90210 Review: Beverly Hills Got Talent

by at . Comments

Just when you thought that everyone in Beverly Hills was finally headed in the right direction, life threw them a curveball this week. But you still had to give them the "Benefit of the Doubt," didn't you? Even though some of what they went through bordered on ridiculous.

For starters, I think Raj finally realized that Ivy intended to stick around for the long haul. I'm not quite sure he had grasped that concept yet until she said she'd do anything to raise money for his drug treatment. The look he gave her was one of amazement. Well, duh Raj, she did marry you after all. In sickness and health and all that.

In the blink of an eye a massive talent show was whipped up... and with Dixon headlining no less! When that little nugget was brought up by Silver, I just about puked in my mouth. Really?!?

Kellie Pickler Arrives on 90210

Thank God Adrianna saved the day. And found herself in the process. The girl certainly has a set of pipes on her and it was good to hear her use them again. I was getting tired of her playing the sad little barmaid, offering unsolicited advice.

I liked the way she confronted Dixon about his drug problem. It takes a junkie to know a junkie and she didn't fall for his line of horse crap. But, honestly, how much junk did Dixon do that caused his nose to already have been gushing blood?

Naomi couldn't stand the fact that Austin was trying to outshine her in the talent show by bringing his cousin Sally to sing. Kellie Pickler did a great job but she laid that Southern accent on a bit too thick. Easy, girl.

In the end, Naomi won the contest but lost Max in the process. That pissed me off because I liked Max and don't really care for Austin. To see those two being set up as a future couple is going to be torturous. Was it sick of me that I enjoyed seeing Naomi looking slightly crazed like an old '20s Baby Jane with streaked mascara running down her face when Max walked off? And that the best part of the magic act was the tiny pony?

Annie, all of sudden, became the hot commodity in town. Again, the vomit was almost induced when that Patrick guy claimed to have fallen for her. Honest and like no else he'd ever met? What? First of all, he looked to be about Annie's dad's age and the references to leather proved it. Secondly, the chemistry between them was so not there that it was hysterical to hear the dude claiming to have the hots for her.

Silver remained on her high horse about Navid's unwanted nefarious dealings with his Uncle Amal. And Leila's nonchalant bitchiness was what finally caused him to kick Amal to the curb and in the process go undercover for the cops. All of a sudden he was in a Law & Order episode. Good luck with that.

Even more ludicrous was bug-eyed Brandy Norwood (aka Marissa Harris-Young) giving Silver love advice. Excuse me, but wasn't she a Congresswoman running an election? All of a sudden she was involved in a volunteer's life? Like I said earlier... ridiculous. Maybe her brother could give advice, though, at least making love advice with a camera and an attention-starved future reality star.

Liam realized how much of a himbo he is not. Not comfortable with modeling, he sure got comfortable quickly when he saw that check. So what if he's pimping himself out like Annie? As Adrianna said, if you need the money, give the people what they want. And apparently that's a billboard of Liam's awesome abs in the middle of Hollywood. Worked for me.

90210 takes next week off, but I can't wait to see how things get even sillier next time around. Watch the official preview HERE.

@ Kookakicha: don't bother waiting for Max. He'll never return.

I haven't watched the episode but the review gave me what I needed to know. No Max means no deal to me so I'm going to read all the reviews and wait for the time where he'll come back. Then I'll watch again. It's ridiculous because they went through so much pain putting them together and she was in love with him but they fling it away for some hot hook up.

@neezd: Naomi really do looked old because she had to look like a woman from the 1920's. I had the same thought too but anything she wears, clothes and all, she can really pull it off with no sweat. Even those sweatpants she wore on Season 2 made her look hot. ay ay ayeee! :D

In Dixon's case, his body reacted very negatively to the drugs he took. If he continued on without a first hand diagnosis (aint ADHD pills supposed to be prescribed by doctors?), he could possibly have complications. In a way I could related although not really drug-related. I had an addiction over caffeine back in my frosh year. One time during a team building escapade at a resort with my college org, I had one too many cups of coffee and not only did it bring me to a whole new level of a coffee high, I also suffered a long period of negative mood swings that lasted a few weeks. Dixon should prolly need some good rest, and lots of water to keep a clear head all of the time and be continually inspired. My college peeps had it worse. They either pick one or all of the following: 1)drinking coffee, 2)drinking energy drinks, 3)drinking sports drinks, 4)smoking, and the most extreme but could really lead you to explusion, 5)drug abuse (whether or not it's legal or not as long as it's becoming a major concern when you are caught using within or around the premises or being under the influence at all) But despite it all, Dixon is still a jerk for passing on the opportunity to even pursue a college education. Not a lot of people his age get that chance so he was lucky that had that kind of privilege (even though education is above all a right, not a privilege). By earning a degree in Music Education (or anything related) with a hot toasty diploma at hand, he can purusue his dreams with nothing to stop him. He could have the tools, the knowledge and wisdom that would have prepared him for the real world. Real-world experience right after high school can be cool and all but nothing beats flourishing your talent in an avenue for him to grow and mature. I see bad times ahead for Dixon so he better watch out.

Why is Naomi and Ausin happening? WHY!!!! I actually thought this episode was better then last weeks but, like the review said, INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS i mean my suspension of belief can only go so far, and none of what happened in this episode was even remotely believable!

And one more thing, Naomi looks old in this episode. Too much make-up?

Everyone I know in college took Adderall or ADHD medication to keep up with schoolwork. But no one I know got addicted and it certainly didn't affect their personality (they didn't become jerks like Dixon). I'm not saying it's not possible, just a little ridiculous for this show. I like Austin. He's cute and funny so I hope he sticks around.

They brought Max back just to make him look like a 'fool'? i feel sorry for Max.. and what the heck happened to Annie? she seems out of character. And Liam's modelling scene was so gay.

I'm glad this episode kinda drifted off from Naomi. I like her a lot, but I think it's time to share the spotlight with other character too. Nevertheless, she still manages to amaze me with her techniques as Naomi. I still like her chemistry with Max and Austin and I need her to pick someone fast before I do it for her! Side note: How does she always manage to look so good in everything?
As for Navid and Silver, I'm glad that he and Silver were not acting (much) like a couple this episode. It should be a full time thing. Anyway, Silver's storyline with Brandy is excellent. It's fresh and exciting. Navid should kick Lelia out! If she's "18 and can do whatever she wants", that means she can move out and do whatever she wants on the street! This bitch needs to be sent over to live with her parents or put in Amal's house! Speaking of Amal, wow, threatening Silver? Hopefully her potential death will actually split Navid and her up.
I can't believe how caring Adrianna has become for Dixon! Mainly because I've never seen a scene with them until this season, but it's really good to see a caring side from Adrianna, as she's been a selfish character these past 3 seasons. Although, I still like her singing! It was sad to see the way Dixon treated her, but he was right. However, it's the drugs talking, so I know that it'll eventually resolve itself. Speaking of the drugs, nice catch there Adrianna!
Liam trying to be a model was hysterical! I've never seen someone try to try so hard and manage to fail. I really feel bad for him. I'm glad that he got a bigger cheque. The guys a great character and he always manages to fall short on everything. I'm confused to why he managed to get $200.00 and then $10,000 the next day. Wish I could be a model.
Poor little Annie! She hasn't managed to catch a break at all this season! I really feel sorry for her. I like the chemistry between her and that guy. It's random, but it's not very Annie like, so I like it. She's reminding me of Brenda Walsh. But did Patrick really just pay for her services or did he pity her story?
Finally! Ivy and Raj's storyline is getting investment! I know he'll eventually die, possibly during mid-season, but it's great to see a side to Ivy that's never be seen - emotion!
