It wasn't their best effort in premieres, IMO. MW did a fine job, nice to see a change of pace with Tony. I always enjoy NCIS even on a bad day, but this one didn't really leave me on pins & needles wanting to see more of this particular arc.

I agree with the others this ncis episode was disappointed, all summer we were told this was going to be the best season opening yet. If this is the best I would hate to see the worst. I felt used.

I agree that the plethora of flashbacks was distracting, but overall, I thought the show worked well. Very pleased to see the deeper side of DiNozzo, and would like to see more of it. Kate's sister as the attending doctor was jarring -- I know she was in a previous episode (which I LOVED), but hadn't realized that her relationship with NCIS was supposed to be a recurring one, and in this episode, she seemed to come out of "nowhere." If she's going to be a permanent, if peripheral, part of the team, I'd like to see that loose end tied up neatly. The ending was a wowser!

Ladies and gentlemen, a word.
Please, please, stop being stupid. This is the season premiere. It's supposed to raise more questions than it answers. That's the point of the season premiere, to open up new storylines that will be resolved throughout the season. If you are confused and left wanting for answers, that is the point.

No, Cade isn't a bad guy. SECNAV only thinks Cade is a bad guy. Methinks Cade was only tapped as the baddy because PHANTOM EIGHT needed a scapegoat, and with Cade so close to Levin, who was probably a PHANTOM EIGHT member who didn't sign on to the whole "Betray your country for cash" gig, he made a convenient scapegoat.

It was not my favorite episode. First, let me say that Michael Weatherly is SUCH an underrated actor. He can be funny and he can be serious. Both are good. Next, all of a sudden, Cade is a bad guy? What, no explanation at all? It felt like the end of a book where you feel the author is tired of writing and they just say "and they all lived happily ever after." Too many facts thrown at us trying to wrap up the past in too little time. Disappointing beginning to the season.

I agree with Grounded from past post, don't turn NCIS into a Soap. I did not like this episode. The actors were in fine form as always. The storyline was lousey due to writing. Thank God for my NCIS DVDS.

EJ was neither a bad seen nor a hero. She simply was a Senior Supervisory Agent who wanted to do her job. Gibbs didn't trust or respect her at first, supposedly because he picked up on her being the SECNAV's niece. His hostility and work undermining the investigation and her authority was completely uncalled for though.
She's simply a good person and a good SSA who got transferred halfway around the world, received one hell of an unfriendly welcome from the locals, and so reacted accordingly. Team Gibbs acted really unprofessional last Season, but that's no fault of EJ's.
I liked it MW and MH did a great acting Job. yeah it didn't have the team much in it but it worked for this one time.
I didn't trust the fake FBI when he started to talk it was darker then normal but it was interesting.
I don't trust the new SacNav I think hes up to something I liked to know what happened to EJ I don't know if shes in hiding until they catch thoses bad guys or she died.
I want to go more of the team next week tho, Rachel was trying to help but it took Gibbs to help him.
I want them to catch those guys. am happy Tony is ok.
I like the Gibbs Rules Tony talked about Gibbs trained Tony well.
Can't wait for next week that one looks good. WHY WHY isn't Brian in the opening credits yet tho

I absolutely loved this episode. As for some people believing the team wouldn't have been concerned about Tony's "mission", after watching his car explode when Director Shepherd had him on a secret "mission", I can understand why.
As for using Kate's sister - made sense. Secrecy was necessary to Gibbs, and Tony seemed comfortable enough with her.
And Franks having the low-down, or at least a file, on the "8" - not surprised. He was suspicious of anyone with too much authority.

the show was good....i didn't trust that fake FBI agent from the start....as for the shrink: every time they got a shot of her, i kept seeing KATE for some reason....i know that sounds silly, but it's true.....i also DON'T trust the new SecNav. very much either....and neither does tony & gibbs....it seems to me, he doesn't care about his agents...and i'm still NOT 100% sure about vance, when it comes to his agents......as long as tony is SFA, he & ziva will NEVER be equal....which is GOOD......i also still don't fully trust EJ Barette.
MW & MH did a GREAT job.....onto NEXT week.
