90210 Review: Silent Night

at . Comments

Santa couldn't tell who was naughty or who was nice in Beverly Hills this week, but "O Holly Night" proved that sometimes being a little bit of both is what you need to get through the holiday season.

Naomi and Holly seemed to have set aside their differences and became BFFs all of a sudden. That is, until Mama Rachel started giving Naomi the business about being a good little intern and earning the right to be a big successful party planner. Did Holly's mom really think she could push her own daughter aside and that Holly would just take it?

For a moment there I thought Naomi would have relished sticking it to Holly but it seemed that Naomi was really conflicted about Holly's mom's betrayal. Until Naomi busted Holly grinding up on Austin, of course. Here comes the Holly/Naomi hatefest once again. I love the fact that truces in Beverly Hills last all of two minutes.

Silver was enjoying her new romance with the professor and the change of pace of dating a more mature man. Pump the brakes, though, why did mature have to mean a separated, single father? Poor Silver... she couldn't seem to catch a break. First Navid with his nefarious Uncle Amal and now the professor with his daddy issues. Can we just go back to high school? Being grown-up sucks.

Annie went from ho-ho-ho-ing herself out to breaking and entering and burglary. Not bad for the recent high school grad. Fed up with Jeremy's shenanigans, she managed to steal back Marla's necklace and gather the proof she needed to finally get him off her back. I wouldn't have necessarily done it the way she did (telling the bad guy you've taped his entire nasty conversation while still in his house is never a good move), but things always work out for Annie so she was able to just skate on by into the wild blue yonder aka Paris.

And how weird was that hook-up between Liam and Annie? Forced and trite, I just didn't buy that Annie all of a sudden was madly in love again with Liam. Liam did look quite dashing with his slicked back hair and I loved the way he confronted Patrick, but the Annie/Liam story's been dead and buried. Why try to revive it again?

Will Liam be revived? A "hit and run" on Christmas Eve? Poor Ab-man. Another one who couldn't catch a break. That's what you get when you try to save a hooker with a heart of gold.

Speaking of breaks, Navid was lucky those goons didn't break his skull. Is it really smart to be playing "21 Jump Street" at this point? Silver's moved on so maybe Navid better catch on and return Cat's affections. At least she knows how to recover from beatdowns, being a cop and all.

Adrianna and Dixon seemed to be the only ones who were feeling the holiday spirit. Dixon made me laugh with his Bruno Mars-style ditty and Adrianna floored me with her pipes, not to mention her looks. I dug those two together. And thankfully she stopped the "I gave up my daughter" chatter for the time being. I didn't think I could stand any more toddler talk.

Naughty or nice... 2012 here they come!

I totally agree with @dexter idolizer, when adrianna talked about her daughter and then silver's boyfriend saying that he had a daughter, my first thought was "no way, his daughter could be ade's" and then I run to watch the last part of season 1 finale where ade gives her baby away and the actor is different than the one playing silver's new boyfriend, so if they go with this storyline, it will be odd because the guy is not the same actor. It would have been a great twist in my opinion, and a perfect way to reunite ade and silver together!

this is the saddest episode ever!!! the only good thing about it is that there seems to be a spark of hope for liam and annie...but only to be taken away at the end!!! writers, fix this please!!!

@Dexter! THANKS for this amazing spoiler! Didn't saw that connection coming at all.
@Sabine Thanks for this spoiler! At the moment she lied about the accident and the look in her eyes were showing she isn't an Annie copy! So really glad they are introducing this type of character and hope Kebbel stays around, cause she is amazing!

SPOILER: about that girl who hit liam: Kebbel will play Vanessa, a charismatic, edgy and vivacious former bad girl who enjoys a little risk-taking now and again. She'll also become romantically involved with one of the show's leading men.
Not good for lannie :(

*SPOILER Side Note: I read that Adrianna petitions for the rights of her child, after hearing that the parents were divorcing. There have also been pictures of Adrianna and Silver with a toddler, who was apparently Adrianna's daughter. So what are the chances that Silver's latest boyfriend is the ADOPTIVE father of Adrianna's baby? Yes, slim chance as Silver's boyfriends in his mid-late 20's, but this is 90210 - ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

I found this to be an excellent, well-written mid-season finale.
Followed by the blooming romance between Adrianna and Dixon, along with the rekindled love between Liam and Annie, from the awesomeness of Naomi doing what she does best to Navid getting beaten up and put in hospital, was truly the most excellent composed episode I've seen in a while.
Adrianna - I'm glad she's getting back into music, along with hopefully meeting her daughter. Hopefully she doesn't get it back, because I don't think it's fair on the adoptive parents.
Dixon - Loved his song to Adrianna, as well as their romance. I look forward to their future duets.
Annie - Well done girl! You're actually smarter than I realized. Glad you're getting your money and Liam back. You need some good luck in your life!
Liam - Ever since the on-and-off tense between him and Annie, I'm glad they're spark is back. I knew that the two would be back together by mid-season finale and I was right. I know he'll be alright. I just trust that new-comer who hit him, saw the billboard, then said it was a hit-and-run. Gold-digger much?
Naomi - Just as you had it all, it's gone again. I love her career, but she's just not lucky in love. Hopefully we'll see a career driven focus in her. Take a break from the guys.
Silver - Glad she chose the other guy. Possibly because of what she saw between Navid and Kat, but it's still a step away from Navid. Hopefully it's permanent. I'd like to see her drift off the main characters, as she's kinda dwelling too much in the guy department amongst her male friends.
Navid - Glad he was put in hospital. Too bad he's not dead. Nuff' said.
Ivy - Where the hell were you this episode? For a character that was kept on, she doesn't seem to be in it often.

Clearly whoever writing the "reviews" hates Annie, right? Right? I think the only problem with this episode was Silver with her guy and Navid with the police woman. Worst storylines this season. At least Silver and her guy seems promising if his daughter really is... let's just say... an adopted daughter. Great episode, one of the best 90210 episode's ever. Gotta love the core couple, LANNIE. They're just awesome. I only hope he gets her message, but I think that Kebbel bitch's gonna get in the way. Also, loved Naomi, and finally enjoyed Dixon/Ade.

Just to get it out there: Annie said she sent a copy of the recorded message made by Jeremy to her lawyer so she has complete leverage of the situation. In addition: If Jeremy in any way attack Annie, especially that both of them are parties to an ongoing inheritance case, then odds are, he's going to risk not getting even a cent out of Marla's wealth.

If I were to rate each of 90210's four midseason finales:
1.S4 (Love Sneaky-clever but still perkylicious Annie and yes the ending is such a shocker)
2.S2 (Love every moment of "Winter Wonderland", too bad the fall-out from the ending scene relating to Annie's hit-and-run storyline ended in disaster)
3. S3 (Teddy's kiss and the Mr. Cannon reveal were the only highlights of that finale)
4. S1 (Sean's scene in the end was the only thing that kept me through the show's first winter hiatus)

i may be the only one, but i love annie and liam together, their relationship ended way to soon- i hope liam survives so that they can give love annother shot!
i wish ivy was in the season final! :(
dixon and adriana are not my fave but they seem to be a really cute couple
i am not ditching this show just yet!
hopefully 2012 has some fresher characters and storylines but keeps the good originals like naomi, annie, dixon, liam, ivy and silver!
