I'm Dairing so hard right now.
I wasn't keen at first, and couldn't understand why the writers would do that to me - a loyal Chair fan. Now I'm not sure whether I like writers more or less for being so much more intelligent than me...
Dair are perfect in so many ways. They share wit, intelligence and common ground. Ever since Bad News Blair they have shared an understanding, despite coming from two different worlds. Personality wise, I find Blair and Dan so much more natural than any other relationship that Gossip Girl has shown us.
Penn and Leighton are both talented actors that are bringing this story to life and into my mind. It's not often that I become passionate about two make believe characters, but I really find myself rooting for these two.
I was close to giving up on Gossip Girl, but these two are keeping me coming back for more.
Bravo writers, bravo.

all the time I prayed that there won't be "DAIR", but now I'm kinda "dair"-fan :D
of course nothings better than "chair" but atm it would be great to see a blair-dan hook up also because they're carrying the show.the other storylines are boring and ridicolous.

Also, the reason why most of the viewers did not like Dan before his storyline with Blair could be because he was coupled with boring characters: Serena, Vanessa. I always found him entertaining alone or now with Blair.

Writers, please don't mess the DAIR storyline up - WE LOVE THE SLOW BUILD UP.
Also, I would rather have Blair be single than be with egocentric, selfish Chuck. When she was with him, it was all about him. With Dan, it is about HER!
Dan is not selfish, he is capable of true feelings. Don't want Serena to hurt him again. Want him to find love with Blair, who is a more stable person in her relationships.

Blair and Dan have incredible chemistry, I am actually shocked. Pen and Leighton just act so well together. Dan and Blair made me love this episode. I totally agree with the review. And I am loving next weeks trailer. Keep going with Dan and Blair- they are great to watch. Even if they just end up as friends- I want the scenes with them to continue. Its rare to see such a relationship really grow week by week.
On to the others. Please Vanessa just stay away. If they must bring someone back can it be Georgina? She's a great character! And can Damien just leave already. Really an alliance with Russell? Really? Ben seems to slowly be going to the dark side. And can we maybe throw Nate a real story line? I liked SereNate... throw him in with Ben and Serena. However I do agree that Nate seems to have more chemistry with Raina.
Overall I'm excited to see where the rest of the season is going. Sad that another long break is coming up.

Dair just make me fucking screaming. Penn and Leighton have amazing chemistry together. And not just the sexual chemistry like Chuck & Blair, but also the emotional chemistry. The Bass Industries storyline is so BORING, Nate & Raina WTF ?, Serena & Ben WHO CARES ?, Vanessa coming back WHY ?, Damien HE'S GOOD LOOKING so it's ok for me to have him around. I was bored as hell. Just payed attention during the Dair scenes.

@Kitty Yeah, I agree with what you're saying on how these two characters need to find comfort with one another. I like how they're able to find common ground despite their constant disagreements because I think they both need that right now. For me, I see their situation as them watching the people that they love fall into the arms of another person and that's difficult for them. So I like how they're finding comfort but I'm not really leaning towards any kind of romantic relationship between them.

@Caitlyn:
Yes, its pretty obvious that Blair's heart is still with Chuck. Thats what I like with the Dair story. It is not just about having Dair hook up, but for the moment they actually just comfort each other. I love that the show is respectful enough towards Chair and Derena to have Dan and Blair struggle to move on (as opposed to Chuck...)
And at the same time it also gives Dair a common ground to bond and become closer in a realistic way :)

I think that although the main plot of this episode revolved around the Serena-Eric-Lily-Damien debacle, it was Blair who really brought this episode to life. I'm not completely sold on the Serena and Ben pairing nor am I leaning towards Dan and Blair entirely. I know that they have had good moments and while I'm watching them they seem ideal. But after watching the episode, I couldn't help but take a step back and remember the relationship between Chuck and Blair. Based on the development that they've been giving to Dan and Blair as a couple, I'd think they're good together. But when you look outside of the Dan-Blair box, you'll see that Chuck is still there. Even if they shouldn't be together at the moment, it's obvious where Blair's heart still is.
PS I don't get why Vanessa had to come. I thought the show was a lot better without her.

Okay, so @ all the Chair fans:
I love Chair as well. But that doesn't change the fact, that RIGHT NOW they shouldn't be together. A show can only break and repair a relationship so many times before the whole thing gets boring and predictable. Also it kinda ruines the characters in my opinion, because the viewer will just get really annoyed with all the back and forth. If you draw this out too long everybody will just wish they would make up their mind already and be done with it.
Same with Derena. I LOVE these two together, but lately their attempt to rekindle their relationship every other week got a little ridiculous. Even Blair called Serena's love for Dan "sporadical" in a recent episode. Completely true. I didn't really take them seriously anymore (which is a shame)
Chair had almost 3 seasons just about them, which i LOVED. Then they broke up (for very valid reasons I might add) and already tried to make up this season.
Putting them back together now would ruin them fore

@ Kitty, I agree with you also! It's a wonder Chace Crawford is still around and haven't left the show yet, because really, just like Rufus, he's becoming part of the set. No storyline. Whatsoever. If Dair are so sensational why have the ratings dropped so markedly? I'll tell you why. Chair was so totally screwed over by the writers that they are trying to make amends. However "cutesy" Dair may appear superficially, this show was never intended to be about sweet friendships that revolve around pizza and movies. I want scandals and drama and chaotic love. Otherwise I wouldn't be tuning in to tv. Everyday life is mundane enough.

Oh, and btw, Ben and Serena have ZERO chemistry and Nate really needs a storyline that is not just about him falling half-way for a new girl and loosing her again. Did he ever have a really serious relationship that lasted longer than a couple of episodes?
I know he and Serena lasted kinda long in GG-time, but I still...
And what is he doing anyway? Is he still studying? And what is he studying? I feel like we don't know ANYTHING about him anymore (other than who he is dating for the week of course *rolleyes*)

@ThegGreyOne:
I totally agree with you. The slowly built up relationships are pretty rare on GG these days. Seems like everybody is "falling in love" with yet another person on a weekly basis. (Except Blair that is) Just look at Chuck. It took him 2 whole seasons to finally confess his feelings for Blair and this season alone he already had like 2 love interests that he deeply cared about??? That would be too fast even for a normal person, but for Chuck is is just ridiculous!!!
Also love the comparisons with Joey/Pacey or Veronica/Logan. These writers proved that they were open minded enough to see where the story took them instead of just desperately hanging on to a plan they made years ago for their "perfect couple".
I hope the GG writers will do the same!

What I found most interesting (and the writers should probably get the freakin' clue) that even die-hard Chair fans are turning into devoted Dair fans or at least not opposing it at all.
And it's not just because of Penn's and Leighton's awesome chemistry, it's because, after a loooong time, we finally AGAIN get a relationship that's being BUILT UP.
Take season 1. Serena's and Dan's relationship had many followers because it was *developed*. We even believed Nate's and Blair's romance because we were being told their history. Then came Chair. Perfectly written and executed.
And then, in the 2nd half of season 2 and the whole season 3, we got these weekly hook-ups which were annoying and unbelievably out-of-character.
So this whole Dair phenomenon, in my opinion, is kinda like a cry-out from many-many GG fans for the writers to WRITE WELL-DEVELOPED ROMANCE STORYLINES!! Not these fake things that last like 2 seconds. Ugh.

Serena-Oh my God, get over Ben! He looks at least 40 and he's ugly and has no charm, she's dating him out of guilt. They have no chemistry and it's just boring.
Blair-Love her to death, love Dair. Of course I want Chair together in the end, but she can settle with Dan for now since Chuck is being more boring than a rock with the whole Thorpe plotline. Believe it or not, Gossip Girl isn't about business deals.

There is a reason why Ben and Serena do not have any chemistry and why they are not supposed too. For one, he's really not that into her, wasn't when they first met either; he has bigger fish to fry. He wants someone to pay for him losing his life. First he thought the culprit was Serena and now he knows its Lily. He was willing to go to almost drugs and death to make Serena pay, so based on past doings, it's obvious he would use Serena to get at Lily. What did he tell Juliet, to get inside.... As much as he hates Damien, I think he's more worried he's going to get in the way of some master plan he has. There's a reason he's here and it's not to fall in love with S, I mean the writers could have just put her back with Nate these past few weeks, at least then Nate would have had a storyline. Although S being occupied with Ben does make room for the Dair storyline. And did anyone else catch the quote and attitude from S when she showed up at W and asked Dan "What are you doing here?"

I am now a team DAIR member as well. I used to really like the Chuck and Blair relationship, because they have such chemistry, but he really has treated her terribly and doesn't deserve her. Blair and Dan are really the most interesting part of the show these days. I can't stand Serena, she is flighty and fickle, and she thinks that she is above it all, when she is not. The number of guys she's been "serious" about is ridiculous and none of the guys seem to hold a grudge about it! I always liked Vanessa and thought Dan would have been better with her than Serena. Vanessa was willing to help him with the baby and always stood by him, she was screwed over with the situation with Juliet. I really like Blair and Dan, but would settle with seeing him with Vanessa again. Nate is BORING, he's a 2 dimensional character that relies on his good looks, and I don't think he's THAT good looking. Chuck is getting a little old with his shenanigans, and I would love to see him change it up.
