Ryan Murphy has made it clear in multiple interviews: Jessica Lange will play a very different character on American Horror Story Season 2 than she played on this same FX series last year.
The creator wasn't kidding.
Speaking to MTV News, American Horror Story writer Tim Minear confirmed that the Emmy winner will be working at an asylum for the criminal insane and then added:
"She's playing a nun. She's playing an administrator of a facility. It's different. In this instance, she's a bride of Christ."
Reiterating that the upcoming season will feature a "whole new story, a whole new location [and] a whole new time frame, Minear said "the reason we're doing it in the 1960s is because that fits the story that we want to tell."
And that story will partly include a role for Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Simply stating that the singer will be one of "The Lovers," Minear teased: "Let's say that Adam's character is kind of a nod to contemporary sensibilities, as opposed to something from the mid-century."
American Horror Story is expected to return in October.
