The Lying Game Review: A Tale of Two Annies

at . Comments

The Lying Game wasted no time jumping right into the action on "O Twin, Where Art Thou," as it kicked off at Sutton's birthday party, with a mysterious guest and a missing twin.

When we last saw Emma she had left the birthday party under the pretense that Sutton was lurking outside. When Kristen followed her, it was revealed that it was someone named Annie. So was it Annie Hobbs, the alleged birth mother? Oddly... no.

A Missing Sister

The writers of The Lying Game have decided to introduce a new Annie. Charisma Carpenter has signed on to play Char's aunt, Annie Sewell. Only now she goes by Rebecca. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this was very strange. Why two Annies?

Now every time an Annie is mentioned, we don't know which one is being referred to. If their intention was to confuse the viewers, they've definitely succeeded with me. Are we now to believe that maybe Annie Sewell was the birth mother? She does look a lot like Emma and Sutton, but perhaps it's just a red herring.

When Alec called Dr. Hughes, he mentioned that Annie was back in Phoenix, only it wasn't Annie Hobbs. So Dr. Hughes knows both Annies?!? So many questions! One thing that seemed very clear to me is that Rebecca wants to put Phyllis in rehab and get custody of Char. I can't say it seems like a bad idea, but who really knows her true intentions?

While Kristen is trying to seem welcoming, you know she is suspicious. After all, that man at the doctor's conference mentioned seeing Ted at some wild weekend in Santa Barbara with Annie. Yes, the mysteries have multiplied.

Meanwhile, Emma was pulling double duty between comforting Char and trying to find her twin. Thayer's attempt to turn her against Ethan almost worked, but Emma came to her senses and realized that they all had to work together.

Hands down the best part of this episode was when Emma received the package. I would be so freaked out at getting an anonymous package with a piece of a dress and a threatening note. However, Ethan and Thayer recognized the package wrapping as classic Sutton and her Lying games. Is it all a rouse or do you think Sutton is really gone?

Overall, this episode wasn't full of fireworks until the end. It wasn't disappointing, though, as we needed to be brought up to speed. With the addition of Carpenter, I think this could be a very interesting season, don't you?

So here what i think...I think Annie hobbs is a crazy person who thinks that Sutton and Emma are her daughters but really the new Annie is reaelly the mother, but Alec and The other sneaky guy did somthing to one of them to make them comfused and locked up Annie Hobbs so she couldnt tell...idk theye guys creep me out...

Oh my God, that thought did cross my mind, Sutton pretending to be Emma, but then what was that message and package for if it's actually Sutton? This is just so kewl and twisting. Disappointing premiere but I hope the rest of the season made up for it.

I think Emma is back in las Vegas. She was wearing a red dress at the bus station. When "Emma" arrived at the party she was wearing a black dress and her hair was wet. She claimed it was raining so I think that she is actually sutton pretending to be Emma. Another of her lying games. Remember when she asks to borrow ethans phone to call sutton? Where is her phone cause airtime phone was at the bottom of the lake with the car. I think Annie got her out and that's why her hair was wet and she had another dress on. After the party she's not acting like Emma. She's rude, annoyed and her voice is different.

I think the ultimaate revenge is for Sutton to be pretending to be missing while worrying and implicating Emma and Ethan in her disappearance. I wouldnt put anything past that girl. The two Annies was too much. The lack of answeres is frustrating rather than enticing

It feels so good to know I wasn't the only person confused by the introduction of the second Annie at first I was thinking they recast the Annie Hobbs role but the second Annie was Annie Sewell. Midway thru the ep I gave up trying to figure it out. I think Sutton is alive and has either been kidnapped by Alec or will begin to get torturing Emma Ethan and Thayer PLL's A style.

Anyone else think that it's actually Emma that is missing? And Sutton is acting like Emma? I totally think somehow they switched places again and something happened to Emma and it's Sutton who is now pretending to be Emma!

Loved this episode< was really freaky tho that Alexandra Cho and Charisma Carpenter look so much alike, maybe this Annie is her actually mother and the other Annie is a adoptive mother used to confuse Sutton/Emma when they start asking questions!!!!!!!!!!1

Loved the whole episode. Such a cool show, moves faster and crazier turns than PLL. Just love that Ethan and Emma. Parents are cool, and I know Alec and Ted have big secrets. Can't wait to see what happens next! is this show as good as I think it is? Better than "Revenge," and anything on CW... I may like this better than PLL.

I agree. I hope it doesn't get too confusing.

I loved this episode and I have so many questions like what's up with the second Annie and just wonder now what ever happened to the first Annie she left the mental hospital but we haven't seen her sense I'm also wonder where is sutton is she dead or did someone kidnap her or another thing I just started wondering is did she get out of the car and is she just getting back at Emma and Ethan.again great episode and I can't wait till the next one this looks like it will be a great season.

The Lying Game Season 1 Episode 11 Quotes

I think we all know that once Sutton gets something in her head, she doesn't give up.

Look I know how she thinks, after a fight like that, she'll regroup, she'll plan something, some kind of revenge.
