Just before the end, Granger said they didn't have a plan b. I think the last scene was a plan B and it will play itself out. I really had difficulty understanding what was happening. Why were they going to give him $50 million and let him go? I didn't get that. And why was Hetty NOT more upset about Hunter. (Btw, I forgot who she was and had to imdb her. My bad.) But, my biggest question is, if it is a big set up, why would they put their 'agent who can become anyone' on television? That would blow his cover as an undercover agent. (Then again, they really haven't followed the undercover agent storyline much over the years anyway.) I found the storyline confusing and, well, kinda boring.

Wow…like a lot of other people, I didn't find the first hour particularly exciting, but the second part…! Most commenters are saying that without Hetty and Callen, the show wouldn't survive, and they're probably right. But I'm sure the writers and producers of NCIS: LA know that just as well as anyone else, so it seems pretty unreasonable to me that they would get rid of both characters. I can't wait for next season! Good finale; I'll definitely be waiting for the premiere, just like with NCIS. :)
(One thing I was kind of disappointed in was that Kensi and Deeks didn't play huge parts. Everyone is great - except Granger, but that goes without saying - but Kensi and Deeks…well, unlike Hetty, I DO pick favorites. XD)

I too think that the first half of the season finale was a bit boring. The ending was shocking but it kind of reminded me of last season's finale of The Mentalist.Jane kills a man who is apparently Red John, he gets arrested and then next season he goes free.

Remember the goal of the Chameleon was to kill Callen. Was he just going to be exchanged and ride off into the sunset and forget his target? I agree with Connie (above) and that 1. this was all staged. Of course I don't know how they got the Chameleon to play along. or 2. Callen realized the Chameleon was about to trigger another explosion that would kill him and other friends. When Callen killed the guy he couldn't activate his bomb. Just a thought.

I love this show. Better then the original. But without Hetty and Callen I would be out.

Its a setup in way to show granger is the leak and having out for callen ,, I thought when he made callen stay behind and not go too warehouse he knew it was wired to explode and having callen stay behind makes him keep his leak in place , I think callen shooting chamelon will be in his mind thinkin what could happen and he didnt really do it ,,, I thinl thats where show starts next season, if hetty and callen are not around next year the show will not have chance to survive
I like the idea of this being staged. If it isn't no way Callen gets away with killing someone and coming back into law enforsement.

Wow, this season finale was tough to watch. If my favorite character, Hetty, is gone, I will have to stop watching the show, which could really dampen the joy of tv viewing on Tuesday nights. Also Callen is such a major part of each episode, I can't imagine them getting rid of him in prison for a whole season...I agree with everyone else that it must have been a set-up to flush out Granger as the leak in the department. And the person who commented that death and mayhem seem to follow in Granger's wake is spot-on...every time he's on the screen, all heck breaks loose, though I am a big fan of Mr Ferrer and his father. I seriously hope that Kenzi and Deeks get together next season..I adore scruffy Deeks and think he could loosen up Kenzi for the better

I think the Chameleon is still alive that he was wearing a vest. However, I sure hope Hetty is not really resigning! Hetty IS the show! She's terrific.
Loved it when she told the Granger idiot after he said he "wanted his hand on the tiller," and she told him, essentially, that if you want your hand on the tiller, you can't take your hand off or the boat will go in the wrong direction. Words to live by... Come back, Hetty!!!
One last thought: One thing I was particularly grateful for was that Deeks' overgrown fratboy banter was put on the back burner. After being shaken by Renko's death, Kensi shut Deeks down and I was glad he listened and didn't do the juvenile thing in trying to test her limits.

I think it was all staged so they can show the asst director is the leak and behind it all. None of the main characters will be off the show.
@Deanna Johnson: You're quite right about the explosion thing, but I don't feel the same way about it as you. The other thing all the high-rated CBS shows seem to be doing is trotting out minor characters at the last second--and then either killing them off or having them walk away:
1. Fryer gets fatally shot on H5O; Joe disappears
2. Cole is caught in an explosion on NCIS; Ryan walks away
3. Renko AND Hunter are killed on NCIS:LA (the Chameleon too--or so we're supposed to think)

I think this was all staged. I think that even the two cops were in on it, maybe, being friends of Deeks. Quite possibly the Chameleon isn't dead. Blood bullets and all and the first shot a sedative, stunning type bullet. Callen isn't a killer but they didn't want to release Chameleon guy so it needed to look authentic. Hetty may or may not be privy to the set-up, we will find out. If Callen was going to shoot anyone he should have aimed at Granger. This guy is so irritating and such a jerk. He plays his role so well that I just end up hating him.

Well THAT was a wild ride. I just have one question: Why is it that every effing time Granger shows up, he leaves a hu-NORMOUS mess behind? Get RID o' the guy already--he's bad ju-ju on 2 legs!!!!!!

Why didn't Deeks just say he was LAPD either, that should of held the cops at bay also? If anything I see Callen rising to a higher level in NCIS if Hetty does resign. I concur definitely a set up.

I got the feeling during the whole episode that Granger was trying to set Callen up. He insisted that Callen be the one interviewing and "putting pressure" on the Chameleon. And, he knew that Callen didn't like turning him over. I think he even knew that Callen was right about the Chameleon playing both sides, trading information for cash, and then trading for his freedom and even more cash. Hettie obviously doesn't trust Granger either. She'll probably find a way to prove that he set Callen up in the next season, and that will be what sets Callen free.

I think as most that it was staged. Only I think it was so that he was deemed a bad cop to go undercover for the Iranians. I can not wait until the fall should be interesting to see who has come the closest with all these speculations and predictions.

If it were staged, then we'd have to assume that the identity of the agent in Iran was faked. They needed to get the kidnapped agent back, but didn't want to give up the Chameleon. It will be interesting to see which way it was faked....but we already had a fake shooting in this show, so a fake shooting on TV here, with the police coming in (who've been informed), makes sense for a fake. Callen will be out of circulation long enough to smoke out whomever, and then the counter-plot will be revealed.

I agree with Walter- it was all staged. Did you see any blood- he pumped 5 or 6 shots into him. Next season will be awesome! Good job, actors and writers.

After reading all these comments I gotta say that mark appears to me to be more on the ball. He may be wrong about Callen "thinking ahead" etc but he's definitely on to something about the Israelis...otherwise, why introduce them into the storyline? Hetty's resignation is a little more problematic but c'mon boys and girls,- this is Hollywood! The show, unlike life, is scripted...
and we all know that Linda Hunt and Chris O'Donnell have signed on for next season so really?! Think it through. They will be back and all of this will make some sort of sense...but don't tell me watching Callen pull that trigger over and over didn't fell good!
Obviously staged and televised for one audience-the Iranians. As for Callan not being able to go undercover, the show seems to be gradually getting away from this with Callan being a regular field agent more often.

Man WHAT THE HELL?? Callen brought some good cases to the table (the Comescu family), and I hated the episodes where Hetty was replaced by Agent Hunter, not to mention that theyve brought in Granger instead of director Vance. If theres no Hetty and Callen next season I wont watch it, its worthless, they held the show together, forget a season, it wont last another 2 episodes without them.
Callen: I'm sorry. Did I miss something? Who are these guys? Kensi: They aren't guys. They're WODs. W-O-Ds. Callen: Is that like a B-F-F with an S-T-D? Kensi...
