Grey's Anatomy Review: The Pressure Is On

by at . Comments

One in five. Things are not looking too good for our residents right now.

"Moment of Truth” had the gang travel to San Francisco for their oral boards and, boy, did they bring along some baggage. Let's discuss.

Exam Time. Meredith, Jackson, Alex, Cristina and April. That’s five. That means one of these residents is most likely not passing their boards. Is it Alex, who didn’t make it to his exam in time? Meredith, who was fighting a stomach flu? Cristina, the robot, dealing with her failing marriage? April, dealing with her lost virginity? Or Jackson, who’s lucky pencil broke right before the exam?

Jackson Suits Up

First Time Hookups. Another city, another state of mind. April decided to do the deed with the ridiculously hot Jackson Avery. First of all, it’s about time. There has been some chemistry between these two for a while. Second, how could you let Jackson get out of your bed? April’s mistake was letting Avery leave after their little escapade. Nothing would relax me more than waking up to those beautiful eyes.

Jackson wasn’t the only Avery having some fun in San Fran. Catherine Avery showed up just in time to make Richard smile for the first time in too long. These two make a great pairing. Masters of medicine. Of course, theirs is the baggage that Richard’s wife is battling a disease and sleeping with another man. What to do?

Last Breath. Alex showed once again why he belongs in peds. He left San Fran to be by Morgan and Arizona’s side as they fought for Morgan’s baby’s life. Arizona said it best. She needs Alex to be her peds fellow, and so do we. I can’t imagine Seattle Grace without Alex “The Underdog” Karev.

Could a Morgan/Alex romance be brewing? We talked about this before but it seems to keep creeping back up. Alex deserves a real relationship with a woman who is not crazy. Could Morgan be the one? I wouldn’t hate it.

Get On the Bus

Kudos to Amanda Fuller for her heartfelt scene of losing her child. Extremely sad and emotional. Perfectly portrayed.

Friends? With Jackson out of the hospital, Mark spent his time chatting with Lexie. His “I need you” had me so excited, until I realized it was just for a case. Although it has been a long time since these two have been a couple, I still find myself rooting for them. What do you think? Do Sloan and Lexie belong together?

The scene between Lexie and big bro-in-law Derek was touching. Derek knows that Mark still cares about Lexie and vice versa. Time to play matchmaker, McDreamy!

After a verbal beat down from one Ms. Miranda Bailey, Teddy reached out to Owen in that sense of letting him know Cristina is ready for her test. To be honest, these two haven’t shared many scenes lately and I almost forgot they were fighting. Hopefully, they work it out. Owen is going to need a friend if Yang decides to head East for a new job.

BFFs. Once again, Meredith and Cristina proved who the heart and soul of this series is. The friends shared some quality time on the sides of Mer’s door. It was about time that Cristina admitted about Owen’s affair. Watching these two is more enjoyable than half the cases.

After Thoughts:

  • How cute was Zola in her bumble bee costume?
  • Who else thinks Jackson should wear a suit every day? Or nothing at all?
  • How hilarious was Jackson showing up at his mom’s room to find Webber? Not awkward at all.
Overall, a solid episode once again. There are only three episodes left of Season 8. Maybe only three episodes left with the original cast. So tell us what you think, TV Fanatics. Who will be the one, if any, to fail their boards? Is Alex going to be able to take his? Was the Jackson/April hookup hot or not?

Don’t forget to check back for the Grey’s Anatomy Round Table later in the week after you hit the comments and sound off. Until next time, Grey’s fans.

EVER SAY THAT SHE'S A RELIGIOUS PERSON?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That's something I really hate: the need to put drama into a developing relationship (Avery and April). I just HATE it!-.-

So excited for next weak and so excited about Lexie and Mark. I really want them to get back together. But I don't know what Mark has been thinking when he told Lexie, that she should get back together with Jackson, if she still likes him. Was it some kind of test? He seemed like he was too scared of talking to Lexie at all, while Avery was in the hospital and like he has waited for the opportunity to talk to her for a very long time now. That was kind of sweet. I hope he still loves her, too. I'm not sure anymore, because he has been talking to her, in a way that got me thinking, that he could as well be over her, finally. And what about the question, Julia will pop in the next episode? If he has to make a decision between Lexie and Julia, whom is he gonna pick? SO EXCITED!!! Don't know, if Meredith is pregnant. But I hope she won't lose Zola because she has a more severe decease than just a stomach flu.APRIL KEPT HER VIRGINITY BECAUSE SHE LOVES JESUS SO MUCH???? COME ON!! WHEN DID SHE EVER SAY THAT SHE'S A RELIGIOUS PERSON?!?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That's something I really hate: the need to put drama into a developing relationship (Avery and April). Wow! Kind of a heartbreaking episode! I loved, that Richard and Catherine finally got it on. They looked so happy, when she asked him, if he thinks, that Jackson is in shock, about finding Richard in her room. I want Richard to be happy. In my opinion he's not cheating, because the woman he loved, is gone. She is with Alan and she is happy. What would you do? Would you sit beside Adeles bed, watching her getting it on with another man? I don't think I would. He deserves to be happy, too. He was nervous when they sat in the restaurant, because he knew what was gonna happen and it must have been very hard for him, because sleeping with another woman makes the fact, that his marriage is over, real. I love these two together! I also loved the Meredith Cristina moments in this episode. These two are soulmates and the talking leaning at the door and the taking care of each other just showed that once again. I was impressed by Alex tonight, I have to say. He really loved Tommy, but I don't think he loves Morgan. It was so human of him to go back to Seattle. Just let him finally be happy! When I read about the Avery-April thing, I didn't like it. But there was definitely chemistry between them tonight and they are kind of cute together! I think I want them to get together. But it was wrong to leave her in bed all alone! I think April,Mer or Cristina didn't pass the boards.

Meredith and Cristina are the heart of the show. Their scenes were great. So were Richard's with Catherine. April/Avery and Mark/Lexie are boring. The writers should just dump April/Lexie and hook up Mark/Avery, LOL. Yes, please, to Alex getting a sane girl, and a decent story. I love him, and love how caring he is when things get really difficult. More than any other character, he's the one I most want to see have some success and happiness. Hate that the writers are screwing him over yet again.

I actually loved everything about this episode with my top three scenes being Mer/Cris, Chief/Mrs Avery and Derek/Lexie scenes. The only concern I have is Alex ending up with Morgan, I would rather have Izzie back (I can't believe I just wrote that), the ideal scenario in my opinion will be to put April and Alex together. Anyway, since someone is definitely dying in the finale I would rather it's Owen or Callie, Christina can focus on surgery or end up with Jackson while adorable Arizona gets a new love interest... yeah, I am amongst the few who don't like Callie.

Nice ep of grey's last night! Anyway, I seriously think it is the ex chief who will get killed off on the season finale. They said that the final table read was a sob fest, the death of a poor old man would make even the men cry right? (Coz P. Demsey tweeted about it, just can't remember if he said something about him crying too) And the chief got laid on the last episode right. (1st time in Grey's history we saw him get laid)I think Grey's has a habit of getting everyone laid before he/she dies. Henry's the perfect example, before he died Teddy and him did it in the on call room.

I really enjoyed this episode! for the first time in a while, it stirred some feelings in me. Like most other people I find the Jesus thing very unbelievable. There would have been signs of that before. I hope we'll find out she was indoctrinated by her parents but doesn't really believe or something similar to that- it would make it slightly more credible. As to who fails the boards, I think it may be Mer. She is the only one who doesn't actually want to leave Seattle, and repeating a year (or whatever happens if you fail the boards) could give her some time to figure out that she actually wants to be a neurosurgeon.

The scenes with Mer/Cristina by the door was priceless. They are the heart of the show and it was brought the forefront beautifully. Mer will stand by Cristina when she chooses to stay with Owen, which she will because she absolutely loves him and Mer loves Cristina. They're each others "person". Yes, Cristina is a hardcore surgeon first, but it doesn't mean she hasn't learned to love deeply. That won't make her less of a surgeon and for everyone that says they're toxic, well these crises will certainly take care of some of that. They are finally seeing each other without blinders. What may send them over the edge is if that blonde "hook up" ends up pregnant. Shonda has said repeatedly that Crowen aren't finished. They're still on their journey. I don't think the journey ends on May 17th.

You freaks and idiots are not allowed to watch Grey's Anatomy if you don't like Mer-Cris. Me and my "pals" are going to tell on ALL of you. So there and I will and I will....
