Private Practice to End After Season 6
We've been asking for weeks whether it should end, and now we have the answer:
Private Practice will check out of ABC following this season.
Creator Shonda Rhimes broke the news yesterday, which followed Kate Walsh's previous announced that Season 6 would be her last as Addison Montgomery.
"I’m sad to say that Private Practice‘s run will end after episode 613 this season," Rhimes wrote on her website. "There was a lot of discussion and debate but, in the end, the guys at the network and the studio and I all decided that Private Practice was reaching its finish line. Creatively, we are all extremely proud of the show and especially proud of this season — which you will all soon discover is a creative renaissance. I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s heartbreaking to end.
"Truly. I feel so lucky to write for these characters and tell these stories and I truly feel this show has taught me so much as a writer. And there’s a family here, of crew and cast, people who have bonded over these past five-and-a-half seasons. It’s rare for a show to go for more than 100 episodes and we are incredibly proud to have been such a show. And we’re grateful to all of you for spending time with us for an hour every week for the last six years. It’s meant the world."

PLEASE RECONSIDER AND BRING IT BACK OR DO A SPIN OFF WITH MOST OF THE CHARACTERS. THIS SHOW IS GREAT TV, AM SO SICK OF REALITY CRAP THAT IS ON ALL THE TIME. EVEN IF KATE WALSH LEAVES THE REST CAN CARRY THE SHOW!

@Daphne: I speak about chemistry between the actors, or course. It’s not only sexual chemistry! Two actors together can fade each other, or the contrary. Or one can be in the shadow of the other. In Patrick Dempsey’s and Caterina Scorsone’s case, they show each other to advantage. And you know, I hope, that they’re brother and sister in real life…

Maybe since Derek can't operate anymore, this will open the way for Amelia to head out to Seattle? She is a world class neuro surgeon after all.....
As for the comments that are more about blatant DISH advertising than the shows GA or PP...STOP!!! If you have nothing to contribute other than your shameful plugging for the DISH network, please do it elsewhere.

one of the saddest cancelations coming up. XD I love every single episode. It is really an compelling and emotional adventure. I will miss every single of these characters.

@Jarrod Mitchell: Yes, I know, it’s alas over for Amelia and Lexie or Amelia and Mark that I loved to see together. Fortunately the chemistry between Amelia and Derek which remains possible is good too. Hopefully we're going to see more of this.
@Sa'ad702: I hope too that we'll see Naomi, Maya and Olivia or at least hear news about them.
