The CW has released the official episode synopsis for the 17th installment of The Vampire Diaries Season 4, "Because the Night." It will air on March 21, it will feature the return of a TV Fanatic favorite and it will take us back to Damon's life in the 1970s. In The Big Apple!

Sibling vs. Sibling

What can viewers expect from this outing? What was Damon like during an era of hippies and drugs? Read on. Find out. Comment away!

Realizing that Elena needs some time away from Mystic Falls, Damon takes her to New York City, where he lived and partied hard in the 1970s.

When Rebekah also shows up in New York, she’s impressed with Elena’s secret agenda. Flashbacks reveal Damon’s hedonistic life in the underground club scene and a complicated encounter with Lexi.

Meanwhile, Caroline and Stefan try to convince Klaus that it would be in his own best interest to help them track Silas down, and Bonnie struggles to keep her grasp on reality and do the right thing.

Elena NEEDS to get out of mystic falls, good for Damon! She needs to get out and away from all of her problems( even though her humanity is off) she still needs time away. Delena in NYC? :)I think this will, ofcourse bring them closer together, but Damon wants to show Elena how bad he was back then(in controllable I'm guessing) and that she needs restraint. If anyone knows how to be a vampire and is slowly gaining back their humanity, it's Damon. I can't wait to see him in the 70's, and I love flashback episodes, it helps us understand the characters more. Although, lol to the fact that Stefan and Caroline are dealing with Silas. Why does Lexi always show up in Damon's past so much? I agree, they killed her off too quickly. Cannot wait for this episode!!

Delena in NY, Damon flashback in 70s....sounds like an amazing episode. But I don't know why we have to see Lexi again. Honestly every flashback of her with Damon and Stefan makes me love that episode more and more when Damon killed her. Stefan and Caroline are going to deal with Silas situation...LOL. If this plan goes just as great as all their other once then that supernatural apocalypse is inevitable.

Wow at this show. Elena is up in New York while Caroline is left back in MF doing the job that Elena is surposed to do as the MAIN CHARACTER of the series, regarding Silas? Come on people!
I dont give a crap about Damons life in New York back in the 70s, if its for character development then its fine but its far too late for that anyways.
I agree, killing off Lexie was one of the worst decisions that this shows writers have made.

I agree, killing off Lexi so soon was definitely one of the dumbest decisions. I like her character very much and she should have lasted much much longer on TVD. I like seeing her in flashbacks (not so much in the ghost themed debacle of season 3) but it would have been better to have her around on a regular basis. I would gladly trade her for Bonnie. I bet Julie & Kevin are singing "I wish I could turn back time" on this one every day. I wonder if she's gonna hook up with Damon in the 70's flashback...

I hate that Lexie died so quickly. Yes she came back in flashbacks and Ghost Town but she had SO much potential. Tsk tsk, worst move by Julie Plec and kevin williamson.

Blarfingal. Um ja, so Bonnie is basically loosing it. Sounds like Julie Plec.

Sounds like a great episode. I'm very interested in seeing what Elena's secret agenda is. Can't wait for it.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Dear Elena, yes you heard that correctly. Hell has frozen over. I'm writing it all down. Granted, I'm half a bottle in thanks to my 1950 Chateau Cheval Blanc, a bottle I waited 65 years to open. I used to spend nights sitting in my wine cellar convincing myself I could hear it age, tannins growing, fermenting, but appreciating its beauty didn't make time go by any faster. The bottle just laid there on its shelf, torturing me while I waited for Katherine and time stood still. Eventually I convinced myself that no sip of that wine could ever taste as good as I dreamt it would. And that is the story of why I drink bourbon. I don't know who I am without you, but I know that as long as I'm with you, time will stand still. So who is Damon Salvatore without Elena Gilbert? A selfish friend, a jealous brother, a horrible son? Or maybe with a little luck, I'll do right by you. Because you may be a thousand miles away or a hundred years away, but you're still here with me and my heart is right there in that coffin with you. Until you come back to me.
