Chuck Review: "Chuck Versus the Tic Tac"

by at . Comments

Holy Casey backstory!  Now we thought last week's episode was going to be a tough act to follow, but Chuck seemed to have no problem with this week's installment.

You knew you were in for a good episode when "Chuck Versus the Tic Tac" opened with Robert Patrick guest starring in a flashback telling the story of how Alex Coburn became John Casey.

Busting Casey Out

Since it's Chuck, we're going to forgive the silly video game-esque 15 level security the team had to test out, but it was definitely pushing just how cheesy we can forgive the show for being.

Other than that scene, this episode had plenty of phenomenal moments including the most impressive action scenes we've seen all season and possibly series.  Sarah lowering herself from the car, spotting the number of badies on the matchbox Casey left behind, and then going 5-on-1?  Not only hot, but also awesome.

Of course, what would goofy Chuck be without its share of comedy?  Morgan definitely brought some of it with his silly, yet productive attempts at spying on Casey.  But the scene we're giving the funny moment of the episode to is when Awesome and Morgan each realized the other knew Chuck's secret.

In other important news, Devon and Ellie decided to stay for Ellie to start her dream fellowship at USC.  We really thought the show was getting rid of these two key characters and that would have been a shame.  Devon brings some serious awesome every week and poor Chuck needs some family in his crazy life.

Overall it was an episode loaded with action, comedy, and plenty of character development.  Plus, as a bonus, no Shaw!  Unfortunately, there was also no Buy More crew save for Morgan.

So we'll leave you with a question: "do you think the pill that Casey gave Chuck was a placebo?" and the usual Chuck quotes after the jump.

Sarah: If we do this and if we get caught we're gonna be caught with treason. You're going to lose everything and you're never going to get a chance to be a real spy. Is that what you want?
Chuck: It's Casey.
Sarah: I was hoping you'd say that. | permalink
Morgan: I thought you were KGB, maybe even a ninja, but in that case your foot steps would have been a lot quieter. | permalink
Beckman: When three of my agents are arrested for treason in twenty four hours it reflects poorly on me. | permalink

I really feel like I'm nitpicking here, but it's John Casey, not James Casey. Enjoyed the commentary, though.
