Person of Interest Review: The Return of Kara Comments (Page 3)

I actually think this episode suffered by how awesome the last one was, so it was really just the last third of a movie type story. It did wrap up a little too neatly, but I think they might have figured, John's back story is actually more or less complete and why don't we wrap up all the miscellaneous Season 1 stuff about the Man in the Suit so Carter doesn't have to do that odd dance all the time. It was also kind of apparent that the name was going to be Harold, but it lead me to a random thought...that isn't our Harold's real name is it? I am pretty sure Harold is his first name but the last name, I don't know, I was only half sure Reese was actually John's real last name until last night when Snow used it in flashback.

Am I the only on who enjoyed this episode? It wasn't perfect, but it kept you wondering what was next from start to finish. They set a dark tone from the start- no joking around or playing with Bear. The Kara the writers created, to me, was as menacing as Root. Maybe more. They both kill without hesitation. I thought the ending was great and surprising when Kara found Snow in her car and they were both blown up. Justice! (Yes, Annie Parisse is now on the cast of "The Following." Will miss her). Loved Bear so joyfully welcoming Reese home in the end! Agree declaring Snow the "man in the suit" and now dead was a stretch but still creative.

Excellent that they have picked cyber war for the back half of S2. With "Flame" and "Stuxnet" already out there -and worse coming- there'll be plenty of excitement for us all - on POI and in real life.

Also, how the hell did Kara manage to get an unconscious Reese onto a public bus without anybody noticing and finding it a bit suspicious?

  4. JJ

Did the new bad guy remind anyone of Emperor Palpatine lol?

In one ep from last season, Kara, John and Mark were in a cheap motel room that turned out to be in New York --- "You're behind enemey lines". Mark comes into the room with "cheap Polish vodka". They ask about a glass and Kara goes into the bathroom to retrieve one and there is a guy in the bathtub with a hood over his head. He is their "package" who had something to do (if I remember) with selling something to China. The implication is that the package ultimately gets retired. After last night's ep, my guess is that the man in the bathtub is Nathan.

I too was a little disappointed especially after the last episode which was excellent. The reunion between Reese and Stanton was one of the things I was really looking forward to this season. I was expecting it to be really explosive which it didn't turn out to be IMO. Hopefully she is not dead and there'll be another meeting down the line.
Also the whole man in the suit/FBI thing continued to be rather ridiculous - they have several pictures and even video of the guy so how can they think that short balding Mark Snow is the one...?
Looks like the five month cyber attack is set for the season finale in May.

I really dont think finch is involved in china (although that would explain how he got to john in the first episode). I think the organization is looking for the machine, and we all know that harold is the only one who knows where the machine is. John nolan's character said he doesnt work for the government, so maybe he used to work for them, and so he knows about the machine. He wants kara to find finch so he can find the machine. And I'm pretty sure root works for them too

Also FWIW the producers have to have these story arcs wrapped up so they can be syndicated out of order. Some very nicely done continuing thread type shows are useless because no syndicator ever plays them in order. Having two or three parters are also annoying, but they are willing to do it.

The thing about Finch was obvious when the guy in the hospital told her someone had sold the laptop. Also I think it is going to turn out that the name / Finch was a lie to unleash the off kilter Kara to go after Finch, and that plan will be looped back in the future, not with Kara, but someone.

The moles / people who put in the virus / were manipulating Kara, rather than giving her a reward, and I'm sure that will loop back in with some character.

Actually the wrapup of a thread that was weak was the last scene with the envelope which wrapped up the captivity of Reese.

I really enjoyed this episode. I'm intrigue in what's gonna happen next and the new group. That scene between Carter and Reese, aawww.. ^.^ like family. LoVED IT! Lookin' forward to the next episode.

I'm guessing the John Nolan character and Root are connected because of her interest in Harold & the Machine.

i don't think Kara is dead, it was too easy of a wrap up to the storyline, and WOW, what a show, i do agree it was a weak episode compared to other weeks, more answers, more questions, more hooked!!!!

@WattaKitty - On one and two, I believe you're right. I'm more interested in those future complications and repercussions of what took place, but it's good to hear you enjoyed the ep!

Couple things: Number one, the past four episodes have actually been a real-time arc of about 4-5 days. Number two, Kara had to die because Annie Parisse has a new gig (on The Following, I think). Personally I thought it was a great episode, doling out answers, triggering new questions, and setting up all kinds of future complications.

I thought that Kara was using Snow to humiliate him, but she kept asking Reese if he missed the action of being an agent. She knows his weakness (in her worldview)was his morality--and she regretted that they were unable to work together anymore. I thought it was a very good episode.

@Viv - I'm glad you liked the episode! I'm looking forward to seeing more answers with the Machine too

Loved the episode! I´m getting more and more courious about the whole machine story. I wasn´t suprised that the name was Harold and yet I said WTF out loud. That he had something to do with the china thing was a twist that I never saw coming. I can´t wait to get some answers!
    (sorry for possible bad english)
