Grey's Anatomy Round Table: "Run, Baby, Run"

by at .

Welcome back to TV Fanatic's Grey's Anatomy Round Table!

Last week's Grey's Anatomy review broke down "Run, Baby, Run" in great detail. Now, TV Fanatic staff members Sean McKenna, Christina Tran and Courtney Morrison have assembled for their weekly Q&A discussion.

Read their answers below and weigh in with yours!

----------------------------------------

1. Are Alex and Jo meant for each other, meant to be friends, or never meant to be?

Christina: The writers are definitely setting it up for Alex and Jo to get together. Otherwise, how else would you explain why she gets so much screen time compared to the other interns?

Courtney: I agree with Christina, that it is all in the writing. I'm hoping they do get together and Alex has a chance at a real relationship. He deserves that after all these seasons. Plus, Jo is the least annoying of all the interns.

Sean: The writers are definitely setting it up, but I'm not really a fan of going that direction. Can't they find someone else for him, who hasn't been running behind his back to tell on him? And I don't mean one of the other interns. I just don't want to feel like their relationship is being forced together.

2. Are you glad Cristina and Owen are giving it another shot?

Christina: No, not really. I once liked Owenstina, but they still have major underlying issues. If they are going to try again, they need to get down to the root cause of their problems. Owen cheated. Technically, Cristina did, too. Cristina left! Owen wants to a baby; Cristina doesn't... the list goes on.

Courtney: I enjoy these two together and they really do have great chemistry...but there are so many problems! On top of the baby/cheating issues...he is now her boss that signed off on the plane that she was on and this lawsuit resulted from. It's just another layer of complicated.

Sean: Well, yes and no. These two have great chemistry together, but they can't simply ignore all the other problems they've had. They'd really have to be on a new path and willing to change in order for it to all work out. I'd like it to, but I'm afraid their past arguments will resurface and tear them apart again.

3. Will Adele survive?

Christina: I hope so because so many people have died recently. How much more pain can our SGMW-ers handle?

Courtney: I'm predicting... no. I love the character of Adele and she has been a highlight of so many episodes. But Richard has moved on with Catherine and let's not forget Adele's "friend" at her home.  But I can be sure of one thing, Loretta Divine is going to put on an epic performance whenever her last episode is.

Sean: It'd be nice if she did survive, but I'm going to say no. In a lot of ways, Richard has already moved on. Not that he doesn't still love her, but he's already hooked up with Jackson's mom and been okay with it. It might be time for him to fully move on, unfortunately it might be this tragic moment for him.

4. Will Ben understand Miranda's reasons for ditching the wedding or will it be over for them?

Christina: Tough one, especially for Ben. He seems like a very patient man, but I can't help but wonder if Miranda could have just taken a few seconds to send a text or call him or anyone at the wedding party. Surely, the driver would have even had his phone on him if Bailey and Webber didn't. I know time was pressing, but still! I hope Ben hears her out and forgives her.

Courtney: He will understand, he is a doctor. He's definitely going to be pissed but it's Webber's wife. He has been everything to Bailey and she needs to be there for him.

Sean: I hope Ben understands, because I really feel like the circumstances weren't about running away but saving a life. I know Ben had the mini congo about Miranda's cold feet and I can see him having a talk about her not wanting to do it, so they should just not. That said, whether she would or would not have run wash't the case. She was simply helping try and save a friend, and I hope Ben will realize that.

5. Anything you want to see happen when the show comes back in 2013?

Christina: I mainly want to see a resolution for the lawsuit (kind of getting old) and of course a healthy baby for MerDer.

Courtney: Meredith and Derek having a baby! I can't even process the thought of these two having a miscarriage.

Sean: I'd really like to see the interns develop more. As characters there's so much to explore, but I feel like they've been limited to either freaking out when a doctor yells at them or just fodder for comic relief. And I'd love to see Derek get back into the doctor game. Hopefully, there aren't any complications and he can return as one of the top surgeons.

the floor and breaks. Things aren't black and white, Owen isn't the cheating type, a number of factors made him cheat. Stress, constant arguments, Cristina giving him the cold shower. I'm not defending Owen's deed, I'm just saying he didn't do it out of pure evilness. And for the record: he DID confess and WASN'T caught. Cristina asked if he had been cheating on her with Emily, he denied and she believed. He could have easily left the discussion there, but instead he continued: "... but I did cheat on you."
I don't know if this is just a "all men are pigs" -rant, or if you really hate Owen's guts so much. If you do, I'm sorry. But the truth is that Owen is probably the best thing that happened to Cristina. He's much better than Burke, and he loves Cristina with all of his heart. And for now it seems that he isn't going anywhere.

Indeed, best thing that had happened to Cristina. And Emma. And every other women in his life he certainly cheated on.
Owen's fans must be with a huge dummy face right now. I would be feeling ridiculous right now for the time I had spent supporting him.

And a year later: Owen is a big fat cheater after all. The truth came up. Cheated on Emma too. What a precious man.

neurologist or a psychologist, he doesn't know what makes people tic and what doesn't. And it's also pointless to blame him for turning his coat about the abortion. He didn't do it on purpose. He didn't just wake up one morning thinking: "Okay, I'm gonna let her terminate the pregnancy so I can later turn that against her." He thought he could handle it, and turns out he couldn't. The same way how Cristina first forgave Owen the choking, told him that she could handle it and then made love to him, only to then retreat and say: "Okay, I can't do this after all!" Funny how that seems to be okay to you, but when Owen does the exact same thing, he's a douchebag.
As for Owen cheating, that was a big mistake, and not acceptable - but not unforgivable. Cristina was incredibly cold to him at the time and was pushing him away from her. That doesn't give him the right to cheat, but seriously: If you're toying with your phone, throwing it up and catching it, don't start whining when it falls to the floor and breaks. @Ninna:
    With all due respect, WHAT?
First of all, you are aware that two people said "I do" at their wedding, right? Owen knew that Cristina didn't want children and still he married her, but Cristina also knew very well that Owen wanted children and still SHE married HIM. If you think their marriage was his mistake, you're wrong - it was THEIR mistake. Nobody forced Cristina to marry Owen, she could have said no. But she didn't. And as far as pregnancy goes, of course he tried to change her mind! It's natural. If you wanted to be rich and your partner happened to win 100000 dollars only to say he's going to give them all to charity because he doesn't want that much money, wouldn't you try to change his mind? It's called standing up for yourself and your values, not "being a self-centered bastard". He doesn't understand her dislike of children because he himself want's them. How is he supposed to get her if she doesn't give him any reason as to why she doesn't want them? Owen's not a neurologist or a psychologist, he doesn't know what makes people tic and what doesn't. And it's also pointless to blame him for turning his coat about the abortion. He didn't do it on purpose. He didn't just wake up one morning thinking: "Okay, I'm gonna let her terminate the pregnancy so I can later turn that against her." He thought he could handle it, and turns out he couldn't. ...reveals them. If he was that drunk he couldn't have cheated. He's a cheater and she deserves better.
As for Cristina slepping with Parker. She told Owen she was leaving. A marriage it's only a marriage if the two are in it otherwise it isn't. She wasn't in the marriage at that point, she was honest. It's not cheating. Incredible how there still are people who condemn her for this but are eager to close eyes to him sleeping with another woman still in the relationship AND with his wed ring in his finger!!
God, the time this douchebag is permanently out of Cristina's life is not soon enough for me.

There is people here still insisting cristina didn't discuss the issue with Owen and minimizing his behaviour as a one drunken night stand (which he has since been honest about BECAUSE HE WAS CAUGHT OTHERWISE HE WOULDN'T TELL NOTHING). Lets talk about biased...!!! Christ.
She did discussed it, more than one time and tried to discusse it again but HE was refusing it. But in the end was her decision not his. And that was what enrage him against her, things not done his way. Besides that he knew before marriage she was a free kids woman, so if she would become pregnant he had to expect she wouldn't have it, not the other way around. But as the self centered bastard he is of course he was expecting it wether it was good for her or not. And certainly had no right to a one night stand for an abortion he was there supporting.
And for those like Owen that use the dishonest 'boose as excuse', don't! Any person with a minimal experience with boose knows that boose doesn't make cheaters, reveals them. If he was that drunk he couldn't have cheated. He's a cheater and she deserves better.

I want things to work out between Owen and Cristina. They're my favorite couple, followed by Callie and Arizona. How is it that these two couples seem to have all the dirt thrown on them, while Meredith and Derek just keep living in their wonderland of constant happiness? Cristina and Owen deserve happiness, they've been through enough already.
I hope Shonda has a plan. I don't want to see how Cristina and Owen reunite only to be torn apart again by the same problems. The child-issue is my number 1 concern. But it's not like things can't change. Originally, Arizona didn't want children, then came the shooting and look at her now! She was willing to become a parent because she realized she loved Callie and didn't want to lose her. If Cristina loves Owen the same way Arizona loves Callie, she can do it too. The ingredients are all there: there was a horrible disaster, people say Cristina has changed, and it seems she now loves Owen more than ever. People DO change in real life, things like these DO happen, and accidents like these DO change people.
I hope this turn of events actually means something, that it isn't just a passion-driven kiss which just leads to them hurting each other again. Other pairs are allowed to have happiness, it's not just for MerDer. And I say, after all the amount of dirt Cristina and Owen have dealt with, they deserve some MAJOR happiness.

This is a chance for Alex to make a shift...not bed the intern but form a strong, mature friendship bond. He's said it: doesn't want to sleep with the interns. Bought the house. Now the question will be if he can resist temptations and (ahem) get over the hump.
The preview has Jackson Avery in the limo on the verge of hooking up - maybe it's a role reversal for him & Karev. Avery moving on will send Kepner into a spin, & who knows what drama that will bring on.
Cristina & Owen will face their same problems, the main one being him wanting kids and her not. Will the crises they've survived change anything? If nothing else it heated up their bond, and will help them heal the wounds. Also look for drama over them getting back together. My bet is they will try to keep it secret for a while.
That people think the lawsuit has dragged on too long already clearly have no experience with litigation and insurance settlements! This is hugely abbreviated. In real life, such a settlement would take years. But hey it's TV so it's moving along.
Bailey & Ben will iron out the mis-information and get back on course with their marriage. If not, her issues with trust will hit new lows.
Callie & Arizona will heat up, heal up, and move on stronger still.
And it's likely the end for Adele, which will put Richard in a surprising tailspin of mixed emotions to resolve.

    1. Alex/Jo: NMTB, but will likely be together.
    2. Cris/Owen another shot? Yes, would like to see Cristina give Owen another "shot" of cereal in the face. Seriously.
    3. Adele survive? Probably not. Could lead to more Catherine/Richard eventually. Really like Adele:(
    4. Ben/Miranda: Ben seems to be reasonable. Wedding glitch, however, was extreme, maybe unforgivable.
    5. Want to see: Der's hand fixed; Mer/Der/Zo w/baby; lawsuit case closed; Calzona mended; Dr. Robbins with better prosthesis; Cristina throw cereal in Owen's face again...seriously. I like KMK, but that was such a GREAT S8 scene!

1.Slow build to this, they've a lot in common childhood wise.
2.From the episode intro used with the promo photos,I wouldn't be surprised if they did get divorced.Cris said she got married cos Owen wanted it.Owen's been set up by the SGH board,so I think it will be a divorce of convenience so the plane crash victims get the compensation they deserve!Crowen'll start afresh.
3.I love Adele, but I'm not expecting to see her as a reoccuring character for much longer :((
4.I wanted to see more of the wedding decorations.Would Bailey really ditch Adele to get married when she's so ill?I don't think so.
5.For the lawsuit to be successsful. To see MerDer's pregnancy progress with only a few minor hiccups.Wonder if Shonda will be able to resist Ad coming to the rescue when the baby is due!

I loved the guys in their suits. plus, I was pleasantly surprised when Stefan turned into a beautiful swan for her date with Jackson. They also seemed to have hit it off. Kepner should be worried.
