@Lou No, Elena is still sired to Damon, it's just that instead of being mind controlled to stay WITH him, she's being mind controlled to stay AWAY from him. It doesn't matter what she feels in either case, she's still acting with no real will of her own. The sire bond is still there, but it's not as though the sire bond makes sense anyway, not only because all Damon would have to do is say "make your own choices Elena" and solve it, but before it was brought up Elena has gone against what Damon has wanted her to do plenty of times since turning.

the difference between klaus and the mystic vamps is this...nothing! yes, klaus has killed/tried to kill loved ones of the mystic vamps that ..gasp.. can never be forgiven. hypocrites. should we tell the guy's family that caroline killed in S2 she didn't really mean it? should we ask the hundreds and hundreds of ripper victims' families to forgive stefan cause he can't help it if some vamps are rippers and oh darn he just happens to be one? should we ask all of damon's victims' families to not hold a grudge because he was just having a fun night...oh wait he doesn't care who he kills so everyone else should understand his love justifies anything he does to save elena. i bet tyler's hybrid friend had family, but hey they needed him dead so elena wouldn't go insane so they just better get over it. in 1,000 yrs i bet the mystic vamps will have as many kills as klaus and feel justified in every one of them. joseph morgan, you're awesome. i only kept watching cause of your portrayal of kla

Well, I've had it! Until when will these writers insist on having this so called triangle between the Salvatore brothers and Elena and her jewel-encrusted vagina...are you serious? Arggg...Damon must move away with Stefan and just forget about her...they both should ask Klaus to compel them to leave Mystic Falls forever...this show used to be so good but now has become a boring, predictable, unbelievable mess...

- Tyler tries to kill Klaus and Caroline isn't quite ok with that, Caroline leaks Tyler's plan to Stefan, Caroline spends a lot of time with Stefan, hum it seems like Forwood isn't doing so well!
- Mayor lockwood is dead (rip), that leaves only 3 non-supernatural characters among the Mystic Fall's inhabitants that we know: Matt, April and Caroline's mum, hang on guys.

Damon broke up with Elena IN ORDER TO BREAK THE BOND! Meaning if her feelings are strong enough she'll come back to him and the sire bond will possibly be over. That's what the witch from New Orleans said in a previous episode. Or at least that's how I got it. It's either that or they're all idiots, cause they could indeed, as you say Matt, deal with the sire bond thing in plenty of ways.
The hybrids and vampirism cure storylines were way too contrived, rushed and confusing! So Klaus needed to kill 12 of his precious hybrids? Why was that? Prof. Shane wanted 12 hybrids to be killed too, for what purpose exactly? Are Klaus and him working together? Why does Shane need to find the cure for vampirism or Silas? Why was he somehow involved in the death/suicide of the council members? And is that Silas character the greater evil they feared?
- Caroline and Stefan have so much more chemistry than Stelena or Forwood!
- Rebekah: stabbed-unstabbed-stabbed-unstabbed-stab...

Am I the only person who thinks the love triangle gets in the way of the show's real potential? I want so badly for the characters to break out of their mold. How about a Caroline/Klaus relationship that won't end in Klaus changing his ways or Caroline eventually betraying him for her friends?
Or Bonnie, not being a slave to Elena and all the stupid problems that arise from her being the way she is. Who is desperate to see Bonnie being a bad ass witch who is on her OWN team for a change? Not some person who has a bunch of rebellious spouts but then ends up helping the dreaded elena/damon/stefan good guy gang?
I thought Elena becoming a vampire would mean we wouldn't have to hear he whine again.
The whole hybrid/Tyler storyline is a bore, and I have never felt the chemistry between Tyler & Caroline.
Klaus, Rebecca, Caroline, Jeremy, Bonnie & most recently April - these are the characters who have the most potential if they just spin their stories the right way.

ARGH!!! This Damon/Elena sire bond is ridiculous! I honestly feel like not watching the show anymore, which sounds crazy to me because this was my #1 show. They need to fix their storylines ASAP (starting with the whole Delena plot), before VD turns into another Gossip Girl.

Going to ask this question again since I really want to know.
The Lockwood is a founding family so why didn't she (Tyler's mother) have a ring that helps her against supernatural death? So she's not really dead... maybe...

The thing I liked most about this episode was Klaus - seeing through Caroline's distraction plan ("I that our thing now?"), going back to killer mode and yet treating Stefan as a some-kind-of-friend. Great!!

Why, again, must Damon choose option number-two? How, exactly, is that doing the "right thing" by Elena? And why on earth was any of this trumped up, aside to drag out the love triangle further and further and further?
I'm confused, and - far worse - I really don't care about any of it.
Exactly my thoughts during the episode! I didn't understand that part as well as Tyler's really dump plan.
And why the hell did Caroline have to tell Stefan about Damon and Elena? When she said "Trust is everything" I thought she would run to Tyler (because she spilled the hybrid's plan to Stefan). And instead she spills just another thing to her friend.
Interesting, though, that Stefan and Caroline are starting to develop some sympathy for Klaus. How long that will last is of course another question...

Okay.. here's the thing that everyone seems to be forgetting while being caught up in the Damon/Elena whirlwind. Elena did choose between the brothers, and she chose Stefan, for a reason her feelings were stronger and her love for him didn't stop when she developed feelings for Damon, when she turned with Damon's blood in her system those feelings became stronger, if the sire bond had nothing to do with her wanting to be with Damon, then she would have stayed with Stefan.. the whole premise of emotions becoming stronger when you turn doesn't work if it's only some feelings.. her feelings for Stefan would have become stronger too and still won out over her feelings for Damon. So the siring of her to Damon does come into play.. no one can deny that before Elena turned she had feelings for Damon, but she didn't want to act on those feelings which is why she CHOSE Stefan. So the sire bond did affect how she acted when she became a vampire her wants were put to the side for Damon's wants. T

I think it was needed to address the biggest hurdle between Klaus and Caroline......that's Klaus being well Klaus!!!
I liked that......Stefan and Caroline were so much in sync... Loved their dynamic!!!
Tyler's plan was I'll say downright dumb!!!! It didn't make sense
Loved Klaus ....the ending sequence was haunting!! He nailed it!! He carried the damn episode!!
P.S.: the originals make TVD look fresh and alive!! Excited they are back!!!:-D

Also, this whole sire bond stuff is SO dumb. Damon making Elena stay away from him isn't making the feelings go away, it's just Stefan finding a way to once again make Damon do what would benefit him. Really all Damon's done is use the sire bond to Stefan's benefit. Elena's feelings are still there. He didn't fix anything. Stupid.

I found this episode to be much less exciting than the previous ones. There wasn't much shock value, except for a bit when Hayley revealed that the plan Tyler thought he was enacting was not happening at all. I still don't understand why it was necessary to do any of that (especially why Klaus had to kill the hybrids). I am, however, curious as to what Shane is up to that he needs 12 dead humans AND 12 dead hybrids. My guess is he wants to delve into some dark magic to wake Silas, though why this needs to happen is not really clear yet. Honestly, Shane and Jeremy are more interesting to me than any of the other characters, which is definitely a bad thing for TVD. But I guess we should be used to the good/bad roller coaster this show continually takes us on...

Enough with making Damon do the 'noble' thing and forcing Elena away with his sire bond. It was said that you have to have feelings for the person for the sire bond to work. Stefan is being selfish because he wants Elena. He should realize that Elena had feelings for Damon with the whole sire bond explanation.
Caroline is driving me crazy with her petty actions concerning Damon. Very disappointed and Stephan needs to set Elena free also so she can decide who she really does care about and he needs to have Damon unglamour Elena so she can make the choice.

Does Elena even want ti be cured? And if so why just Elena? Maybe Caroline wants to be human. We know Stefan and Damon do. So why just Elena?
Klaus wanted to kill Tyler, that is why he asked the hybrid chick where he was and asked Mayor Lockwood where he was and when she did not know he killed her instead!
I am really liking Caroline and Stefan being there for each other and as much as I am team Stelena I think I may be okat if we have Stephan and Caroline as a couple.
And the whole concrete temporary thing is doable (just look at Ron Edington in True Blood)
I love this show and I am looking forward to the return!
Wow Matt I am shocked that you gave this episode a low rating! I think it was FANTASTIC!
Damon was trying to do the right thing with Elena by setting her free. He even said so himself to Elena that he felt bad betraying Stefan, I think that is part of why he let her go, he is willing to sacrfice his chance and happiness with Elena for Stefan!
Klaus is always 1 step ahead and at some point he realized the hybrids had been unsired as when he and Stefan were in the town square and hybrid boy came to get him he knew he was on his way to his possible death BUT this is Klaus and I knew he was going to kill them all before any of them made a move. My only thought is for Shane's plan does he have to kill them or do they just have to be dead? Also I lost count, is Tyler part of the 12?

I do know we don't know her.. but I think that is the point of her character.. we know Tyler is close to her.. we know she is shady and helping Shane to find her birth parents.. that is kind of all we need to know.. I think she is staying a mystery for a reason.. too much info on another character.. it's too much. and Damon letting Elena go.. that is for Stefan, he could love Elena all he wants.. but Stefan was with her first they were in love and together... Stefan is his Brother for crying out loud... he doesn't want a girl to destroy his relationship with his brother all over again. the only way to work this out is to keep Elena away, yes the feelings will still be there, BUT once they find the cure and she takes it... she will be human again, and the sire bond will be broken

....secretly rooting for Klaus and Caroline, but it just seems so unrealistic that Stefan and Caroline would be the ones taking about this and feeling sorry about this... I feel that if Stefan were truly in love with Elena he wouldnt even consider feeling sorry for the guy or be friends with the guy who brought Elena so much pain and fear... Caroline... well it's surprising but we all do know she is a sucky friend and girlfriend... so that's a tad more believable...
