Do you remember Bonnie's recurring nightmare? Klaus is in the coffin with the necklace that belonged to the original witch, and then Bonnie is in the coffin.
This could suggest there is a witch in that coffin and the original witch to boot.
Moreover Klaus keeps calling the whole pack of coffins his family so does that mean that there is a family member in there rather than the original doppelganger?
doublemoreover, they just cast some blonde chick who looks like she could be the original witch right? casting is always a clue.
Finally some people keep referring to the narrated stories of momma bear being killed by Klaus, or Klaus' father being killed by Michael. These are stories and more often than not lies.
All things considered Im going with the OW, and i think its a bit dumb of Damon to say "but who's in that coffin?" the scriptwriters need to not underestimate us like this. I might tweet Ian Somerhalder with that point!

I Think it is "Mother Original, the original Wich".
I Think she was spell bound to stay in the coffin, and noone knows that but Klaus. Also she is the only one who can KILL Klaus.
meh this show is only good for eyecandy now better make sure i make use of it

Ok so I think that the 4th coffin contains the love of klaus's life C'om in the 1000yrs of his life he never fell deeply in love after all he said himself that love is a vampires greatest weakness and I do believe that love is his!!! And as much as I like Caroline that would just not wk for me to be truthful I was hoping he would also fall for Elena.... Gotta love my Vamps & their drama!

I think it's the Original Petrova doppleganger. Not that my speculation matters for anything, but I think that that would really revive the story line & thats an area the show has always left open. They have to explain that at some point... i think now would be a great time. If they wait until the Klaus situation dies down and THEN they revive it its kindof like a rollercoaster. I think it'd be smart of them to introduce another something interesting while they struggle with Klaus so that when he's gone we're already in the middle of something really interesting. Jussayin'

For Klaus's mother (aka the Original witch)to be the original doppelganger, that would have to mean she had a child which remained human. Perhaps what is in the coffin isn't a matter of WHO but a matter of WHAT? Maybe a Grimior from the original witch?
It wouldn't be klause's real father, because if you had forgotten, in an episode, I think it was Rebecca said that michel went on a rage, killed klause's real father and then his mother, but it was klause who killed his mom, but there could still be some truth to michel killing his real father, or klause did that to. Now,a lot of my answeres are taken, but here is my short list of answers: The original witch(klause's mother) even though shes "dead", Remember how bonnie cast a spell to fake her death?, Could be another original hybrid whom is dead set on the destruction of klause, An original we have not yet to hear about, but now one that I really can not believe no one said, Jonathon Gilbert(the one from when stefan and damen were human) could very well be the one in the coffin, maybe he was turned into a vampire, or maybe a witch has helped him survive all this time, the reason Klause would want it is because maybe Jonathan figured out how to kill a hybrid

if a witch sealed the coffin it's got to be something important that they don't want Klaus to get at. I'm liking the suggestions of original Petrova doppelganger, Klaus's mother, and his actual father.

ok so are you saying that the real father who was the original warewolve could be in the coffin!!! What would the original doppleganger have to do with Klaus...Klaus was a warewolfe first he became a hybrid after his father made him drink blood to become a vampire. So technically he was not cursed he was just handed a dual role in life. I think that this whole thing is all a joke .....just like when everyone thought that Elena had to die in order to continue the hybrid lineage and low and behold it was all a farce yes!!!!

Everyone seems to be forgetting something. Katherine told Elena that they were doppelgängers - the descendants - of the original witch who placed the spell on Klaus. Michael has told us that the original witch who placed the spell was his wife - Klaus' mother. He also said his wife was buried after Klaus killed her. Unless Klaus dug her up again, it's not likely his mom in the coffin...

This is the one of the best shows i know for years i try too follow it and i know right now of 15 people that have stopped all together watching it cause these fucking idiots cant put out more then 1 show a week for 3 weeks and then they stop, smarten up Ur disappointing millions of people. soon nobody will watch it cause it will be like 1 week on 3 weeks off lazy idiots

I assume it's a "living" character so not Esther or Ayanna. It's someone important to Klaus. I'm going with the woman whom Katherine and Elena are dopplegangers or more simply the original Dobrev.

Hopefully something/someone who could kill Klaus so he can stay away from Caroline. Caroline is to good for any of the guys on that show... Nuffff said.!! Except maybe Matt, she deserves someone who isn't wouldn't kill her just by a bite and someone who isn't he most dangerous person on that show!! Good old boring reliable Matt

The Original Witch who knows how to undo her original vampire spell. My guess is that the key to killing Klaus is turning him into a human again. That's why in Bonnie's dream, he was lying in the coffin, looking normal and not gray and desiccated, because he was human and dead. It was a spell that turned him into a vampire, and it's spell that can undo it.

Last season they said that after klaus's father michael discovered that his wife cheated on him. Micheal killed klaus's father. Which started the vampire & werewolf war.

The person in the coffin is alive(in a state of sleep like the others Origies!), and with the Original mother being on the other side with Vicky and the other things! So it probably isn't her!
The first doppelganger! Truly possible, and would love to see how Nina would do a 3 in 1 scene! XD
But I'm now convinced it's Klauses biological dad or something like that! We saw how much Klaus needs his family! And his father is the last thing he misses!
Damon: She's strong and crafty and you'll die. Elena: At least I'll die trying.
