Who Should Run Gossip Girl Next Season?

at . Comments

Last week it was reported that, in all likelihood, Gossip Girl executive producer and show-runner Josh Safran is leaving the Upper East Side and headed to the theater district to take over NBC's fledgling Smash.

If Safran indeed helms Smash, this obviously leaves a void on Gossip Girl.

The show has yet to be picked for another season, thus making talk of replacements premature, but it seems more likely than not that a sixth and final season will be granted by the network at some point.

Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are also executive producers, but ceded daily control of the show to Safran after the CW drama's fourth season. If GG returns next fall or winter, who should run the show?

Someone from within? Someone new to the series altogether? It'll be interesting to see what happens. Share your thoughts on Safran's departure and your suggestions for future show-runners in the comments below ...

anyone who realizes that dan and blair are BORING! has my vote.

Someone who knows GG history and likes chair as much I do! Bring back the good days NJBC! Chair, Nair, Serena & Dan.

We all know what we want....someone that knows classic gossp girl

Anyone who will keep Dair alive.

And the original ones should have the last season, maybe they could make it good again.

Could someone who loves Chuck and Blair as much as the fans do be the new showrunner. All I want is for everything to go back to the way it was. But maybe less Dan.

Glad Safran's gone.

JOSH & STEPHANIE!!!! they were so good in the beginning and josh safran ruined it when he took over. tbh i'm kinda glad he's leaving. if josh & stephanie are the producers again i have no doubt the show will return to its previous awesomeness!!!

Stephanie Savage gets my vote. If she's too busy, then Jessica Pressler from the NY Mag Vulture recap would be great. She knows the show *very* well and it would be in safe hands with her.

Stephanie was in top control the first season and I think the show needs her very badly right now.

Gossip Girl Quotes

Blair: I've never been Bette Davis before. I'm Audrey Hepburn! Not some plain baby Jane.
Chuck: We both know this is about NYU. Now it may take time, but one day you will hold that school in the palm [kiss] of your dainty hand.
Blair: I'm Audrey. I'm Audrey!

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell ... You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl
