White Collar Season Finale Review: "Out of the Box"

at . Comments

Last night wrapped up the first season and boy did our boys go out with a bang - literally! And we surely did not see that one coming!

We were curious how everything would end and what choice Neal would choose - to follow his heart (Kate) or do what he knew would be the more honest choice and stay.

Fowler catches Peter

"Out of the Box" showed us that White Collar is here to stay!

As much as we loved how tirelessly romantic Neal is about Kate, we don't think she deserves it.

In fact. we really like Alex! She's hot, smart, and fun. Plus, from the looks of the two of them naked in the swimming pool, there is definitely an attraction there. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that next season Neal doesn't waste too much time moping about over the loss of Kate.

Speaking of, do you really think Kate died? We've got a feeling Kate is like a cat with many lives and will come back next season. Maybe she was even in on it and wanted the plane to explode with Neal in it? Wouldn't that be a dark twist?

The last couple seconds before Neal was about to board the plane, really had us guessing whether he turned around to stay or to just say good-bye. Either way, we know Fowler is the one behind the bomb. He has to be! But, how will Peter and Neal prove it?

Elizabeth's role again was just an accent part of the show. We hate to admit it, but we really don't feel any on screen chemistry between her and Peter. Hopefully next season things will heat up!

All in all, the boys knew how to bring it and kept us highly entertained throughout the episode. What did you guys think of the season finale?

Until next season, we leave you with a couple of our favorite White Collar quotes after the jump!

Peter: You said goodbye to everyone but me. Why?
Neal: You know why.
Peter: Tell me.
Neal: Because you are the only one who could change my mind. | permalink
Neal: You and Peter - how did you really know?
Elizabeth: Well, I think there is a difference between loving the idea of someone and actually loving who they are. | permalink
Neal: I'm an internationally known art thief and tonight I am here to rob you - cheers! | permalink
Mozzie: We feel free when we escape even if it will be from the frying pan to the fire. | permalink

Awww I wanted to see Kate and Neal together, I didn't want her to die they have so much unexplored history :(. Don't like Alex she's not the love of Neal's life - Kate is.... was *cries*

Neal & Alex need to get together 100% agreed!!! And, I have had my suspicions that Kate isn't dead... The most recent episode proves these suspicions even more...

Does anyone know the name of the music that is playing at 10:40 during this episode.

Kate is alive! I dont trust her. and yes there was more then enough time for kate to get of that plane. And dont!! bring more women as FBI on the show. (Put one women FBI in a ally with a gun against 5 big men what is she going to do notta damn thing who cares its 21st centry,)

I also would love to see more of Elizabeth. She was getting more screen time but then was relegated to only a few lines. They relied on her sitting at a table, loose clothing, and quick frontal shots. Since she's due in May I don't know how many episodes she may miss as the series resumes in June.
The party behind Fowler has to be pretty powerful. To kill 3 people (pilot, co-pilot, and Kate) and blowing up a multimillion dollar jet would be above Fowlers pay grade.
Love the fact that the writers play real loose with the location of landmarks and their putting an airport on the west side of Manhattan is something else. No way. The only thing in Manhattan is a heliport and if I'm not mistaken it's on the east side.

* LOVED the ending! Yes, we know Fowler owes someone higher up, so there's an open question as to which one of them is ultimately responsible for the explosion. And yes, Kate is dead; to have snuck away with Neal boarding the plane would have been impossible, and if she'd stayed on with Neal that would have left her to die with him had he been a bit faster about getting on board; conversely, he would have noticed upon boarding if she'd been missing, so the notion that she escaped and might be responsible won't fly. So to speak. ;D
* Love Ellie and Peter (YES THEY DO have chemistry, and she's clever); but they have to give her character more to do/more involvement in the plots -- she's too interesting to be mere decoration. And it's good to see at least one healthy, stable, and still quite romantic relationship that works among all those dysfunctionals.
* Need more of Lauren (Natalie Morales: she rocks!!) -- at last, a woman who isn't charmed by Neal and can (and does) give him the needed reality check; why aren't we seeing more of her? One gal NEEDS to stay immune, if only to keep Neal on his toes.
* That said, Alex should return; she can be the countervailing force, always tempting Neal to do just one more tiny little job ... and let's face it: the boy's gonna need to get laid once in a while, now that the (dubious) love of his life is gone, neh?
* Thank heavens for the return of Marsha Thomason! SOooooo underused, and not just in this series. Besides, it's good for Peter to have a really whip-smart female colleague who's closer to a peer than a protege: he shouldn't be sharing every single little detail re: work with Ellie, yet sometimes a female point of view at work is a very necessary contribution. And Lauren isn't senior enough to be his work confidante. This is the 21st century, yet Peter has only one woman on his team; fix that, guys.
* We all want to see Fowler get kicked and nailed; but first, he needs to squirm -- and the person(s) who put him up to all this intrigue should do the squeezing. Moreover, the reveal as to who that might be should have a long story arc, but with occasional crumbs trailing regularly in that direction. Perhaps Marsha Thomason's character, given that she's based in DC and so, presumably, is the mystery-manager, can help with some of that ...
Wow; seems I might be impatient awaiting the series' return. But at least it's coming back: GOODY!

I for one loved the season finale and believe Kate did die. My theory is that the plane carrying both Kate and Neal was to explode over water thereby getting rid of witnesses to the crime Fowler and whoever is pulling his strings committed.
As Neal survived he has paperwork that shows he won't have an ankle monitor and is free to come and go as he likes. Would get rid of the tired line "i'm going to put you back in prison" every time Neal does something that irks Peter.
Can't wait for June to find out.

I loved the season finale. I think Kate did die, I mean at least now it'll give Neal a reason to stick with the FBI and find who did this. Though I didn't get when Neal asked Elizabeth
Neal: You and Peter - how did you really know?
Elizabeth: Well, I think there is a difference between loving the idea of someone and actually loving who they are.
I didn't quite know what he was talking about. Also, I laughed my butt off when Peter punched Fowler, he had what was coming to him.

I love the show. I think Neal is a very charming, handsome, intelligent theif. I can hardly wait for the next series to begin.
I watch the old shows over and over again trying not to miss a word. Congratulations, Mr Eastin on creating this hit show. It is
intelligently written and it is captivating. Bring on more
of that kind of entertainment. When will the series begin again?

Great season finale have watched it a few times already. I love the scene in the Burke offices when Fowler interrupts Els business and then Peter shows up to punch him that was great. El and Peter aka Tim and Tiffany have great chemistry. Not sure what you want them two to do next season to prove it but they show a loving couple. Two people have careers but care deeply for each other. And Neal and Peter also rock; Peter still trying to convince neal to do the right thing was great. Tim and Matt are also great in scenes together. Show rocks can't wait to see the second season.
