Nikita Season Finale Review: Here We Go Again!

Here we go again!

Nikita came full circle in the finale, "Homecoming." Nikita and Michael returned to their Division home to take down Percy. Not only did they succeed, but they did the only thing they could -- took control!

Nikita in Black

Throughout the year, Nikita has struggled with her role at Division and those that she left behind. Carla wanted Division to be restored to its original mission of saving the recruits and giving them a second chance by serving their government. Nikita was convinced that was not possible. Is it now?

When Percy regained control of Division, he acted invincible. Yes, he had a brilliant and manipulative plan. His plot was complicated, but he rolled it out convincingly and it never felt contrived or unrealistic. Last Friday, we got the first twist that Percy wasn't building a bomb, but instead a satellite weapon. In the end, the manipulation was that he didn't have a full-fledged weapon at all, only a little plutonium.

That's all Percy needed to get the President to capitulate. The end game for Percy was to move on to a bigger and badder international organization. My only complaint about the finale and this storyline is about this connection. The United States has a non-negotiation policy, so why did the President give in to Percy? And, that control wouldn't be permanent so, why would the big nefarious organization let him join?

Ultimately, neither of those things mattered because Percy was killed. His belief that he was invincible got the better of him. He could have walked out a free man, but he had to take Nikita down. That cost him his life. The image of him falling and crashing through his glass prison was a satisfying end.

While Percy thought he was unbeatable, it was Roan that had more lives that a cat. But, he too was killed. The pair of them had a good run, but it was time to say goodbye. Surprisingly, I wasn't at all sad to see either of them die. It was time to move the story forward and in a new direction.

Nikita's manipulation of the Vice President was smart and honorable. When she showed up at Division with all the guns pointed at her, it was concerning, but her heartfelt speech to those left was uplifting. She was not going to let them be exterminated; they deserved the second chance they were promised.

Ryan taking over is the perfect solution ... for now. With Nikita and Michael's help, Division can clean up the mess left by Percy. Nikita and Michael have the respect of those behind. They understand each other, as they were all misled about Division's purpose. Plus, Ryan has the intellect to oversee their operations. Will they be able to maintain integrity as Carla felt was possible? Or, will the Division's power corrupt even the honest Team Nikita?

While this finale would have been a satisfying series finale, I'm thankful that we get to see more. I'm especially glad that all of Team Nikita survived. They formed their own version of a family this year and it would have been heartbreaking if any of them died. I wasn't sad to see either Percy or Roan die. Their deaths open up a whole new world of story for season three. Were you upset by their deaths? Happy that all of Team Nikita survived?

Odds and Ends

  • Will Alex and Sean go out on a date? I hope so. Since they survived this mission, they deserve some happiness.
  • The Birkhoff and Sonya kiss -- wow! That was awesome. They have been on opposite sides all season, but their interactions were full of subtle heat.
  • Amanda now has an unencrypted black box. With Percy dead, what will she use it for? Will she use it to get back into the new Division? Or, will she be a foe on the outside causing Team Nikita problems?
  • The big nefarious international organization is still out there. Team Nikita wasn't really aware of it beyond Percy's mention to Nikita about moving on. Will it be Division's mission to bring them down next season?
  • Nikita: You are not invisible. You exist. And, if they want to get to you. They have to get through me first. | permalink
  • Alex: Here we go?

Wow! Amazing season Finale. The twist at the end. Percy dying. That was just classic. I would also love to see Roan return. And become a lone ranger and try to take down division by himself like Nikita did at the beginning. With Amanda having the Black Box, Team Nikki has to do all they can to stop her and Ari from revealling those secrets. Ari, Roan and Amanda. Against Team Nikita. It would also be fun to see Team Nikita doing some jobs for their country

To mermaid. It`s what I think. So shut up yourself. Learn to spell. I watched all the Nikita episodes and put up with the cringing team Nikita crap because of team Percy. Percy was an excellent bad guy and Roan was plain scary and he gets punked by Princess and the Sean puppy?!
Nikita was a fun action show but now has morphed into a romantic, friends type action soap opera. I was hoping that Sean weak character would be killed off but no......
I won`t be watching season 3.

I'm so glad this show was renewed. Can't wait for next season and the "new" Division :)

@ jordanmcc18 there are no other black boxes, the one Ari and Amanda had was the last one. But its prob becuz of Percy's death that it got unencrypted.
Loved the finale. It was good becuz it really brought them full circle. I also thought that Nikita helming division was foreshadowed with the Carla story line and it makes total sense.
Just didn't understand what Alex and Nikita meant with here we go/ here we go again. Does it mean she doesn't trust Fletcher and the govt and they will need to find out the plans like how they infiltrated division before or just that they will be in division together... Hmmmm.... Can't wait for season 3 and 4 and 5.

Love this show, love the interaction with michael and nikita and sean and alex. Hope this show keeps up....just love it! Too bad about Percy I didn't mind his character, it would have been nice to have the "new division" battle both Percy and Amanda not together more drama!!!!!

Don't believe this. Percy's dead. Horrible. The last black box entirely decrypted. Now what would Amanda and Ari do with it? Though they are obliviously the new main villains I still hope they would end up as an ally (later). The group Percy wanted to join in should be the big bad guys. And might be after Zetrov/Alex etc. ,that be nice.

lite (what was he going to do with the plutonium then?), then juking us out again when he really did use the plutonium. His lines were crisply delivered and made me smile each time. Only thing that confused me watching the episode was when he suddenly attacked Nikita. But thinking about it now, he must have been really pissed off at her for all the trouble she's caused and he just finally let it out by trying to kill her. Love how the writers set up the whole plot to make it look like Sean was going to die. They've been teasing us the past week that a major death was going to occur and most of us assumed it would be Sean. Overall, if not the best TV episode, best Nikita episode ever (barely nudges out "All the Way").
By the way @jordanmcc18,Percy's Guardians are all dead and the last black box is in Amanda's hands.

I personally thought this was one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen. Definitely takes the place of another Nikita episode, "All the Way" (which was straight out epic and also heartbreaking) as my all time favorite. "Homecoming" was action packed and full of twists. I thought Roan would finally die along the way but Percy! Interesting to see how Season 3 kicks off without Percy and his cronies. I don't watch the show for the romantic moments (I watch it for the well-choreographed action and the epic storyline) but I have to admit, Sean's attempts at asking out Alex was just hilarious! He even gets cockblocked by Nikita, BAHAHA! I thought Nikita would harken Carla's words that there is still good in Division. I also love how "Homecoming" portrayed Division as Nikita's purpose in life and as her only home. I'm going to miss Percy, he completely played the characters and the audience with his true plan. How we thought he was building a bomb, then him using a particle beam from a satellite (what was he going to do with the plutonium then?), then juking us out again when he really did use the plutonium. His lines were crisply delivered and made me smile each time. Only thing that confused me watching the episode was when he suddenly attacked Nikita. Interesting to see where this goes...

I'd have been happy with it ending there but my interest is renewed. I'd have rather another season of TSC though.
