Matt Davis Cast as Lead in CW "Cult" Pilot
The CW and Warner Bros. didn't have to look far to find the male lead for their buzzed-about new pilot Cult. The Vampire Diaries' Matt Davis has signed on to star alongside Jessica Lucas in the new show.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie) are co-producing the show, which centers on Skye (Lucas), an inquisitive young production assistant on a wildly popular TV show called Cult.
After a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, she joins Jeff (Davis), a journalist whose brother is among those missing, in investigating the rabid Cult who might be re-creating crimes in real life.
If the pilot is picked up, which seems like a decent bet given the pedigree of the producers (and Davis' awesomeness), he will still be available to make guest appearances in future seasons of The Vampire Diaries.
Davis has played an integral role in the hit series as high school history teacher / vampire hunter / Elena guardian / Damon BFF Alaric Saltzman since midway through the show's first season.

Finally after 6 years we get Cult...and so far, so good. I like that it seems to genuinely be darker in tone than other shows on the CW, even some of their previous shows that were supposed to be a bit darker and edgier. Also, the two leads seem to have a great natural chemistry based off the pilot. I loved Matt Davis in The Vampire Diaries, and think he was a great choice for Jeff.
One other thing I loved too was how they were able to use some good haunting music to set the mood in the pilot. A great example was when they used Junip's "White Rain" in the cafe when we see Nate for the first time - it totally has a cool haunting vibe without being overboard spooky or goth music.

Personally I think Matt would be the perfect choice a
as Christian Grey in the movie "Fifty Shades
of Gray". He's gorgeous and sexy but can also
be cold and calculating without giving up any
of those great looks. Awesome!

I have this really awful feeling that, to give poetic justice to the human half of everyone's favorite bromance, Alaric will end up killing himself to save everyone because he'll realize he can't regain control of the darkness within him. It would be tragic, but fitting for such a beautiful character. That being said, I REALLY hope that doesn't happen. REALLY. Jeremy and Elena can't lose another (pseudo, at least) family member, and Damon can't lose his only real friend. It would be too devastating across the board.

Seems like a congratulating time for Matt Davis to star in a new show but I wonder how he'll be in the next episode when his mind is out of control. I can't wait to see what happens for this week's episode. =| =O

That's not good at all! I like señor Ric very much in TVD, and the very fact he's leaving as a series regular means that Damon needs to find another buddy. Poor him.
I'm guessing that they will exit his character as the murderer by another melodramatic death scene.. we're used to that.. so it wouldn't be a big deal.

I can't wait for Cult, I heard about the pilot awhile ago and it sounds really good (much better then that Sex and the City one anyway) and now Alaric is going to be in it? It just gets me that much more excited ;)
Matt said earlier on Twitter that The CW was okay with him having two roles on two different TV shows, even if it means he'll be spending less time on TVD. Thank god for that, the Damon/Alaric bromance is my favourite ship on the whole show. I just love those guys together :)

if they will make is exit as a mystic falls killer, then i will be so so so so so so mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... this awesome guy needs a decent exit. damn i will miss him
my thoughts exactly. The killer plot and the next few episodes from the spoilers already smell VERY BAD.
I doubt they could execute a good quality emotional death for him (since they failed with Jenna despite spending entire episode on that), not to mention that his death (just like everyone else's) will be forgotten the next episode as elena goes to watch yet another movie.
Its depressing that one character who is not criticized as much is going to leave. That leaves only Caroline to care about :)

Wrong~. Things like american idol, ncis, mentalist, revenge, etc beat it by a couple of millions of viewers in USA and things like Doctor Who, sherlock, etc, outrank tvd to the point that it does not even appear in the top shows :)
Its good viewercount FOR CW. But with the ratings it has been getting, if it was on any other channel it would have been dead :)

o No the annoying thing is that you comment on a show that you don't even like!the annoying thing is that you are the only one in here that hates the show and yet comments in its articles in daily bases!
Yet again not even a single fact.
For one, Criticism is healthy. I can argument why I do not like and what I do not like. For second, I am not the only one. I might be only one to not sugarcoat it but majority of forum feels that way about this show. :)
I Know armies of people that watch the show for the originals or the salvatores or the love triangle etc. ...is just like every show out there noone likes every storyline in it but watch for specific parts
armies watch twilight too. Does not change its "quality". Love triangle and the main trio are the weakest link of the show. :)
