While we're still lacking for Gossip Girl sneak previews and photos (save for some of the scandalous scenes captured on set) in advance of the September 26 premiere, the CW has released an updated synopsis for the series that hints at what the UES crowd has been up to this summer.

If we've learned one thing from this, it's that gossip is an international pastime.

Take a look at what the network has in store for us and comment below:

Will She Choose the Dark Knight?

What has happened since this night, and what will come next?

Spotted: Our favorite Upper East Siders scattered around the world for one sizzling summer. If you think Manhattan had enough secrets and scandals to keep me busy, just wait until you see the souvenirs our sexy socialites have brought back home with them.

Looks like gossip is global as Gossip Girl returns for its fifth season!

Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) has spent a fabulous summer with her fiancé, Prince Louis (guest star Hugo Becker), in her future kingdom of Monaco. But when Blair returns home from the holiday, this Princess-to-be will quickly learn that planning a royal wedding can be a royal pain. And the fallout from Blair and Chuck's (Ed Westwick) heartbreaking decision to let each other go isn't making life easier.

Meanwhile, Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) scored the perfect summer job in sunny Los Angeles, working for an A-list director. Being in California has clearly allowed Serena to discover a new sense of purpose, but will the return of her cousin Charlie (Kaylee DeFer), in actuality a struggling actress Aunt Carol paid to impersonate her daughter, threaten to ruin everything? Only time will tell.

Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) enjoyed a hedonistic summer trip around the globe but, when they stop in Los Angeles to visit Serena, things quickly spin out of control. Nate falls into bed with a sexy and mysterious older woman, Diana Payne (guest star Elizabeth Hurley), who has more in store for him than he knows. And a seemingly carefree Chuck is chasing down exotic adrenaline rushes that might put his life in real danger.

After a relaxing summer in the Hamptons, Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), has his whole world shattered when he discovers that Vanessa has gone behind his back and found an editor to anonymously publish his autobiographical novel, INSIDE. Dan's terrified of all his friends and family reading his critique of New York high society, but will he say no to the fame and fortune that comes with being a published author? It's anybody's guess.

So watch out Upper East Siders, this season nobody's safe, and everybody's going to be sorry…. XOXO Gossip Girl.

Filmed in New York and based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl is from Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Josh Schwartz (Chuck, The O.C.), Stephanie Savage (The O.C.), Leslie Morgenstein (The Vampire Diaries), Bob Levy (The Vampire Diaries) and Joshua Safran.

Am waiting for a piece of jenny on season 5.she always kept blair on her toes and both brooklyn and the uppereast side interesting. Though i think nate should be given a new storyline apart from new girlfriends.blair and dan hooking up will be the gossip of the year!!!poor louis...and hoo. Finally...i cant wait to see what charlie and georgina are up to!

maybe chuck is going through, the same way bella of new moon goes through...became an adrenalin rush... just to to feel something after the emptiness of being sooo brokenhearted...

I'm suffering from a bad case of Chair-abstinence.
And as a Derenafan I really hope that Dan's romantic feelings for Blair will fade QUICK.

Uncle jackass

Much like the movie inception, I think think that: "Positive spins always trumps negative experiences," Therefore I hope for redemption arc focusing on the individual characters of Serena, Dan, Blair, and Chuck specifically this season. I agree that there is a lot of soap opera non-sense which needs to be rectified as soon as possible. Serena needs to grow up which this synopsis indicates some personal growth. Dan needs a good whack in the head for being a door mat. I wished Blair would grow some independence and become a fashion queen. While Chuck needs some redemption and I don't know how, but he needs to molded to become the character at the end of the novels series. Its a great shame that the writers keep making him so degenerate.

After season 4, I m not holding any hope for season 5.

I'm looking forward to this season. Despite the general consensus, I really do hope they can finally leave the Chuck and Blair romance behind. Let's be honest… it's become so repetitive and depressing. It's time for something new! I wasn't up for this Louis storyline at the beginning but now I'm thinking: go for it. I actually hope that they make something good out of Louis/Blair. I don't think Hugo Becker was given a fair chance to establish the character last season, everything was so rushed, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. More than anything I just want to see Blair emotionally free from Chuck Bass, I want Serena to be likeable again and I hope the Ivy plot won't be a repetition of Juliette in S4… and I would like a storyline for Nate that doesn't just involve a new girlfriend (or 2)! I really miss the way the show was in Season 1 and 2 and I hope they can get some of the 'lightness' back.

The 1st paragraph already has me rolling my eyes. 'Heartbreaking decision'? More like 'finally, a long overdue end to crap the soap opera'. But wait, gave them 2 much credit this silly ship stil xists. For a smart person Blair is making STUPID decisions.

im so excited for the storyline of chuck and blair but also feel so excited to know what will happen to dan when his bk is published:)

Viviana b waldorf bass

super excited!!!

Where are thie pictures with the ducks? I haven't seen them yet, but the idea of Chuck and Blair feeding the ducks together is adorable.

Gossip Girl

[to Jenny] That's the thing. You need to be cool to be queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off. So her daughter Elizabeth made a vow never to marry a man. She married a country. Forget boys. Keep your eye on the prize, Jenny Humphrey. You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you. For what it's worth, you're my Queen. I choose you.
