NBC to Place Revolution on Four-Month Hiatus

NBC is placing its freshman hit Revolution on four-month hiatus after its midseason finale Monday, November 26. It's a risky move, in no uncertain terms, but one the Peacock thinks will pay off.

"We're aware of how rare the miracles of these hits can happen," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke tells TV Guide. "We wanted to put it in the most protected time slot possible."

"We believe people will wait for it, and we want to make sure we give Revolution every chance possible to be the hit that we think it can be."

That means after two more episodes, Revolution won't be back until March 25. That will allow NBC to air originals, uninterrupted, into the summer, while keeping the show directly after The Voice.

Season 4 of the hit singing competition kicks off that very same night.

Show needs a complete revamp. Either do away with Charlie or get another actress. She is completely unlikable. And the story line is ridiculous. The neverending Quest for Danny is lame at best. Ditch the fat guy or at least do something with his character. The constant whining about family and we have to save Danny got old on the first episode. And yes I watch this pitiful show every week because I keep hoping they will blow up Charlie or something.

4 months!! I don't mind waiting 4 months for a new season but 4 months to finish the first season!! I remember Prison Break doing this to me on the first season and I never went back. Looking like I'll be doing the same again. 4 months pfft!

This has become a pretty normal process the last few years - the "fall finale". The thinking is people will be more annoyed by frequent breaks for repeats. Most shows do 22 to 24 episodes in a season, but the actual TV season is 35 weeks. The choice is to take a complete break for a longer stretch, or to keep interrupting the flow with reruns (more often what happens with sitcoms). It's still a risky move, and judging from the responses here, it shows they stand to lose a chunk of the hard won audience they got for a new show by doing it. It's not as if they're going to raise the budget and allow any show to make enough episodes to fill the season with. That hasn't happened since the 60s.

I'm REALLY not happy about a four month "hiatus" this is my all time favorite show! How am I to get my weekly Billy Burke fix now?!!!

Remember the reboot of V with Morena Bacarrin that they put on hiatus for 4 months after five or so episodes? It was a hit at launch but the strategy did not work and the series ended after a single season. Looks like nothing was learned from that SNAFU...

What an incredibly stupid move! a 4 month hiatus!?! Are they serious?!! This show will die now.

Kill it, kill it with hiatus hahaha!

This is so stupid I hate you NBC I love revolution it's a great show with so much potential'........why?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!so dumb

What a dumb move ,seriously who came with that idea ?

Tom: To tell you the truth, when General Monroe finds out, he's gonna be irate and he might even have my head.
