Grey's Anatomy Review: The Heartbreak Hospital

at . Comments

Grey’s Anatomy aired its second episode of the season with "Remember the Time," an installment that jumped back in time to right after the fatal plane crash and the days after. Although I knew it was coming, I was totally not prepared for it.

How much more tragedy can these doctors take? Seriously, it’s no wonder that Cristina couldn’t bear to handle the situation after they were rescued. There have been bombs, shootings and too many deaths to count.

The McDreamys. Meredith was lucky enough to get out of that crash without too much damage. Derek, however, was not. His hand was mangled. REALLY mangled. Who else was pumped that he asked Callie to do his surgery? The girl doesn’t get enough credit on her work. Remember when she made that girl walk who was bent over at a ninety degree angle? I mean, seriously.

Crazy Cristina. Yang went into a spiral after the crash. Her speech to Owen about what she endured out there was heartbreaking. Keeping the bugs out of Arizona’s leg and having Mark fall to pieces on her was terrible. She still managed to say a couple funny lines that you can check out on the Grey’s Anatomy quotes page. She was right on running away to her new job. But I'm not too sure how long that will last.

Goodbye Leg. Wow, Arizona was pissed. Rightfully so. She blames Alex for her situation because the only reason she got on that plane was anger at him. Callie’s call to have Alex cut off her leg could not have gone well. I am curious to see Arizona’s reaction after the surgery. She can’t go on blaming Alex, but how do you move forward from that?

Missing McSteamy. Although we knew Eric Dane would be in this episode, I almost wish he wasn’t. It was sad enough watching him die the first time. It had been so long since we have seen Julia that I almost forgot who she was. I know I wasn’t the only one who teared up when Sloan admitted that he loved Lexie. We now have officially said goodbye to the most handsome man to walk the halls of Seattle Grace. Grey’s Anatomy will never be the same.

Side Notes...

  • April was heading home to the farm now that her contract was officially over. Avery asked her to meet him at Joe’s but never got to show up because of Sloan. Where is this couple headed now that she is on her way back to Seattle?
  • Just a few glances of the new interns this week. Still not too exciting. We have enough cast members to worry about.
  • Who else wishes they could have seen the goodbye between Cristina and Owen?
  • Bailey just moved up another level with me, if that was even possible. She officially became awesome when she made a Lost reference.

Overall, a pretty solid episode that filled us in on the tragic plane crash. I wasn’t too sure that I was going to like the fact that we flash backed in time, but the episode was entertaining and tugged at your heart strings. Just the way we like our Grey’s Anatomy.
We have a week off before our next new episode, so use that time to hit up the comments and check out the TV Fanatic Grey’s Anatomy Round Table this weekend. Until next time, GA Fans.

It just gets more rediculous, from bad wrighting to bad acting, and from actors who once I actually enjoyed each week to tune in and watch.

I liked the episode a lot. At first the jumps lost me, but once I was on board I liked it. I also wondered why no Callie in Boise and what made Mark fail over time (I worked in a nursing facility so I know about the burst of energy, but I mean the physical ailment). Wish we could've seen the initial reaction of the news. It was good to see Bailey back to normal, and the scene with Christina in the bathtub. Gah! JCap and Sara R seriously amaze me. Can't wait to see what torture they have for us in store. The interns don't faze me, but I like Tina Majorino. I always have, so I hope she stays. I actually liked the episodes being reversed. Made them both more impactful.

it was really sad watching mark die again. he just died of a heartbreak i guess.

The episode was great. The scene with Christina in the tub describing what took place and how she stayed awake for 4 days because Mark kept dying and that she thought the animals were coming for her until she realized they were fighting over Lexie was just so pitiful but it filled in for us all of the blanks. When they first showed Meredith she was asking for Lexie. I too liked that they brought Zola to Meredith. It was so sad when Jackson realized Mark was dying and tried to get Sophie to him before he died. I can't wait to see who Alex's new love interest is going to be. I want him to be Izzy happy again. I would so love to see Izzie's character brought back and the 2 of them end up together before the series closes. I look for Christina to eventually be back at Seattle Grace but it will take a while. I loved the episode. I hate we have a 2 week break before the next show. Private Practice was really good too. Maybe they bring Addison back to Grey's since she is leaving Private Practice and maybe she and Alex end up together. I would love to see her back on Grey's.

i liked this episode and i dont mind that it wasnt the first episode. i feel bad after having to watch mark go a second time. it makes sense to me cause christina had to revive him and/or keep him alive multipule times if you listen to what she tells owen. im sure that they werent able to fix everything in boise and that the stress to his body after being intabated and shocked multipule times was too much for him to handle. he had his surge of energy and then succomed to his inguries. it doesnt bother me that there was no funeral for lexie or no elevator scene like there was with george and izzy. she was EATEN, what more do we need? yes there could be more mention of her but wece not seen merideths breakdown yet so we might have a lot of mentions of her when mers epi comes.somehow i think there might have been a few days break between christinas breakdown in the tub and her leaving the apartmetn. btw that was an amazing scene with christina and owen. poor callie, her wife, her best friend, all her friends, its gotta suck t be her right now. all in all i thought it was a great episode

9 seasons and still waiting on Alex's major storyline...smh

The episode was great, especially the scene where Christina is in the tub, talking about what happened in the woods. For all of you who think it's too sad, get your heads out of your asses! This show is based on depression and gore.

When Owen was giving Christina her bath, that whole speech was just heartbreaking. I can see why Arizona is mad at Alex, and poor Callie what she is about to embark on with losing Mark, and now Arizona is probably mad at her, too. I liked the scenes with Callie and Derek. Yes, I agree Meredith has seemed stronger. I was so glad to see Bailey and the Chief bring her baby to her. About the surge with Mark...I have worked in Assisted Living and a lot of patients are so ill and you think they are going to die and then, yes, they get that surge and they are strong, they want to do everything and then maybe, it depends on the patient, they pass away. It is always very sad. I also missed any mention of Lexie except for what Christina said, that brought chills to my spine. I watched the episode twice and every time it brought tears to my eyes and shivers up and down my spine.

Yes they really need more of a finale to lexie and mark, but also teddy! is the season finale seriously the last time we're ever seeing her? Wouldn't teddy have stuck around after hearing about the plane crash? Makes no sense.

Heart breaking episode. Sorry I missed the Lost reference could some one tell me what Bailey said, please? Ty
