Parks and Recreation Review: Rent-a-Swag, Take a Wife

at .

While "Halloween Surprise" isn't my favorite episode of Parks and Recreation, it will go down in history as being one of the sweetest.

Who doesn't love a good proposal? Especially from Ben and Leslie, who have had a deeply challenging long distance relationship for some time now. Plus, who can forget when they broke up because it wasn't good for Leslie's campaign and it was against the rules?

I love a little angst when the payoff is so rewarding. I just wish the rest could have been as special. Typically, during a Parks and Recreaton episode, I'm laughing at every other line. Other than the "fart attack," which made me realize that no matter how old you are, farts are still funny, and Tom's "Rent-a-Swag," idea, this episode was a bit heavy on forward story motion and less on the small stories.

But if you're a fan of the show, you're probably wishing I would just show some appreciation for the end result. Don't get me wrong - I think this is one of the better proposals I've seen on television! It felt true and I didn't get the feeling that the two of them getting married would change the dynamic for the worse like it did in some other shows that shall remain nameless.

Hanging Out on Halloween

I was skeptical when Andy and April got married, but their relationship works to better the series and I believe that Ben and Leslie's will continue to do the same. They belong in the same city. The only problem? What exactly is Ben going to do with himself?

As for other moments of note in tonight's episode: how about a scene where we actually get to see Ron teach those young girls how to use a saw? I could go for that. And Donna on Twitter? Yes, please. The joy she derived from live Tweeting a movie is the same joy I get when live Tweeting the debates. And a number of other less political television dramas.

Loved Leslie's Rosie the Riveter costume too. Perfectly in character for her to dress up as a strong, confident woman of the past.

Cheers to Leslie and Ben! And please let "Rent-a-Swag" come back in spades. Head over to our Parks and Recreation quotes department now for more!

Parks and Recreation Season 5 Episode 5 Quotes

It's just a piece of paper. He only made it for me after I specifically asked for it after crying loudly. It sure meant a lot to receive it.

Diane: Hey, am I interrupting something important?
Ron: Impossible. I work for the government.
