her; the little riff she added was beautiful. I'd buy her today if she recorded Lullaby. I only felt that about Cook 2 seasons ago. I hope she has a career regardless of what happens on Idol and that she isn't eliminated for being too "old fashioned."

Very talented, but not sure will have the mass appeal which is needed for American Idol.
