I voted for The Voice. I honestly just don't always enjoy the extra drivel from the American Idol hopefuls, the unending tryouts and the Hollywood weeks from AI. Perhaps even more so, I dislike that AI captures WAY too many prime time hours of TV for me.
The Voice is competitive on several levels, allows us to see at least some hard work put in by the contestants AND the judges, and keeps us entertained by the fast pace of it all. Plus, NBC is not trying (I hope) to make the show last until the end of the spring TV season (like I am sure AI will).
I can tune into the highlights from AI on YouTube the next day and I do enjoy some of the judges antics, but for all around live entertainment, The Voice has my number!

I'm new to the game. I've never really been interested in American Idol, and I hate watching all those bad singers embarrass themselves. But after watching The Voice after the Super Bowl, I really like the set up of the blind auditions, and I find myself oddly invested in who the singers choose to be their coach. It also helps that Blake Shelton is hilarious and Adam Levine is oh-so-easy on the eyes.

I pick The Voice, but come back to me when the awful Battle Rounds begin.

There is no question of a choice. The Voice is fun, fresh and much more entertaining than Idols. Yes they awful singers are funny to watch, but the voice focuses on talented singers who are chosen and their skills are honed by consummate, contemporary and amazing singers from different genres. Its awesome. American Idols has been on for too long and its gotten old.
