I should be happy but modern US cable shows = SHORT K-Dramas. To make it worst, they're spacing these "seasons" several months, up to a year apart! Shows in the same basic vein (e.g. dark historical drama, dark modern drama, dark comedy, light comedy) are no longer "competing" for the same audience. But this marketing ploy isn't escaping fans, it's making them angry. Yes, by making the seasons shorter production essentially becomes a very long film that is then chopped up for the viewer - higher production values, access to better actors, directors, writers, producers, editors, etc. But what about the viewer, eh? Who watches broadcast shows at a longer stretch (e.g. 22 vs. 8-13 per season; 44 vs. 8 - 16 annually)? So though cable shows dominate Emmy wins, deservedly so from a production viewpoint, their audience rate is much lower (broadcast vs basic cable vs premium cable vs internet, streaming, downloading).
