The Secret Life of the American Teenager Review: Mother Knows Best

at .

Well... it's about damn time, Anne! The latest episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager brought back mama Juergens and I don't think I'm alone in saying she was greatly missed.

In "All My Sisters With Me" Anne spit out in two minutes what everyone else has taken two months to get to.

Ben's Fixation

Anne blew back into town to find her former family had moved on without her. She admitted to Kathleen how lost she was feeling and that she almost felt caught between two worlds. However, no amount of self-confusion could cloud Anne's mind when it came to daughter Amy's problems.

I think you either get married and stay here or you move to New York and go to school, but not both. It’s one or the other. | permalink

It's been so obvious to the audience that Amy is so conflicted over what to do with Ricky. Week after week it's clear she loves him, but I'm not sure she's in love with him. She wants to have her cake and eat it too. I think the bottom line is that she need to be honest with herself and she needs to be honest with Ricky.

Ricky has turned into a great guy and a great father over the years. He doesn't deserve to be jerked around and he didn't deserve to hear about Amy going to summer school through Nora. Relationships are really hard work, I'm not sure how Amy intends to hold it all together when she moves to New York. I hate to say this, but I also feel like she's not really thinking of John at all.

George is acting really old fashioned with all of the "immoral" talk. He's been married three times. I always thought he was Amy and Ricky's biggest supporter, but now I think he's trying to control everyone. He's also being awful to Anne right now.

Probably my favorite scene of the episode was when Anne and Kathleen bonded. It's great to see how those two women could be friends and relate despite having shared the same man at different parts in their lives. I think it also helps to keep this large and crazy family united. It was sad to see Nora and Willadean hurt Anne, but I guess that's just life.

I hope that we have finally found a resolution with Amy and Ricky, but Grace and Adrian have a lot to work out. Grace kept making it clear that she wanted alone time which is something I can definitely respect. Having sex to get out of her marriage? Not so much.

Ben needs to move to New York and date some other girls. Chloe needs to not get involved with her psycho pimp again. Only a few episode left of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Hit the comments with your thoughts!

The Secret Life of the American Teenager Season 6 Episode 9 Quotes

I'm feeling a bit like a woman with no country. I don't have my old family as George puts it, and I don't have a new family. I guess I'm just feeling a little bit lost.

Anne

Jack: We've been in love since the first time we saw each other.
Grace: You mean in heat? We've been in heat since the first time we saw each other.
Jack: The two feelings are kind of confusing.
