Oh, and Pete and Violet need to go. Like right now. Remember the days of PP when Pete was the hot mysterious guy that kissed Addison in the stairwell?? *rolls eyes*

    wow...

I'm high fiving you Christina Tran! I can hardly wait for next season because this episode was FANTASTIC. Caterina Scorsone, much like Sandra Oh from Grey's anatomy absolutely deserve AT LEAST an Emmy nod. Her pain was almost unbearable for me, and I've never been pregnant! Intense to say the least...

Elsewhere, I'm over the Sam/Jake/Addison triangle. Honestly, let Addie be happy for once! She's always torn, even from her days on Grey's. But if I had to predict, she's going to choose Sam and Jake is going to leave the practice. Which would be really sad because he's so nice to look at. UGH. BTW, that little Henry is the cutest baby in the world. Do you see his chubby little cheeks?!!?!

I also cried when Mason said he wants to call Charlotte "mama". I think I cried the entire episode. Simply well done and this show deserves some well warranted recognition. Can't wait for next season!! Is it fall yet? :(

@PP_Fan - Thanks for the kind words.

Now, to answer your question, I'd love for the next season to be entirely unpredictable. I think Private Practice is at its best when it delivers surprising storylines and unforeseen events. Furthermore, I would love for the doctors at Seaside Wellness to face actual consequences (hi Pete) for acting based on feelings rather than abiding by the law. Like another person said, this is a TV show, but I've become bothered more so lately that the doctors get away with murder - literally - ALL the time and it's a become a common thing with Addie always saving the day.

As for a CharCoop baby, I'd love nothing more than for that to happen next season. In my exclusive interview with KaDee Strickland, she said exactly the same thing. They are my favorite couple and Charlotte is my favorite character. It would certainly be entertaining to see Charlotte as a pregnant mommy.

This show was beautiful. I love Charlotte and Cooper and Mason. Loved that he wanted to call her Mama. I felt for Amelia, the story was amazing and I am loving Sheldon and Amelia. As for Sam and Addie and Jake, not sure because Sam was such a jerk to her. Pete and his wife are my least favorite on the show. They need to leave . Love the show

I thought that Addie had clearly chosen Sam, not Jake. I, for one, was annoyed. How can such an accomplished woman be so stupid when it comes to matters of the heart. If she ends up with Sam, so ends my watching this show. It is repetitive and redundant and I refuse to believe that Sam is her soulmate. He is just too selfish!!!

  6. Lynne

Great season finale. Addison and Jake ended last season finale together and she was stupid enough to go back to Sam. He has caused enough damage to her. Her lfe should move in. Jake is ever the gentleman who has been by her side. It's both their turn to be together

I am not a regular viewer of this show, but I got drawn in by Amelia's gut-wrenching story. I'm still unbelievably shocked by how graphically the show depicted the "harvest" of her son's organs, and even worse, how the show basically ignored that using a living (by all legal definitions) anencephalitic baby as nothing more than an organ store is ethically-questionable, highly-controversial and actually against the law. Granted there should be more of a spotlight on organ donations especially for ill children under the age of 2. However, Amelia's decision, while noble, was not hers to make. Anencephalitic babies may be missing the majority of their brain but it's my understanding that they are not born legally "brain dead" (which is what is legally required, for now, for organ donation). They have working cerebral cortexes that can keep them alive for hours, days, weeks, and even occasionally years.

And I agree with the comment that said that Addison will probably choose to marry Sam, but find out that she's pregnant with Jakes baby at the same time. That would be the kind of situation that Addy tends to find herself in when it comes to men.
BTW, I miss the Violet Annoyance Scale! There just wasn't enough of her to be too annoying this ep, but I agree that Pete was plenty annoying for both of them. And Sheldon crying while Amelia comforts him was also heartbreaking. What an intense hour of TV! Props to the cast, they did an amazing job!

"When Amelia held her child and had only a couple of seconds to decide what to do next, I simply couldn’t hold the tears back.
I’ve said it before and I need to say it again: Caterina Scorsone was absolutely fantastic tonight. Every ounce of her pain and angst was perfectly expressed. This girl needs to totally be honored for her work."
I totally agree with the reviewer on the above, because that is exactly how I felt when watching Amelia look at her baby and tell him goodbye. It was heartbreaking, and beautifully acted by Scorsone, who deserves an Emmy for that performance. I also cried when Charlotte had her talk with Mason, and when he asked if he could call her "Mama"...I nearly went through a whole box of tissues during this episode. Oh, and I sincerely hope that Amelia's brave choice of donating her baby's organs, and showing that on TV how many babies were saved by her little one will spur other parents to donate the organs of their babies who are dying or born non-viable

  10. Jean

This was a great episode. It totally showed a real life situation with Amelia having to choose the fate of her baby. I know there was a thin grey line in her choice, but look how her baby's organs changed the lives of the the receipients. I am glad that she chose to hold her baby and to bond with him. She didn't make her choice without much consideration.

As far as Sam's proposal, some people need to be pushed into making a decision because it was just easier not to. He now realizes what he might lose. I think Addison will choose Sam because she has been in love with him. She and Jake would make a great couple also, but I think that is just too easy of a story line! He and Amelia would definitely make a great couple, but I am wondering where Sheldon fits in? Anyway, Addison has all summer to make her decision! lol. I can hardly wait! Good job Shondra! I love both Grey's and Private Practice!!

  11. Samantha

    Loved every minute! Beautifully done.
I'm all about Addi and Jake.
Sam had his chance. And I really hope they
dont go there again. They are better friends.

  12. PP_Fan

Last night's episode was fantastic! All of Amelia's scenes were so gut-wrenching! You really felt for her and her pain.

I really loved all of Charlotte and Cooper scenes. I love them more in each episode. The last scene b/w Charlotte and Mason was so adorable. It been incredible watching Charlotte embrace motherhood throughout the season. What did ya'll think....I would really love to know your thought???

@Christina Tran - First, I would like to thank you for all your great updates throughout this season. I know we've all enjoyed reading them and we can't wait to read your updates next season. Second, what do you think will happen next season....since it's presumably going to be the last season do you think Shonda will give us CharCoop fans a CharCoop baby???

Thanks again! Can't wait for Private Practice Season 6!!!

  13. Dianne

I don't know, maybe it is just me, but did they have to show the actual surgery removing the organs of that baby? I found it unnecessary and offensive. This troup consistently works outside the framework of the rules and laws and no one ever seems to be held accountable for their actions. I know this is just TV, but come on now.

  14. Marina

Sam and Addison need to be over! This storyline is exhausting, redundant and too predictable. Been there, done that way too often. It's time to move on. Jake and Addison's relationship needs to further evolve. It has taken some time to get these characters to where they are, much to my anticipation and patience, and I would hate to see it end on account of Sam's interference and Addison's fragility towards him. Addison needs to evoke the same kind of emotional strength and focus she has as a doctor into her personal life. She needs to be more decisive and stronger when it comes to her relationships. Clearly, Jake is a better fit in her life. They appear to be much more compatible and understanding of one another's wants and needs.

Overall, it was a really intense season finale from beginning to end. I hope that it will be around for season 7 and onward. Maybe with some fresh story lines and relationships, it will get viewers back on board to allow that to happen.

  15. Sarah

Addison slept with Jake, wouldn't it be interesting if she chooses Sam 's proposal but ends up pregnant with Jakes baby now that show hass slept with him? That would be a great story line to go from here although truly I hope she kicks Sam out and takes Jake he is thevreal gentleman in this situation . He never pushed to hard gave her space, no pic me or pic a baby like selfish Sam. Amelia was amazing in her part I hope they add a young ne intern her age for her to fall for next season she needs something good she has taken the worst in this last season

  16. V

@Sheena Thank goodness someone sees the chemistry I see between jake and Amelia. Without anything sexual in scenes between them you feel a connection/chemistry between the actors. The time he opened up about his wife to her and when he held her and pressed down on her lower back to ease her contractions were just amazing to me. She didn't need to be gazing hungrily at him nor nearly pressed up against him acting coy (like Addison) to have an amazing connection with him. Who else on the show would understand the struggle, support and ultimately love an addict the way jake would? Some couples are just tv gold and given a chance, Amelia and Jake would be just that.
@Susan, I agree the unnecessary love triangle took something away from the episode. It really was totally unnecessary. Maybe if the drama had happened before the birth it wouldn't have been such a let down.

  17. Belinda

Great hour... With the exception of Sam! I love Taye Diggs but, I'm seriously starting to hate Sam! He can't make up his mind about what he wants, One minute he's telling Addie she needs more reliable childcare for Henry and then the next minute he's telling her he wants to be her baby daddy?! I say she either decides to move away from Sam and towards something REAL with Jake or, she leave all the boys behind with the exception of her main man Henry!

@Sarah - I, too, don't recall Pete being ever so stubborn and annoying like he has been lately. The thought that Violet has been rubbing off on him has definitely crossed my mind a number of times. All I have to say is: poor Lucas!

Pete I could no longer care about.
    Violet barely had a part.
Charlotte and Cooper both felt irrelevant to the storyline other than being their new parenting selves.
I really love Sheldon and Amelia's friendship. I hope it stays this way. I'm really upset about the death of her baby, but hey, Shonda did it well. I'm proud of the organ donation of her son and I think it was a wonderful choice.
I love Jake and Addison, I really do. But something tells me that they're done already. I agree with Addison's "too little, too late" speech, but this is Sam. They've been pining for 3 seasons now. She'll either choose Sam or none for now. Jake on his way over with flowers and chinese food was lovely, but I don't think he stands a chance. Sam just offered Addison the world and knowing Addison, she'll take what he's offering.

  20. joan

I've been watching this sense season 1 and i would love to see Addie with Jake i think she has to much drama with Sam and he only want her when she wants someone else.i dont think it will be good for Henry!!!!

  21. Katrina

I'm such a fan of PP. I really hope Addison won't choose Sam. You never date your bestfriend's man. Not only that Jake seems to be a better fit for Addison. They have chemistry starting last season. Hopefully Shonda will give Addison true love next season.

  22. Ninque

Oh Shonda, please don't go to the AddiSam road again! We want Jadison! PP is my favourite show. It should have at least 7 or 8 seasons!

  23. Sarah

Do we think that being with Violet has made Pete just as annoying (if not more annoying) as she is? I don't remember Pete being this annoying/stubborn before they got together...

Other than Pete's story line this was a great episode. I loved the debate about this issue.

Though I do have one question - didn't Sam come back to surgery only recently? When did he become the "best heart guy at St. Ambrose"? He was a general practitioner when we started. Wasn't he?

  24. Linda

I watched this episode because my roommate was watching it... not a TV watcher, have no idea who half these characters are... and I couldn't stop watching. By the end I was in tears. Wow. Wow. Guys, I had no idea PP could be so effing good.

(Afterwards I spent an hour reading up on anencephalic newborns and the legal issues with organ donation, while crying. TV drama episode that also educated me?! Didn't think it was possible! Double-win! I'm a dork.)

I had to look up the actress for Amelia. Bravo, Caterina Scorsone. I hope you get nominated for an Emmy! And the writer who penned those scenes with her is phenomenal.

But as for the rest of the episode... agree with V and leenokinnee on the "WTF Jake+Addison in the sack / WTF Sam's proposal" moments. Seriously? Why didn't they just finish the episode after Amelia's birth & surgery, when Jake is hugging Addison? Romp in the sack: unnecessary. Love triangle stuff afterwards: unnecessary. I went from tears to rolling my eyes i

  25. Sheena (continued)

was all about respect, not trying to take a girl from under another man's feet. Sometimes, he reminds me of a kid who does not want to play with a toy until he sees someone else with it.

And why is she smiling at the end? Smiling because two men want you? Almost as if she was happy about it. I would rather her have had a different reaction than a smile.

The 'Mamma' scene was adorable. Even if her character never has a baby, this will always make her a mom.

I agree that Addison needs some time for herself and her son. But maybe part of her character trait is defining herself through other men.
