Southland: Canceled by TNT

In unsurprising - albeit still disappointing - news, TNT has canceled Southland.

Tracking Bank Robbers

The drama appeared to be in trouble when a number of its cast members signed on for other pilots, but the network made the decision official today via the following statement:

"We are enormously proud of Southland, which stands as one of the best police dramas ever made. Executive producers John Wells, Chris Chulack and Jonathan Lisco, along with creator Ann Biderman and our partners at Warner Bros. Television, have given us five seasons of powerful, unforgettable storytelling, for which we are deeply grateful. We also want to thank the amazing cast for their impassioned, no-holds-barred performances, and the production team for their tenacity shooting on the streets of real-world Los Angeles. We wish everyone associated with Southland the very best."

In other cancelation news, NBC also brought the axe down on Go On this afternoon.

I cannot believe this incredible series has been cancelled. One of the best, if not the best show on tv. I've never seen a program filmed in the way this was...amazingly gritty performances by the entire cast. Michael C is fantastic. This is a shame.

I thought TNT knew what they were doing. Now i am not so sure. Souhland was so incredible i was sad when every episode ended. I guess they must have needed more room for yet another crappy show no one cares about. Sad day for all Southland fans!

Southland was my favorite show, and I cannot believe it is cancelled! I think it is a hoax, and it will come back! Just B.S.politics!!!

This show sucked me in on every episode. Great writing, characters, acting, etc. There is a lot of crap on TV and it is always disappointing to see the great shows get the boot. Most police shows are milk toast.
It would be nice if all police were perfect and never corrupt. This show was about how police deal with the worse of people everyday, how that creeps in their own lives and how they try to stay sane.

I agree to seeing what Michael C has in the works. I'm gonna pretend his character survived those gunshots. Gonna miss John, Dewey, Ben and Lydia.

Very disappointed with TNT's decision to cancel this series.

It's always a heartbreak when such compelling drama gets the axe. Love or hate the characters - the writers, actors and directors had the ability to keep viewers glued to the stories each week. Sad to see them go.

For two years, I have followed and enjoyed this show but this year I had to quit watching, the cops were so dishonest and corrupt that it was hard to like them. My only regret is what happened to John. I look forward to seeing Michael C. In his next show.
