I suppose is helps that Nina Dobrev is Bulgarian and speaks the language fluently. Is Katherine Bulgarian in the books too? Did Nina's heritage have anything to do with why they hired her or did that make Katherine Bulgarian because of it. very good episode

but in interviews and stuff Kevin Williamson has said that Damon/Elena will happen this season
i dont have a source at the moment but look at the manyyyy different Delena forum post and u'll find one
so they will be together in some way, but everyone is expecting a sex scene....and that is what probably wont happen

Am I the only that noticed that when Klaus killed her family he killed people that look suspiciously like they could have been Katherine's sisters? Because sisters carry the same bloodline and unless Klaus is retarded, he would have left them alive to have children and thus get another doppelganger. Or are we just expected to believe that those were

OMG, thought this episode was great! Elena broke my heart at the end when she was crying her heart out... Stefan in tears is sooo hot! I burst into tears myself as I was so sad for them. Stefan loves her so much and he would do anything to save her and he was in such pain for her, you can totally see it.

I'm unfortunately starting to lose hope about damon and elena.... they barely had any contact this episode and he slept with rose. I will seriously get pissed off if he moves on from Elena just as soon as she starts to fall for him haha

Nina just deserves a freaking award for all the acting she had to do on last nights episode.... omg! the episode blew my mind for sure... I loved every second of it and very mad about the two week break...what is that for?????

@Vance- I'm not really really wrong. If you would read again, I never said that she didnt want Elena to die. I said that she wanted to do it herself to get a pardon from Klaus. So when she said that Elena was in danger, she wasnt necessarily lying.

She can save those around her: by taking the same action Katherine took over 500 years ago.
Elena can only save herself by turning into a vampire, she can't save the people around her. If they're all going to stay alive, it'll be a group effort. Plus, if Elena turns, Klaus and his fellow Originals will kill everyone around her.

Nina Dobrev was amazing last night, granted I don't speak or know bulgarian but it sounded very real! Everything is coming together in one furious heap, it is crazy! I of course love it and pissed I have to wait until December now!!

I loved last nights episode as I do every night. Great job to Nina for her acting all the very different rolls, love her. Great show love it so much look forward to Thursday every week. Cant wait till December 2nd.

i am im love with nina dobrev's portrayal of katherine AND elena!!! this episode was a bit slow paced yes, but it was so interesting, my eyes were just getting wider and wider. I LOVE ROSEE TOOOO!!!

Actually, you got it wrong tvfanatic. Klaus was angry at Katherine for turning that he killed her whole family as revenge. He will do the same to Elena family if she so desire to turn.

I am madly in love with Elijah no matter how dangerous he is. The originals can compelled other vampires, how cool is that. Of course, Elena and Stefan was boring to me like always.

i see the next "Diaries" is not until December 2nd! SOOOO........WE WAIT! I saw an interview with the primary cast members, writers and producers.they all kept talking about "all the twists" this year. i am sure theb character of Katherine will be kept alive for more than one reason......she makes great story lines!!

Katherine admitted she was only out to save herself.
That said, she also had tears in her eyes when looking at the drawing of her family--only the audience saw this so we can take it as a sign of some regret on her part. Rose said it--the older you get, the harder it is to turn off the emotion switch; you simply have to pretend.
So how much is Katherine pretending? What would be the purpose of her pretending to be selfish, if that's what's going on?

@Lindsay: Katherine said she needs a werewolf AND a witch AND a vampire AND a doppleganger to break the curse. Elena is the only one of the latter that we know of.
