America's Next Top Model Review: Makeover Drama!

at .

Hindsight is 20/20.

It’s the second week in a row that ANTM has mentioned John Galliano. Obviously, it was filmed before the Galliano fallout, but still, I’m surprised producers haven’t cut offending remarks about praise to him. In actual show news, the girls finally meltdown at their impending makeover doom, and inevitable drama ensues! Let’s break it down.

Makeover Time
The Makeover:

It’s makeover time... dum dum dum!  The girls get an extra dose of anxiety when Tyra sends them a little preview of the makeovers they will be getting without specifying who will be subjected to which makeover.  The girls freak out over “manly” and “short Dutch boy” and, really, who wants to be a short Dutch (female) boy?

Brittany does! And she looks fabulous, too! Miss J freaks out over poor, sweet Jaclyn by threatening her with a razor, although she takes it in stride.  Psyche!  Alexandria cries about fake hair and lectures the hairdressers. Honestly, after 15 cycles, you would think girls would have learned something.  Don’t question Tyra and her vision!

The Photoshoot:

Lori Goldstein and Co. are in charge of the shoots with gorgeous haute couture gowns and high fashion themes. The girls are put in teams of two to shoot together in a beautiful ranch.

Alexandria’s insanely annoying nature comes through during the photoshoot, to the point that Lori Goldstein finds her irritating. At least a professional recognizes that she’s difficult to work with, even if her photoshoot was high fashion material.

The Judges Table:

The diva team of Monique and Alexandria do well, but Goldstein makes it a point to call out Alexandria for her rude behavior. Go Lori!  Props to Goldstein for being such a knowledgeable and articulate judge; she’s spot on in her critiques and praises.

Not since Jade of Cycle 6 has anyone been quite so irritating, and I was quite surprised that Tyra did not chastise Alexandria for her appalling behavior at the makeover salon. The fact that she gets first call-out for best picture is a green light to continue her awful attitude.

My personal favorite are Team Brittani and Hannah; their photoshoot is gorgeous and their makeovers are beautiful also.

Androgynous Sara and freckled Dominique are in the bottom two; both definitely have unique looks that might not be conventionally beautiful, making their jobs difficult. Neither handled their makeovers well either; in the end Dominique is sent home for her lack of confidence.

How do you feel about Alexandria’s behavior? Who had your favorite makeover look? Sound off below!
