Forget going glam.

Adam Lambert is now going Glee.

Series creator Ryan Murphy confirmed via Tweet last night that the former American Idol runner-up will be appear on Glee Season 5, though details of his role remain under wraps.

"I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall," Murphy wrote, while the singer simply added that he's "so excited."

The addition of Lambert is the latest in a cast shake-up for the series, as Jayma Mays has been cast on the CBS sitcom The Millers, while Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling and Harry Shum, Jr. are no longer series regular.

Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Unique), meanwhile, are all going in the opposite direction: they will be main players when Glee returns with new episodes on September 19.

Moreover, this casting news apparently seals the deal for Lambert on American Idol next year: he will not serve as a judge.

Are you excited for Lambert to join the Glee cast?
