Hart of Dixie Review: Run Right Back to You

by at . Comments

This is the Hart of Dixie I’ve been waiting for.

Major Kiss Alert!

The process didn’t happen overnight – my feelings were certainly frayed at times over the pace – but in the end "The Big Day" finally played Dixie’s best card: the love triangle.

Now the fun can begin.

Now we get to watch Zoe teeter between two different guys, and witness each of their personalities come shining through. Now we can watch Wade and George begin trying to one up each other trying to win Zoe’s heart. Now we can watch Zoe finally begin falling in love.

Plus, the love triangle finally frees up some characters in desperate need of finding themselves: Lavon and Lemon. Lavon is stuck in this limbo that he hasn’t gotten over yet, as much as he likes to believe he has, and Lemon is so infatuated with the idea of marriage and its spoils that she was rushing things for all the wrong reasons.

In fact, we finally saw Lemon open up a little bit tonight as she discussed her mistakes, albeit vaguely, with Anna Beth. Either way, any kind of emotional baby step for Lemon is better than nothing; she’s still one of the most annoying characters ever.

At least now Lemon finally realizes no matter how much work goes into something, when you hurt someone things take time to heal. No amount of rushing can fix that, and no amount of hiding behind status and grand ideas can fix it either.

George realized it, too, as he finally began to realize the feelings he’s having for Zoe, the feelings we’ve known he’s had since the series premiere. I have to give George a lot of credit for taking the hard way out, and not entering in to a wedding with Lemon when he wasn’t fully sure.

But let’s be honest, did anyone actually think George was going to go through with the ceremony? It seemed like just about everything was out to get him and make sure the wedding didn’t happen. It was raining, the roof was leaking and breaking apart, the firehouse dog ate the cake. Couple that with the doubts George has been having prior, and it was a blessing the wedding made it that far at all.

While we’re being honest I don’t think George (nor I) expected Lemon would punch him in the face for calling off the wedding. There was bound bound to be some bruised egos, but faces? That’s a new one.

Speaking of lips, after denying the chemistry they’ve had all season, Wade and Zoe finally decided to take things where they may go. And, boy, did they have a go at it, and it all culminated with George at Zoe’s door professing his love for her with Wade none the wiser.

Might I suggest Hart of Dixie use drama a little more often? I’ll all for comfort television, but this is the first night I’ve truly felt connected to the show and couldn’t wait to see where things were heading. It was absolutely fantastic.

No matter how things are resolved and where they go, it’s going to be a very fun second season.

Other thoughts:

  • With the big commotion George has caused, it won’t take long before Brick gets wind of things, and I can only imagine how he’ll take it out on Zoe.
  • The practice took a bit of a backseat in the second half of the season (as did the medical aspect of the show), and I would love to see some of that work its way back into the story.
  • Can we have adorable baby goats on this show all the time?
  • I’m hoping Wade’s bar becomes more than an idea next season.

What did you think, Dixie fans?

To doesn't matter: While I think G/L actually make a good couple, obviously he should call it off if he couldn't go through with it. Where he loses me is doing so ON the wedding day, despite the fact that he chose Lemon and claimed to still love her and want to work through their issues and had spent the entire day trying to save the wedding he promised would happen. If he had never done so, even if he had called off the wedding days earlier, I'd have some amount of sympathy for him. Not to mention, Lemon had the affair when he left her and moved to another state, and if I remember correctly, before they were even engaged. And finally, the reason he called it off wasn't really because she cheated on him; it was mostly because of his supposed feelings for Zoe. All that combined leads me to conclude the only perspective I care about in this situation is Lemon's and she was fully justified in her anger and hurt. I don't care what the circumstances are; no one should be dumped minutes before they are to walk down the aisle. And personally I like Wade for his amazing abs AND his even more amazing personality.

Part 2:
It would be good to see Zoey being jealous of Wade's relationships next season. Season two should be interesting with the town reaction about Lemon and George's non wedding. How they react towards Zoey and Lavon when they find the truth. Wade's growth and George's denial of his baggage from a fifteen year relationship. Also, want to see what happens with Lemon.

Firstly, I have to disagree. I don't think people like Wade just for his Abs.
He is a little immature when it comes to love but he is a good guy and he means well. Wade seems to have grown up without a mother and an alcoholic father whereas George had two loving parents and had every opportunity. So you can see why George is more confident. Wade is used to being the town's screw up and I don't think he knows how to change his label. Anyway, that was a great season final. It was jam packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. Wade and Zoey scenes were really good. They have great chemistry. The scene at the end when they are laughing you can see that it was more than just casual sex for the both of them . Wade and Zoey are good for each other. Zoey makes Wade want to be a better person and Wade really challenges her to experience new things. I think she will choose George first and then realise that she has stronger feelings for Wade. It would be good to see Zoey being jealous of Wade's relationships next season if she chooses George. Next season should be great with the town's reaction of lemon and George's non wedding. How they all react towards Zoey and Lavan? I don't think Zoey will be popular if she dates George as everyone will thing she broke up the wedding.Wade's growth and George's denial of his baggage from a fifteen year relationship with lemon. Anyway, I looking forward to more Zoey and Wade scenes and I hope they end of together in the end.

I disagree with most of you, yes george did something wrong but when you think about it lemon broke his heart put it in his perspective. He loved her how would you like it if your fiancee cheated on you. And wade is soo annoying it's zoe's decission not wades or george's. If anything I want her to be with george. I mean it's like if zoe didn't sleep with wade he would still be upset. And really ppeople only care about the fact he has abs not his personality his abs! George all the way !!!!!

best episode of the season, perfect GG palate cleanser. love love love!! so happy we're getting a season 2!!!!!!

Finally!!! a Zade moment. I have been waiting all season for it and it was Hot Hot scene. I hope she chooses Wade. He is the best guy and they are great together. I think George needs to be on his own for a while. The fall back if she chooses him will leave chartacters and my fav characters leaving because they can not deal with their hearts being broken. Has to be Wade that she chooses. Plus she was happy with Wade at the end and Zoe did not even look like she wanted that kiss that is why she did not kiss him back

Avatar

Well, I did not think that Zoe was really into that kiss from George. She definitely looked torn when she went back into the room with Wade. For Season 2, I think they will have Wade pretend to have gotten Zoe out of his system by sleeping with her. She will pretend too, but it will dawn on her that he has really gotten under her skin. That will be the triangle.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my Zade! Best episode ever! I hope they make it though because Wade looked so happy....n that punch was the best, who knew Lemon could do that

FINALLY!
I was waiting for ZADE.aww, they have soo much chemistry together.
However, what's with George appearance?!screw u golden boy

I agree with Alex that it was a little fast for Zade to sleep together. BUT I think Zoe finally realized Wade is a great Guy. I do think she is still hung up over goldenboy & at the end I couldn't tell if she was thinking was with a great Guy or if she was sorry & trying to figure out how to let him down easy. I have a nagging feeling she's gonna want to give George a chance, though for the life of me I can't figure out why. Poor Wade:(
I wonder how she would feel if he opened his bar & got himself another girl?
