Ian Somerhalder to Rolling Stone: The Vampire Diaries to Kick Ass!
A blood-starving Stefan. A star-crossed relationship. A new, dangerous villain.
The Vampire Diaries is clearly gearing up for a strong, suspenseful third season - premiering on September 15! In less than a month! - and Ian Somerhalder sees this as the perfect time to recruit new fans, such as those obsessed with a certain franchise on the big screen.
“The whole Twilight thing is about to be over," the actor tells Rolling Stone. "And teenage girls can’t watch True Blood with their parents - that would just get weird. So we’re getting ready to kick some major ass this season.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Nina Dobrev is asked about portraying Elena and Katherine and responds: “They’re both in me. They’re both challenging, but they both feed a different part of my soul.”
As for life on set? What is it like between cast members? "A total frickin' lovefest," according to Somerhalder.

@steven, I don't think you have to worry about a whole filler arc about Damon spooning over Elena. To a degree we are all Delena or Stefana fans, but we're not crazy enough to destroy the plot of the TVD. There'll be plenty of arcs for Jeremy & Vicki/Anna/Matt, Caroline with Tyler, Klaus with Stefan, extra guest star characters, Alaric being a father role to Elena, and Yes, also Elena/Damon interaction.
Therefore, it'll be a small fraction of what you have to watch. Endure and persevere.

I'm soooo excited for the arrival of season 3 that I can't wait any longer. If it's going to be all about Damon, then the show might go weird and if Elena forgets about Stefan and falls for Damon, that means the show will go topsy turvy and all the stuff that Elena told to Stefan will become a loving lie. What I want in this season to happen is to have Klaus and Katherine out of the picture cause they're getting on my nerves and messing with my favorite stars. I want season 3 to be filled with epic events and action. I'm getting to much impatient. XD =) =P

Not another season of the Damon show please. If it's suppose to be the year of Klaus and the Originals please make it that. I don't want to have to endure another season of the crying/whining Damon chasing Elena.
