Grey's Anatomy Season 8 Spoilers: Will Derek and Meredith Reconcile? Will Cristina Keep the Baby?
While this is not the last season of Grey's Anatomy, it could well be the swan song for Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo, whose contracts are up at the end of the spring.
On that front, Shonda Rhimes is proceeding as if "everything's going to work out."
"I know both Patrick and Ellen are excited about the idea of continuing, but that doesn't mean everything's going to work," the executive producer tells TV Guide.
Either way, regarding Season 8, Rhimes has some good news for MerDer fans ...
"While the couple ended last season apart thanks to the rift over the clinical trial, "we open the [first] episode with Derek working on their dream house."
"I would love to have them moving in around the end of the season."
The catalyst for their reconciliation? Shonda says, "Baby Zola is transformative for Meredith, and what happens will be painful, unexpected and wonderful."
As for Cristina's unplanned pregnancy, we'll know by the end of the September 22 season premiere whether or not she keeps the baby. Think she will?
Other story lines in the works for the coming Grey's Anatomy Season 8:
- A giant sinkhole opens in a Seattle street during the two-hour premiere.
- New chief resident April will likely lose her virginity ... but to whom?
- We'll be introduced Jackson's mom, possibly played by Debbie Allen.
- The continued declining health of Alzheimer's-stricken Adele Webber.
- A Shepherd family reunion for Derek and his mother and sisters.

Derek should take Meredith to the family reunion, and them be happy again and they bring baby Zola!!!!! Would be nice!

I actually thought that Yang was unable to have children. I thought that Dr. Montgomery was unable to save the tubes. Anyway, she should keep her Mcbaby, Lexi should reconcile with McSteamy,Avery should take his friendship with McVirgin to the next level, and Alex should MCLEAVE!! Just kidding. I love him. Come Back Izzy.As for Derek and Meredith, You guys are Perfect together. Just enjoy each other and baby Zola and move into your Mcdream house. For the love of God, DONT LEAVE!!!!!!! How will there be a Grey's Anatomy with no Dr. Grey. (Sorry Lexi)

I can't wait for the new season! I'm excited to see what happens with Derek and Meredith. I'm going to go against the norm and say that I love Lexi and Jackson together.
I think April and Sloan might be an interesting pair. She is more mature and better able to handle the responsibilities that come with Mark's family. Plus, who else is there for her to sleep with? I do hope Christina keeps the baby. We got to see briefly in season 2 how upset Christina was about the ectopic pregnancy. I think if she has the abortion it will really hurt her. I like to see Izzy come back. I miss the nice Alex. Regardless, it should be an interesting season!

I am so excited for season 8!! I'm so addicted to GA that I have been watching the old seasons on Lifetime! I hope meridith and Derek get back together I live them an totally agree with everyone else, I hope all the old couples get back together as well Lexi and Sloan and owne an cristina stay and keep the baby! Cristina will be interesting to watch prego. Ahhhh Soo PUMPED!!! ;)
