NCIS > NCIS Review: A Daughter is a Precious Thing > Comments Page 2
Ziva wasn't put on the show to ruin Tony. Janet your right about McGee spying on Tony well Tony does the same to McGee.
Smack your buddy across the head. Just see how he or she reacts.
there you go again michael nobody hates ziva or mgee yes mgee was spying on tony just as tony has done many many times before thats what friends do and yes michael friends give each other head slaps or love taps in ziva;s case lets just all agree it was a great episode and it just wouldnt be team gibbs if any one left.
Abby was not put on the show to ruined Tony character and then replace him as gibbs senior agent like Ziva was that one of the reason why so many of them didn't want to resign their contact because it was becoming the Ziva show instead of NCIS.
Infact Michael was ask on Facebook about him be written off the show to make Ziva look perfect and he said it made him feel really depress
it was just one head slap Ziva was giving Tony a wake up call. but it was ok when Abby head slapped him in season 5 when she was telling everyone she got a better Job offer. whats the difference between Abby doing it then Ziva. and Kate was mean to Tony too he elbow him all the time. everyone has the own opinion and thats good thats because if we all agreed life would be boring. however I do agree that Tony should be the hero once and whale tho but I love the whole cast and the show wouldn't work with any of them. I count Kate too I like her a little bit I just like Ziva more. NCIS needs to keep up the good work this episode is the best of the season so far.
This is one of the most powerful episodes in a while. Mark Harmon (and his son) were both in exceptional form. You could feel Gibbs' emotion toward the father and for the circumstances surrounding Ms Flores' disappearance.
As far as all the "nitpicking"-what does that really matter? Loved that Gibbs was reliving waking up with Shannon. It would be great if-when the show is on its last season-the writers would give him another "Shannon"...someone he could be with the rest of his life. Just hope that last season is a loooong way away.
This is undoubtedly one of the best dramas on TV today
OMG...36 comments and all most of you got out of this excellent show was a stupid headslap! It was funny, it was appropriate for the situation, and it was probably spontaneous! Get over it! The show was excellent and the team acted well together (even McGee who was great being McGee) solving this solemn tragedy, with a little levity that was needed as stress relief after working long hours, since they didn't get their energy-boost from cowpows! Abby was super wired-up, and Ducky & Jim, outstanding, as always. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is as a Navy spouse, and someone who has worked with the Navy and Air Force over the past 32 years (including a CACO team that goes to Dover AFB whenever needed to process those fallen incoming heroes), I was surprised that Ducky & Jim processed the bodies and not Dover, whose job it is to do it upon entering the U.S., but it was a minor TV moment, since the story was really about the missing 1Lt Flores and her father, the chaplain
You all who are so intolerant of those of us who found Ziva's headslap offensive need to learn that not everyone is going to see things your way, and that this is okay. As a fan who has been extremely disappointed at the last few years degradation, dismantling, and diminishment of Tony's character, I am beyond sick of these "funny" moments, in which Tony is yet again, made to look bad. This time he is a slacker and not as loyal as Ziva, to Gibb's. And yes once again we have superior Mary Sue stepping in to correct him, with Gibbs approval. I'm extremely disappointed that yet again, tptb are taking away traits that were cool about Tony's character, and giving them to Ziva.
It was an excellent program, provocative and human. Gibbs comforting the father who thought he had lost a daughter was heartwrenching considering Gibbs' history. I wasn't ready for it to end. Looking forward to next week.
Oh. My. Word. Is life REALLY so...dull? Tedious?... that we are actually getting fired up and cussing over a HEAD SLAP??? If Tony were normally a dignified figure, or if he was being serious at the time, it wouldn't have been funny (though I still wouldn't have been offended enough to use profanity! It's not that big a deal, in the broad picture of life! Really!), and if it wouldn't have been funny, they probably wouldn't have done it. It was funny! Granted, Tony outranks Ziva in the story line -and we remember, it IS a STORY!- and he's been offered his own team, and successfully taken over for Gibbs when Gibbs was away, but he wasn't ACTING like anyone's superior anything at the time; he was being kind of whiny, and she snapped him out of it!
Someone mentioned an unlikely promotion she received at Mossad. A) Her father is the director; may not be fair, but it's a plausible reason. B) Has she ever acted incompetently in her position?? Could be she just deserved it.
But ultimately, al
Aren't they suppose to do something with Lauren Holly characte these season I wonder if that redhead is her sister that would be cool Also was I the only one who that Abby was great last night she really crack me up.
Mcgee was his selfish immature self again not listen to gibbs and bitching when ever gibbs gave him a order you think he would know better by now and him and Ziva invading Tony personal life by spying on his computer and people wonder why we hate Mcgee and Ziva.
They are hippocrates Mcgee and Ziva are
the headlap is Gibbs Thing
by Ziva doing it to tony it make it seem like their getting rid of gibbs and replacing him with Ziva who the gibbs in season 1 would of NEVER allowed to be brought back to the team.
And for all you Kate haters just reminder if it was not for Kate NCIS would of been cancel after season 2 so
my god whats wrong with you people it was a loving head slap ziva gave tony she knows tony is the SFA and ziva knows this.also wish some of you would realise ziva is far better than kate ever was, finally my dear friend michael i listen to other people;s view but when they talk nonsense i cant be quiet.
I noticed the several redheads in this episode, wondering what gives. I too expected Lauren Holly to show up! As for the headslap, Tony deserved it and Gibbs let him know. Interesting interpersonal development. I liked the episode and have to agree that they just keep getting better. In the previews it shows them on a transport with a flag draped container. I hope it isn't Ms. Flores - I'd like to see her reunited with her dad.
Note all the redheads in tonight's episode... not just Shannon redux, but the Chaplain, one of the women who taught at the school in Afghanistan. At one point, I was expecting to see Lauren Holly walk in.
I loved the opening flashback with Shannon basically telling Gibbs to get on with his life. I hope that helps move him along.
I am also wondering if this is an episode unrelated to the plotline involving SecNav or if it somehow all fits together...
"In my opinion the Gibb's head slap by Ziva to Tony only points out the fact that she is now equal with him and it says to me that she is slowly taking the place of Gibbs in Tony's working world. Don't read so much into it M..."
What the hell?
Tony is the SFA. He is the veteran agent. When Gibbs is absent, it is he who is the team lead. Ziva is only some random rookie agent with minimal law enforcement experience and even less of that spent as time as fully fledged Special Agent of the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It would be Tony who should be taking Gibbs' place in Ziva's professional life.
"And to the nutter who misses ej "
Well, in a perfect world we would have Kate back, or Paula Cassidy, or Lara Macy. But this isn't a perfect world. I would take EJ as the leader of a B team over Ziva on this show in a heartbeat. At the very least EJ is not some improbably young, impossibly smug SPESCHUL Mary Sue who bends reality around her
To all the "head slap" haters who are continuing to make this an issue...
IT'S A TV SHOW!!!!!!
Get over yourselves! If you don't wan to be offended about anything or anyone, go watch the Cartoon Network or SHUT UP!
Great episode...can't wait until next week.
Yep,...just another NCIS classic!
I have to admit though that TVFanatic's preview photo having Ziva's pic with the episode title "Engaged" totally deceived me into thinking that the story plot would center around her getting engaged---whoa, what a 'curve' that was for me as I anticipated the development of a 'serious romance' subplot for Ziva!!?....yep,...fooled again!
Hi Janet and Tiva -
Was this Episode not one of the best of the Season? I think so.
They are getting better and better every week. A very touching storyline.
Well done - Probie female writer....
You are so right about 'him' Janet and 'her' as well.
In my opinion the Gibb's head slap by Ziva to Tony only points out the fact that she is now equal with him and it says to me that she is slowly taking the place of Gibbs in Tony's working world. Don't read so much into it M...
And to the nutter who misses ej - oh, that's right, you are the one who is dissing Ziva naturally, YOU seem to be alone in that - well, except for 'him' and 'her' which I am sure we will now hear from.
The FULL Tony Bucket List is now out and 'him' and 'her' are not gonna like it Janet, but most of us will. Last one on the list says "Tell Her" ! ummm??? Wonder just who they mean by that eh ?
Correction. We know he's at least a ten-plus year veteran of NCIS and a Senior Field Agent to boot, which is only one grade below Gibbs' or EJ's (where is she, anyways? I miss her) Senior Supervisory Agent grade. Before which he was a multi-year veteran of the Baltimore PD, and a homicide detective no less, which means that he likely worked up the ranks from scratch to get there. Ziva has been an NCIS agent for, what, less than two years? And she's been a probie for most of that. Before which she was a... two year veteran of the Mossad, during which she somehow gets admitted into an elite assassination squad over the heads of likely dozens, if not hundreds, of candidates more experienced and with more seniority than her. What makes Ziva so speschul she gets to ignore the rules?
It's not her place, though. Tony is her senior agent by at least twenty years. Ziva is pretty much still a probie. In what universe is it actually acceptable to physically assault your superior?
I don't think the headslap by Ziva (which was a very small part of the episode) was totally out of line. Gibbs was working hard and looked troubled and was undoubtedly going to work all night. Ziva and McGee were both worried about him as Ziva offered to stay there and McGee offered a ride home while Tony just wanted to go home and watch a movie.
I did like Tony questioning his own mortality and loved his bucket list. I also liked Chaplain Burke. She was not intimidated by Gibbs in any way, which was refreshing.
First I hate no one
second Maka hit it on the head
Third Janet if you can't take other people view please say nothing at all
As somebody who most definitely is not Michael, here's the thing: Girls hitting guys is just about as funny as guys hitting girls. That is to say, it's not very. Especially when said girl happens to have had this little incident where she assaulted the guy with a deadly weapon. This ain't slapstick comedy.
NCIS writers don't seem to understand this. They don't seem to understand that physical assault by a woman directed to a man is just as serious as the other way around. Especially when there has been a past of abuse and assault that involved the man coming a few pounds of pressure within dying alone on foreign soil. Sure, Gibbs might be treating Ziva with kid gloves (like any Mary Sue, who can easily escape the consequences of her actions), but he's also pretty sexist and chauvinistic, and he knows it. That's not exactly a good thing either.
