"But the show will go on without them.week." -> well you're correct about that technically, but truth is, it's getting worst. The few episodes are just getting boring. The whole Owen-Christina thing is for me kinda over-the-top and for me "unbelievable". Callie-Arizona is cute, well the one who plays Callie is phenomenal but puh-lease, sometimes there mini-storylines every episode is weird, disjointed and way out of proportion sometimes that it looks ridiculous. Mer-Der, well, for almost 4 seasons we're done with them with there drama, but God, I quote shonda "You can't be happily-married-if-you-have problems" so that's the reason why she can't bloody give a good storyline for both. Mark-Lexie: can i say, next please" God! Since they've introduced this piece of crap, I was never really into it. then what now? Get Lexie hook up with Alex, because well Alex is the one who sleeps with everyone next to MARK.God! ALEX- whatta way TO GROW UP MAN, go back from being a piece of douchebag! TE

I am glad it is somewhat over. I would feel much better if they killed off the character so that the door will finally close on KH.

Good riddance to Izzie and the pretentious actress who portrays her! I hate when stars get too good to play the part that brought them fame. Can we PLEASE have Dr. Burke now?!

McIntern I completely agree with everything you said. I was hoping Izzie died at the end of last season and I'm not sad to see her go now. It would be great development for Alex's character if he learned from her mom that she died from the cancer. I'd love to see Meredith support him and see how that could bring him and Lexie closer (for real).

So...I kind of saw this coming from a mile away, as I'm sure a lot of people did.
Izzie has never been a character I felt strongly about, until she started hallucinating Denny and having sex with the hallucination. I thought that was kind of a travesty. I will admit that in season 5 I fully expected her to die right after the wedding. Alex was so right when he said he deserved better. I was more than ready for Izzie to make her exit...
...at the end of the season. I think it's a real kick in the teeth to the writers and to us viewers for Katherine to make her exit without at least coming back to just give her character a proper sendoff. I have no idea what the writers are going to pull out from their sleeves to explain why Izzie's NEVER coming back, but I have faith in them. And I think it's absurd to think that Izzie can be recast...as far as I'm concerned, Katherine Heigl IS Izzie Stevens.
However, I don't think this will really impact the show for me because I HAVE NOT missed Izz

Alright so I'm not devastated like everyone else about Izzie's departure. We all knew it was coming. There have been talks of it for almost two years now. I do think Izzie's character and Katherine Heigl as an actress were a great addition to the show. But the show will go on without them. I was getting plenty used to not seeing her week after week.
And for anyone that is threatening to not watch now, fine don't watch thats completely up to you, but don't say that the ratings have dropped since Izzie stopped appearing. Since October the ratings have consistently satyed from about 14- 14.7 million every Thursday. The show will go on without her. There are plenty of talented actors on the show that will keep it alive and well for as long as it is contracted for. I will miss her but I will of course continue to watch.

I'm glad she is not coming back although she should have had enough respect for the creators of this show and her fellow actors to handle it professionally. She should have come back and at least do an episode where there's closure with her character. As usual the only person she is thinking of is herself. I for one will not miss her. I hope her airtime goes to other characters. We should see more airtime for Derek and Meredith, there's plenty of storylines that could be done for those two characters. This last episode Derek had very little airtime. If they start that with Patrick Dempsey, I will stop watching this show. He should be a lead character and should be treated as such. Shonda has no problem with giving major airtime to Kate Walsh in PP. When I think of that wedding being given over to KH, which was a slap in the face to all the MerDer fans, I get mad all over again. Shonda should get new writers or get the ones back from season 1 and 2 and the director. I don't

Izzie was one of my favorite characters. Actually, I love all of the original cast members. I can see if an actor wants to leave a show, but do it with professionalism. Don’t leave them hanging. This show gave a lot of actors their big break. Frankly, the only actors that I heard of before GA was Sandra Oh and Patrick Dempsey. I had never heard of Kathrine Heigl pre GA.

I'm just pissed for the Alex & Izzie storyline. After that beautiful wedding (which i agree with one of the posts said earlier, one of the best tv weddings i've ever seen) and all we get is this? No closure. Well so be it...
I was never a huge fan of Izzie anyways but i adored her friendship with George. So then when he started getting little screen time in Season 4 and then DEAD (and still, barely acknowledging he even died IMO), it lost it's magic...
I've barely even had the urge to watch the latest episode because of how much it's sucking this season.
I just wish Katherine had the courtesy to give fans of a show that made her, i don't know... a bit more respect than this?

Grey's without Izzie and George just isn't the same. BIG mistake. I was a huge fan until season 6...No interesting story lines, half of the characters I don't really get. I miss the true Alex, the friendship between George and Izzie, emotional Izzie,...
Especially sad that we don't get to say goodbye to Izzie...

I think Izzie Stevens should come back for at least one episode to divorce Alex and to decide what are they going to do with the frozen embryos. They need to decide custody of embryos, come on.

I do not even know where to begin. It is just so frustrating..... this season has really been a disappointment to me. I have been a faithful and loyal fan from day 1, when it came on after Desperate Housewives that Sunday night. Don't get me wrong, this season has been good, but nothing in comparison to past seasons. Something just doesn't feel right. I loved Izzie..... I loved everything about her. I loved George! I loved Izzie with George. I loved Izzie with Denny and I loved dead Denny! I love Alex and the man Alex is or was with Izzie. It just all seems lost now. I was just watching the episode with the bomb in the guys stomach, and then when Denny died. It was such a fantastic show back then. Shonda needs to get back to the essence of the show. It has gone way off the mark lately. It is very sad that Katherine Heigl decided to end Izzie. No one can replace her as Izzie. It would not be the same. Happy it's over. Not sad she's leaving Grey's. After all the whining I'm fed up with her diva behaviour. Let her go on and make B-movies that aren't funny and have no substance at all, instead of having a good pay-check and a daily routine which will allow her to provide for her daughter well enough and give her good stories to act on! Leaving Grey's for the movies she has made? She was better on Grey's! Diva-like behaviour doesn't look good on anyone. The Grey's cast seems like a genuine group who supports and respects each other, anyone who thinks so big about himself doesn't belong there in my opinion. She should have been thankful for all Shonda has done for her!

Stupid!!!! Izzie is one of my favorite characters! Heigl should get over herself and join the show again. Also, the Grey's team should stop being idiots and let her come back. Damn it all!

i am so sad. izzie has always been my favorite character. her and alex were perfect for each other; now it seems like their wedding did not even mean anything. i have been waiting for izzie to come back, but now there is no real reason to watch. ga has not been very good since the start of season 6, especially now that only 3 of the 5 interns are still there. ga will never be the same. Izzie was portrayed as an immature jerk this season. I think she should have died of cancer when george died. that would have made it a more meaningful ending. the writers did a really poor job with her storyline in my opinion. im really going to miss her.

All I can say is thank goodness. From all of her talk show appearances and interviews, Katherine Heigl has acted like a prima donna and diva who thought that a mere starring role on a TV show was beneath her. I hope that her nonprofessional behavior returns to bite her in the behind when it comes to that "movie career" she's working so hard on. I wish she'd give up trying to be America's Sweetheart and just go away. Grey's hasn't missed her while she was gone, and I don't really think anyone else would either.

I have been waiting for this announcement to be made, and yes, I did know it was going to happen eventually. It shouldn't surprise anyone at all. Remember the last episode we saw Izzie? Alex dumped her. If the warning lights didn't start flashing in your mind when that happened you weren't paying attention.
Katherine Heigl was given a lame excuse for an exit much the way Brooke Smith's (Erica Hanh) character was. She "left" within the world of the show so at least people know what ultimately happened to her. Oh well.
I would have liked a proper "goodbye" episode and will admit it's kind of disheartening that she's gone, but it certainly doesn't surprise me at all. At the least it's a load off my mind since there's no more "is she staying or is she going?" questions left to be asked.
Now we know that Izzie is gone for good.

I hate this! The only thing i was looking forward to was izzie's return , and now it won't happen??! I really don't feel like watching Grey's anymore. They can't just end it like this!!

From my point of view this show should of been ended from last year. They should write a great finale and end the show. If they aren't able to keep the main cast and a fine story line for them, then I think everyone will have more to gain if the show is ending. All shows which had 10 great seasons had the main cast from the first till the last episode and the story line was great for each of them until the last episode. I don't know what happend, the writers ... aren't payed anymore? Even I can write a script better then they did for the last sason.
I did not saw an episode as bad as the last one! There is no magic anymore.

Oh man, I've been watching all these episodes only to keep up so i could enjoy it again when Izzie would be back. But now that's never happening! Well, I guess this is it, I won't be watching anymore because I don't give a damn about al those stupid characters and patients anymore.
